If It's Not Me

Chapter 69 Dream

Like a shot, Daniel abruptly opened his eyes. This sudden gesture of him shocked Janice so much that she instinctively pretended to be sleeping. He didn't notice and turned to glance at Janice, who was still 'sleeping'—his breathing was a little heavy. The next moment, he was stunned when he realized that his back was soaked in cold sweat. As a military instructor, he had never fallen into a deep sleep and was always alert in the past ten years. He was that one person who would immediately wake up even if there was a slight disturbance. But now, he actually fell asleep and even had a dream. Not only that, he even dreamed that Evelyn was running in his dream, and he couldn't catch up with her no matter how hard he ran. What's going on with me? Could it be that I'm feeling too relaxed? At the thought of that, he blamed himself a little. What am I doing?! I should be vigilant 24 hours a day! Then, his eyes trailed down and saw Janice's sleeping posture. He felt rather helpless after he noticed the thigh and the arm with skin as white as snow straddling around his body. It's no wonder Denise sleeps in such a manner. So, it turns out that she learns it from Janice. Daniel carefully moved Janice's arm and leg off his body. After that, he slowly got out of bed and left the room. Once he left, she also quietly opened her eyes—a trace of confusion glimpsed in her beautiful orbs as she touched the spot beside her and felt the lingering warmth on the bed sheet. Was he sleep talking?" Fortunately for Daniel, the words he mumbled in his sleep just now were so muffled that she couldn't catch what he said clearly. So, thanks to such an odd coincidence, he managed to dodge her suspicion. "Who knew a guy who looked quite serious like him would sleep talk? Now that I think about it, he's quite cute like that." She couldn't help but laugh in amusement. Meanwhile, Daniel had gone out to buy breakfast, and while on his way back to Janice's place, he received a report from Phantom saying there would be a birthday party going on tonight in the Murphy Manor. The main character of the birthday party was none other than Selena's son, Jared—the little boy who fought with Denise last time, and the reason his last name was Murphy because he took his mother, Selena's family name. Phantom asked respectfully, "Lord Hades, may I ask if you wish to attend the party?" "I most certainly wish." Daniel narrowed his eyes slightly—an infinite sense of killing intent flashed across his eyes. As a matter of fact, he would have gone over to the Murphy Manor by himself and killed them all if it wasn't because Janice was afraid to be alone last night. Although he currently still had no substantial relationship with her, she was, nonetheless, the mother of his daughter. Hence, it was natural for him to regard her as someone he needed to protect at all costs. Selena won't make it through tonight. As for the Murphy Family, I wasn't joking at all when I said I wanted them dead within three days. "Order a coffin. I want to send it as a gift," Daniel said with his voice as cold as ice. Without a doubt, his idea of sending a coffin as a gift to a birthday party was indeed a blasphemous act. Moreover, by doing so, he was telling the Murphy Family that he completely looked down upon them. Meanwhile, Phantom simply nodded, with her facial expression remaining unchanged. After he gave his order to her, he continued making his way back to Janice's neighborhood. As soon as he entered the house, a petite figure rushed over and ran into his arms. "Daddy!" Daniel swiftly swept Denise into his arms—a tinge of fondness filled his eyes as he looked at her. She was wearing cartoon pajamas, and her eyes were still sleepy. Nevertheless, it was obvious to him that she had just gotten up. In the meantime, Janice, who was standing at the door, pouted slightly and asked, "Where have you been?" There was a hint of reproach in her tone. She couldn't help herself because she actually panicked a little when she left the bedroom and didn't see him anywhere around the house. He was stunned for a moment before he answered, "I-I went out to buy breakfast for you and Denise."As he spoke, he raised his hand and showed Janice the breakfast in his hand. "It's not like I can't cook us some breakfast," Janice said snappishly. Nonetheless, the smile on her face sold her out by indicating her current good mood. Later, the family of three washed up and had their breakfast. After they finished their breakfast, Daniel drove the two to their respective destinations. First off, they drove to Denise's kindergarten and dropped her off. Then, finally, Daniel drove Janice to her company. They arrived downstairs at the Janson Corporation's office building in a jiffy. Once the car pulled over, the two got out of the vehicle. "Are you sure you can go to work like this?" Daniel asked. Since Janice had just experienced a nightmare-like incident last night, he was still a little worried if she had made a hasty decision and returned to work so soon. "I'm fine. Now that I finally got my hands on the Sky Project, I must get it done as soon as possible." she gave Daniel a sweet smile while reassuring him that she was okay.
