Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 348 Isolated And Helpless

“What is this…” Logan asked angrily, “Emily, what do you mean by this?” Emily smiled, holding a remote in her hand. “Mr. Morgan, don’t you recognize it? This is the design you submitted when you won the architecture award 27 years ago.” “Of course, I remember,” Logan replied in a low voice. “Did you bring me here just to show me my own design? Emily, stop this nonsense. We’re family. If you have something to say, we can discuss it privately. Don’t make a scene in front of others.” Emily’s smile widened. “Others? Are you talking about Alex?” Alex sat there like a king, and Logan knew better than to provoke him. He quickly smiled and said, “Of course not. Alex and I are practically family now.” “Good,” Emily said. “Your student Bobby isn’t related to you by blood, is he?” Her expression suddenly turned cold. “Ken, Bobby has been carrying Mr. Morgan’s bags for a while now. Take him out for a meal to show our appreciation.” “Sure thing,” Ken said, his hands in his pockets as he approached Bobby. “Come on, you can order anything you want, and it’s on the company.” It was clear that she wanted Bobby out of the way. She was isolating Logan Morgan, leaving him helpless. She wanted Logan to taste the slow agony, just like her mother did in the delivery room all those years ago. She wasn’t planning to kill Logan; murder was illegal. But Logan cared about his reputation, so she would strip away his facade in front of Alex, exposing his true nature bit by bit. That would be the most devastating blow for Logan. Bobby understood this too. He wasn’t stupid. He realized this was a trial for Logan. Logan grabbed Bobby’s sleeve and said, “Bobby has been my student for seven years; he’s like my right-hand man. Without him, I can’t focus on my work. You can eat anytime, but let’s finish our discussion first, and then we can all go out to eat together…” “So, Bobby is that important to you?” Emily nodded. “But what does Bobby want? Does he want to stay and support his teacher?” Bobby’s face turned pale. Emily’s words were like a choice presented to him.Either he stayed and faced the consequences alongside Logan Morgan, or he left now, cutting ties with Logan and avoiding getting dragged into his mess. Bobby gritted his teeth, deep in thought. He hadn’t yet received his Ph.D. certificate; just a few more months to go. If he abandoned Logan now, he might never get his degree, and his career in the design industry would be over before it even started. But if Emily lumped him in with Logan, his future would be even harder… “Well, Bobby, have you made up your mind?” Ken adjusted his glasses and smirked. “It’s just a meal, we’re all friends here. Our lady is just looking out for you. Come on, let’s go.” Bobby bit his lip and glanced at Logan. Logan was glaring at him, his eyes full of warning. “Mr. Morgan…” Bobby’s shoulders slumped. “I did leave the house early this morning, and I’m a bit hungry. I’ll just grab a quick bite and come right back.” Logan was furious. “What did you say?! You…” With Alex in the room, Logan couldn’t curse out loud. He just glared at Bobby and said, “Bobby, I’m old and didn’t bring my reading glasses. I need you to help me see things.” Bobby quickly replied, “Mr. Morgan, I really am hungry, and I tend to get low blood sugar. I might even faint. If you don’t believe me, ask my brother. He can vouch for me—I’ve had low blood sugar since I was a kid.” Daniel, who had been silent until now, was mentioned. His expression was complicated. Bobby was his younger brother, and of course, he wanted to protect him as much as he could, but his boss was also important… Ken laughed. “If he faints from low blood sugar, what then? Mr. Morgan, if you can’t see clearly, just get closer. Or we can call in a secretary to read for you. But you can’t risk your student fainting just to stay with you, can you? That wouldn’t be fair, right?” Thanks to Ken, Daniel felt a bit relieved. He had already figured out what was going on. This Mr. Morgan wasn’t as noble as he appeared; he had plenty of dirty secrets, and some of them involved Emily’s mother. He never would have guessed that Emily was Morgan’s daughter. Dylan had mentioned before that Emily’s childhood was full of hardship, yet her biological father had lived in comfort for over twenty years. There had to be more to the story.Things were different now than they were twenty years ago. Back then, information was harder to come by, and Logan managed to play the good guy for over two decades. But now, news spread quickly, and people like Logan couldn’t get away with their lies for long. Following a teacher like this, Bobby wouldn’t have much of a future. It was better to cut ties now. Daniel nodded and said, “Yes, Bobby has had low blood sugar since he was young. Don’t worry, Mr. Morgan, I’m right here. Just tell me what you need, and if you can’t see something, I’ll read it for you. Let my brother go eat something first.” Bobby nodded repeatedly. “Mr. Morgan, do you believe me now?” “Get out,” Logan muttered, lowering his eyes and sneering. “I should have known—you’re an ungrateful dog.” Bobby’s face turned several shades of red, feeling humiliated. “Mr. Morgan, how could you insult me like that?” Logan waved his hand dismissively. “Just leave.” Seeing this, Daniel quickly pulled Bobby out of the meeting room, with Ken following behind. They cornered Bobby in the stairwell. Daniel didn’t look happy, while Ken kept his usual cold smile, lighting a cigarette as he watched. “Bobby, you’d better explain to me what’s going on,” Daniel demanded.
