Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal
Bobby was a lot shorter than Daniel and didn't have his brother's charisma. He looked a bit sleazy. “Bro, honestly, this has nothing to do with me. It's all Logan's mess from before. I just helped him cover it up, that's all.” Daniel felt a sinking feeling in his chest. From Bobby’s tone, it seemed like Logan really had done some dirty stuff. “You need to tell me exactly what’s going on with Logan’s design.” “What design?” “The one he won the award for. The one Emily showed today! If it wasn’t about that design, he wouldn’t have called Logan over.” Ken exhaled a puff of white smoke, squinting as he flicked the ash from his cigarette. “Daniel, can’t you see? That design wasn’t Logan’s. F.uck! I used to admire him so much because of that design, and it turns out it was all a lie.” Daniel frowned, staring at Bobby. “You tell me, is that true?” Bobby shrank back a little. “Bro, honestly, I don’t know all the details. By the time I was his student, he was already famous.” “Then just tell me what you do know!” Daniel was getting really frustrated now. Caught between his brother and his boss, Daniel was fuming. “...That design wasn’t his. I overheard him talking to Grace once, and I caught bits and pieces. It sounds like Grace gave him that design, told him to enter it into the competition, and that’s how he got famous.” Daniel asked, “Who’s Grace?” “Oh, that’s Logan’s wife—no, ex-wife. That woman is tough; she’s got a lot of dirt on Logan Morgan.” “She’s an architect too?” Bobby snorted. “She doesn’t know a thing about design. She stole that design.” “Who did she steal it from?” “From Emily’s mom,” Bobby continued, “Oh yeah, and Grace’s ex-husband is Emily’s adoptive father.” Daniel was completely confused. “I can’t follow this. So, you’re saying Logan was with Emily’s mom, and then Grace stole her design and gave it to Logan?” Bobby nodded. “Yep, that’s exactly what happened.” “But… wasn’t Logan her husband? Why didn’t he just steal it himself? Why involve Grace? That seems unnecessary.” “Hah!” Ken sneered. “Daniel, I get it now.” Daniel asked him, “Then explain it to me.” Ken shoved his hands into his pockets and shot Bobby a glare before saying coldly, “Emily’s adoptive father was married to Grace, right?” Bobby nodded. “Yeah.” “Then it’s simple. Grace married Emily’s adoptive father first, then got involved with Logan. Logan wanted to dump Emily’s mom but didn’t want to lose her talent, so he tricked her into finishing the design. Then Grace stole it. Logan passed it off as his own work, entered it in the competition, won, and became famous.” “Jesus Christ!” Daniel was furious. “That’s so dirty!” “That’s just the tip of the iceberg,” Ken sighed. “Daniel, think about it. If it was just about stealing the design, do you think Emily, who’s usually so gentle, would be this angry? And she brought Alex in as a witness!” Daniel slapped his forehead. “Just say it. I can’t imagine anything worse.” Ken shook his head. “Think about it. Logan used that design in the competition. When Emily’s mom found out she’d been betrayed, why didn’t she come forward to clear her name? Logan’s been using that design for almost three decades without getting caught. Why? Unless—” “Unless what?” “Unless Emily’s mom died not long after. She never had the chance to defend herself because she never got to see it.” Daniel was stunned. He looked at Bobby, who nodded in silent confirmation, not saying anything else. It seemed like Ken’s guess was right—there was a life involved in this!“How old is Emily?” “She’s four years younger than the boss, so she’s twenty-seven.” “And that competition was exactly twenty-seven years ago,” Daniel took a deep breath. “So, Emily’s mom died not long after giving birth. Logan took that design, won the award, then went to Europe with Grace, had a son, and completely ignored his own daughter? He didn’t even think about whether his child, who’d lost her mother, would survive?” Bobby timidly spoke up, “Bro, Logan’s pretty traditional. He didn’t like having a daughter; he thought only sons could be heirs. He had a son, so he didn’t care about his daughter.” Ken was so angry that he kicked the wall. “F.uck him! He’s a bastard!” At this point, they had a pretty clear picture of what had happened. “So, Emily is mad because Logan betrayed her mom, right? Her mom had his kid, and not only did he cheat on her, but he also stole her work? Is that it?” “Bro, there’s one more thing. Don’t get mad…” Daniel was at a loss for words. “What now? Isn’t this enough?” Bobby said, “I’m not sure about this, but… when Emily’s mom was giving birth, she had a major hemorrhage. The doctor called Logan to ask what to do. Logan was already at the airport, about to leave the country. He told them not to operate.” “What?!” “…And then Emily’s mom died. Emily was taken away by William.” Ken heard this and immediately tried to storm out. Daniel grabbed him. “Ken, calm down. What are you doing?” “I can’t take it anymore! That guy’s scum! I’m going in to beat the crap out of Logan!” “Calm down. Emily sent us out here, which means she’s got a plan. And our boss is backing her up. Do you think he’d just stand by and watch Emily get hurt? There’s definitely someone protecting her around here. We’ll wait. If she needs us, we’ll step in.” Ken took a deep breath. “Fine, I’ll wait. I’ll wait for Emily to get her revenge and expose Logan for what he did.”
