Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal

Chapter 347 It's A Misunderstanding

Daniel immediately recognized him. "This is Mr. Norman! Welcome." "And who is this?" Emily introduced him. "This is Daniel, the general manager of Vincent's company." "Oh, Daniel, nice to meet you." Daniel was excited. "Ah, hello… Would you like something to drink?" "Red tea, please," Alex replied with a smile and a nod. "I'm getting older and don't like coffee as much. I prefer tea." "Alright, I'll have someone prepare it right away." As Alex's gaze swept the room, he paused when he saw Logan, his expression changing slightly. "Emily, what's he doing here?" Logan's heart raced, and Bobby felt the same tension. The two exchanged glances, both seeing the fear in each other's eyes. Emily's tone grew serious. "Mr. Norman, the reason I asked you to come today is that I need you to be a witness for me." Alex frowned. "Don’t worry, whatever trouble you're in, just tell me, and I’ll help you. Is he bothering you again?" "No, he’s not bothering me." Logan and Bobby exchanged relieved glances, but the next words from Emily made Logan feel like he’d fallen into an ice pit. "Mr. Norman, I don’t have many family members left. My adoptive father is still in the hospital, not yet recovered, and my uncle works while taking care of him. But my whole family remembers how tragically my mother died. You're Vincent’s father, and I see you as my own father. Today, I want to clear my mother’s name, and I hope you can help me." Her words were heavy. Alex paused, sensing something. "Are you saying your mother’s death is connected to Mr. Morgan?" "Yes," Emily said through gritted teeth, enunciating each word. "My mother was hemorrhaging severely during childbirth. If emergency measures had been taken, she could have been saved. But Logan, as her husband, conspired with the obstetrician at the time and watched as my mother died. My mother fought to give birth to me—""That’s nonsense!" Logan shouted, his voice low but sharp. "Emily, I know you have issues with me, but you can’t just make things up! Do you have any evidence?" Emily sneered. "Mr. Morgan, Emma was the obstetrician at the time, and she’s been friends with your wife Grace for decades! You were already cheating on my mother when she was pregnant with me!" "I don’t know who Emma is, and I don’t know her," Logan said, trying to appear calm, but his hands, clenched into fists at his sides, trembled slightly. "Emily, everything requires evidence. Even if you take me to court, the judge will need witnesses and physical evidence to rule. If you falsely accuse me, I can sue you for defamation. But since we’re still father and daughter, I don’t want things to get ugly. You're pregnant now; for the sake of your child, please don’t get worked up. Sit down and rest…" As he spoke, Logan reached out to grab Emily’s hand. But Alex stepped forward, shielding Emily and blocking Logan's hand. Logan’s hand hovered in the air before he awkwardly let it drop. "Mr. Norman, I’d like to have a word with my daughter." Alex, taller and stronger than Logan due to regular exercise, looked down at him, exuding an intimidating presence. "Mr. Morgan, whatever you have to say, you can say it right here. Emily can hear you." Logan protested, "I’m her biological father. We share a blood connection…" "Blood connection?" Alex retorted. "Mr. Morgan, while you’ve been enjoying life in Europe with your wife, did it ever cross your mind that you have a daughter struggling back here?" "I didn’t even know I had a daughter! Lisa never told me she was pregnant!" Emily scoffed. "Is that so? I hope you remember those words, Mr. Morgan. You might regret them when the truth comes out." Logan faltered. He shook his head. "You don’t have any evidence; you can’t accuse me." Emily nodded. "Yes, everything requires evidence. Emma is dead, and my mother’s body has long since been cremated. It seems like there really is no evidence to accuse you of what you did… But, Mr. Morgan, let’s see what happens next." Emily turned to Daniel. "Daniel, Ken, take Mr. Morgan to the conference room." Daniel and Ken sensed the brewing storm and knew they had to stand by Emily.Daniel gestured politely. "Mr. Morgan, the conference room is this way, please." Logan didn’t move. Bobby softened his tone. "Boss… I’ve been with Mr. Morgan for so many years; I know his character better than anyone. This must be a misunderstanding…" "Didn’t you hear what our lady just said? We’ll know soon enough if it’s a misunderstanding," Ken said coldly. "Mr. Morgan, if you’re unable to walk, I can find a few people to help you out." Logan realized he had no other options. This was a carefully laid trap; there was no easy escape today. But Emma was dead, and Grace still needed Logan to provide for her. She would never expose him. No one else knew about what happened back then—how could Emily possibly find a witness? With that thought, Logan straightened up, puffing out his chest. "It’s fine, Bobby. I know I’m innocent. If Emily has any misunderstandings, let’s clear them up today." Bobby stepped back quietly. "Yes, sir." "Please, lead the way, Daniel." Daniel led the way, with Logan and Bobby following. Alex stayed close to Emily, protecting her as they brought up the rear. Alex was concerned. "Emily, what about the baby…?" "Don’t worry, we’re both fine. Vincent has already arranged for medical staff in case anything happens. But I won’t let it come to that—Logan isn’t worth it." In the conference room, Logan was guided by Daniel to a seat at the far end. The main seat was naturally reserved for Alex, with Emily sitting beside him. "Emily, what do you want me to see?" Logan Morgan asked. Emily signaled to Ken, who turned on the projector, displaying a design on the white screen. Logan Morgan recognized the design immediately.
