If It's Not Me
In fact, when Daniel arrived at the Four Waves Tower, Janice had been taking a nap with Denise and woke up to grab herself a glass of water. Nevertheless, when she realized Daniel was nowhere to be found around the house, she became curious. "Seriously? Doesn't this guy know that he has to be around on weekends?" She angrily reached for her phone, only to stumble upon news about Fletcher's death. When she learned that Fletcher was killed by his own father, she covered her mouth in surprise and continued to browse for more information about what happened, whereupon she learned about the death of Denise's kidnapper. "My gosh!" The lady's face was written with disbelief and shock. Seconds later, she saw the link of a live video recorded during the press conference at the Four Waves Tower and decided to click on it. Then, when she saw Daniel on her screen, she was stunned once again. "What's he doing at the Four Waves Tower? Who's that lady beside him?" Janice tried to calm herself down, her eyes glued to her phone. While it was noisy in the background of the live video due to the noise from the crowd, Janice was still able to hear bits and pieces of the conversation. From that, she managed to learn that the man who stood beside Daniel was the kingpin of Westhill, Raymond Estrada. Besides, she also heard them talk about Daniel's identity and Douglas' death, as well as the truth behind Fletcher's murder. After that, she noticed how Ingrid's face darkened and heard Asher's snarl just before the video ended. Although Janice had no idea what was going on, she had a feeling that Daniel had been doing a lot of things out there without letting her know. Therefore, she decided to call him up, only to realize his phone was turned off. "Damn it! Did this guy forget that he mustn't turn his phone off in our agreement?" Annoyed, she called the man a dozen times and was finally able to reach him in her last attempt. Just as Daniel was about to speak, Janice snapped at him and asked, "Daniel, are you now at the Four Waves Tower?!" On the other hand, Daniel was stunned; he didn't expect Janice to wake up from her nap. Nonetheless, he quickly tried to explain himself. "Yes. Yes, I am." His voice sounded panicky like a man who was caught doing something wrong by his own wife. Janice asked, "Why are you with the kingpin from Westhill, Tigre? I thought you said you joined the military?" She expressed her concern because Daniel was her husband and Denise's father, both in name only, but if he was affiliated with the mob or the thugs, she was afraid that they would become a target for his enemies. Knowing what Janice was worried about, Daniel said, "Well, perhaps I should talk to you about this in person rather than over the phone, but you can rest assured knowing that Tigre and I are just acquaintances. He is with me because he owes me a favor, so it's not like what you think it is." However, Tia, who was approaching Daniel, happened to overhear his reply just as her face turned gloomy. It turns out that he doesn't know Tigre at all. He is only with Tigre because of a favor owed to him. Jeez! Here I thought I was wrong about him. How foolish of me! I was even going to apologize to him. Come on, Tia. How could a prisoner possibly know the likes of Mr. Tigre? "I'm going to give you half an hour now. Get back here and explain to me clearly, or I'm going to call off our deal," Janice replied coldly. "Alright, I'll be back right away!" Daniel became anxious when he heard Janice threatening to call off their deal. After all, he went through a lot before he got to stay by his daughter's side, so he would never throw his hard-earned chances away like that. Upon hanging up the call, he was about to leave just when he sensed someone right behind him. He then turned around and saw Tia. "Oh, it's you, Tia. What are you…" He was stunned, but seconds later, he quickly recalled his sister's occupation as a reporter, understanding why she was there. "Did you see everything?" he asked. "Yeah, I saw everything and heard everything." Tia's eyes were cold. "I heard that you're just acquaintances with Tigre since he owes you a favor. Do you have any idea how much danger your actions have put Mom, Dad, and me in? Thunder may be able to protect you now, but he can't protect you forever! Please think twice before every decision you make. Mom and Dad are getting old, and I doubt they can keep putting up with all the trouble you're creating any longer. Like Ingrid said, you're trying to retaliate against them, aren't you? To satisfy your quest for vengeance, right?" Upon hearing his sister's accusations, Daniel felt helpless yet amused. After all, he didn't think he would mislead Tia when he was just making up a story to convince Janice. "Tia, I…" "Behave yourself." Tia walked away in disappointment while Daniel helplessly chuckled. Although Tia still misunderstood him, he was still happy because he could sense her sister easing up on him. At that moment, Tigre emerged from the hall covered in blood from head to toe, but his eyes brightened up with thrill and excitement. "It's done, sergeant." The man was satisfied with the fight that he just had in the conference hall. Daniel nodded. "Take over Jacko's turf later." "Understood." Soon, Phantom arrived at the exit in the car, but when Daniel approached the vehicle, he was surrounded by a few dozen police officers who marched in his direction. "Mr. Hardon!" Bobby politely bowed while greeting Daniel, stunning the police officers who were around him. After all, Bobby was a respected figure in Goldshore and was not expected to bow to a young man like Daniel. In fact, even Tigre was also surprised by what he saw. While he knew who Bobby was and how revered he was around Goldshore, he couldn't believe even the likes of Bobby had to show so much respect to Daniel. It looks like my sergeant is probably someone even bigger than I thought. "Take care of the mess here and make sure not a single word about Jacko gets out. Is that understood?" Daniel asked. "Understood." Bobby nodded respectfully, whereupon Daniel did the same gesture and left the place after getting into the car.Upon arrival at Sunrise Residential Area, Daniel quickly opened the car door and rushed upstairs. In the meantime, Tigre, who was sitting in the backseat, felt bewildered upon seeing him in a hurry. "Officer, is he in some kind of trouble?" "Yeah, you're right." Noticing how Daniel was in a hurry, Phantom curled her lips upward and replied, "He is indeed in big trouble." After sprinting all the way to the sixth floor with all his energy, Daniel didn't seem to show any signs of fatigue at all. He then knocked on the door before it was quickly opened. The next second, he was greeted by Janice who folded her arms and glared at him coldly. "Now, tell me what's going on."
