If It's Not Me

Chapter 68 Sharing the Bed

"Thank you." As she spoke, she leaned forward and hugged Daniel. She buried her head into his firm and muscular chest and said softly, "You'll always be Denise's father." Meanwhile, Daniel just let Janice hug him. In reality, he, too, was aware that there was a hint of confession in Janice's words. However, Daniel could never deny any questions regarding Denise—because he indeed was and must always be Denise's father. As for Janice, he couldn't figure out his real feelings when it came to her. Besides, he couldn't get over the obstacle in his heart, which was Evelyn. At this moment, Janice, who was in Daniel's arms, suddenly muttered, "I'm sleepy." When Daniel heard her, he said softly, "Go to bed then. I'll just sleep on the sofa." In the next minute, like a whiny little lady, Janice looked up, pouted her lips, and said softly with dissatisfaction, "But the sofa isn't cozy enough, and what's more, you're injured." This made Daniel's heart tremble even more. "C-Come into the room and sleep," Janice said with a feeble voice—a crimson hue formed on her face. Into the room?! Daniel's breath became slightly heavy at her invitation. Then, he looked at Janice's pretty face blushing as red as a tomato, and thought to himself, What man could ever resist such beautiful seduction? "D-Don't get the wrong idea. What I meant was sleep normally like how we did last time." When she noticed that he had misunderstood, she hurriedly explained. Although she had feelings for him, it didn't mean that she could accept the idea of speeding up their relationship's progress. When he heard her hasty explanation, he knew that it was all just in his head and smiled awkwardly. Meanwhile, the shy Janice was already too embarrassed to continue hugging him. Therefore, she hurriedly released Daniel, hastily got up, and returned to her room. Still, she stopped for a second before she stepped into her room. Then, she tilted her head to look back at Daniel and urged softly, "Be quick." With that, she entered her room without further ado. The moment Daniel saw that she wasn't around, he couldn't help but gasp in his heart. Enchantress! Janice is a complete enchantress! I have encountered countless beauties during my years of battling abroad, yet besides Evelyn, Janice is probably the only woman who has the ability to make me s*xually aroused. When he thought of that, he took a deep breath and calmed himself down before entering the room cautiously without making any noise. Once in the room, he was surprised to see Denise sleeping in a straddling position and occupying the bedside that was against the wall. Daniel awkwardly looked at Janice, who was sitting at the bedside. The latter was also surprised, as she didn't expect Denise to roll over to that side of the bed in her sleep. Hence, the two looked at each other—a slight sense of awkwardness filled the atmosphere surrounding them."H-How about I—" Daniel tried to reduce the tension between them and wanted to suggest to Janice that he could just sleep outside on the sofa in the living room. Nonetheless, Janice cut him off before he could finish. "It's okay. Let's just sleep. I'll sleep in the middle." After she finished speaking, she immediately crawled to the center of the bed without waiting for his response. Once she lay down, she clutched the quilt tightly with both hands, not daring to take a look at him. As for him, he hesitated for a while and eventually slowly lay down beside Janice. Daniel could feel that the pace of her breathing quickened as soon as he lay down. He could also feel that she would always immediately tense up whenever his body brushed against hers from time to time. Yet, neither of them uttered a word. At this moment, the atmosphere in the bedroom was tranquil. One could hear only the breathing sound of two adults and a child echoing in the space. Thanks to the many glasses of red wine she gulped down earlier, Janice fell asleep after a while despite feeling nervous. Moreover, she even turned over, directly leaned close to Daniel's ear, and breathed steadily into his ear. When he felt the fragrant breath that kept brushing against his ears, he looked sideways at the woman's delicate cheeks. Daniel inexplicably had mixed feelings about his current situation as he looked at her. Evelyn, will you be mad at me if I accept Janice's feelings? As those thoughts kept racing in his head, he sighed discretely. Soon, he, too, fell asleep. Tonight, Janice slept very soundly. Perhaps because she felt the sense of security coming from the people next to her, it was the first time she had slept so soundly in five years. The following day, Janice woke up before Denise. She dazedly opened her beautiful eyes but widened her eyes in shock as soon as she saw her sleeping posture. As expected, my sleeping posture is still the same as last time! Janice slept with her slender and fair leg straddled around Daniel's waist and her arms placed on his chest, feeling his steady and powerful heartbeat. Yet, unlike last time, she didn't immediately move away from him. Instead, she stared at his handsome side profile with a faint smile. Her gaze became increasingly tender, and she couldn't help reaching out to caress his face. Just then, Daniel, who was asleep, suddenly frowned and mumbled, "Evelyn."
