Pampered By Billionaires After Betrayal
Daniel quickly stepped aside for Emily, saying, "Mr. Morgan, this is our project manager, and also our boss's wife. She’s the one in charge of this project." Logan’s expression was hard to read. Emily, however, remained calm, as if meeting Logan for the first time. She politely extended her hand, "You must be Mr. Morgan, right? Hello." Logan looked at her outstretched hand, unsure if he should take it. Was Emily pretending not to know him? Also, the Great Wall Group had always been mysterious, but it was financially powerful. Even Mr. Taylor held this collaboration in high regard. Despite being unwell, he had called specifically to remind Logan of the importance of this meeting. There were only a handful of people in New York that Mr. Taylor would be this cautious about. But what did Daniel just say? Emily was the wife of the Great Wall Group's boss? Which meant the boss was Vincent? One Norman family was enough to make him wary, but now with the Great Wall Group added, sweat began to form on Logan’s forehead. Seeing Logan hesitate, Emily smirked slightly and said softly, "Is Mr. Morgan hesitating because he thinks I’m not worthy of a handshake? I guess a renowned designer like Mr. Morgan wouldn’t think much of someone as young as me." Logan’s face darkened slightly. With so many people around, he couldn’t afford to make a scene. "You’re joking. The Great Wall Group is the client, and I’m just the designer. I wouldn’t dare look down on you." Emily’s smile grew a little wider. "That’s good to hear. I’m glad Mr. Morgan understands his place." There was a strange tension between them. Bobby, who was aware of their relationship, wisely kept his mouth shut. He couldn’t afford to offend either of them, so he just stayed silent and tried to blend into the background. Daniel, on the other hand, was puzzled.Scratching his head, he laughed awkwardly, "Well, since everyone’s here, why don’t we get started with the meeting? The main agenda today is to review and finalize the design plans. Mr. Morgan, as the expert, we’d really appreciate your input." Logan’s expression eased slightly after being flattered. "Daniel, you’re too kind. It’s my job." "Mr. Morgan, do you have a preferred drink? I can have the secretary prepare something." Logan waved his hand dismissively. "I’m here to work, not to drink. Water will do just fine." Daniel nodded and signaled the secretary, who quickly went to get the water. He then asked Emily, "And for you, ma’am? What would you like to drink?" "I don’t need anything," Emily replied. "Mr. Morgan is right; the focus today should be on the meeting and the design plans." Daniel nodded again. "Alright, if that’s the case, let’s get started—" "Hold on," Emily interrupted, raising her hand. "There’s someone else who hasn’t arrived yet." Daniel looked surprised. "Is it the boss? I thought he said you’d handle everything today. Did he change his mind?" "It’s not him," Emily glanced at her watch. "Let’s give it another ten minutes. The person I invited should be here soon." Logan forced a smile, though his expression was stiff. "I wasn’t aware we were waiting for someone important. Are we all supposed to wait for this person?" Emily smiled. "Oh, this person is very important to both you and me. Without him, today’s meeting wouldn’t be meaningful." Her gaze swept over the room, finally landing on the entrance. "He’ll be here soon, and Mr. Morgan will understand." Logan felt uneasy, though he couldn’t pinpoint why. Ever since he stepped into the Great Wall Group today, he had a nagging feeling that he was walking into a trap set by Emily. He stood up, "Excuse me, but where’s the restroom? I need to step out for a moment." Daniel quickly offered, "Oh, it’s this way, Mr. Morgan. Please follow me—" Crash—The teacup smashed right by Logan’s feet, shattering into pieces. The secretary, who had just entered with the tea, was stunned. Emily, who usually appeared so gentle, had grabbed the cup from her hand and thrown it to the ground. The cup shattered into pieces, scattering across the floor. Even someone oblivious could tell that Emily was in a foul mood today. Logan’s face darkened. "Emily, if you have something to say, just say it." Emily remained seated, calm and composed. "I will say it, but not just yet. Please, Mr. Morgan, have a little patience and wait a bit longer." Logan was angry, but he couldn’t show it. "I just want to use the restroom. Are you not even going to let me do that?" "You can go to the restroom," Emily said, lowering her gaze. "Ken, take a few people and accompany Mr. Morgan." She was making it clear that she didn’t trust him. She was worried that Logan might try to escape. Logan was a seasoned businessman, a master of self-preservation. If he sensed that things were turning against him, he’d try to get out of there. Today, Emily had no intention of letting Logan leave the Great Wall Group’s building so easily. "That’s not necessary. Bobby can come with me. I’m not that old; I don’t need so many people to assist me." Just then, a black car pulled up outside. Emily’s eyes lit up. "He’s here." Everyone’s attention shifted to the door. Alex stepped out of the car, dressed in a sharp suit, his hair perfectly groomed. His military background was evident in his upright posture, making him look tall and imposing. But when he saw Emily, his expression softened. "Emily, Vincent said you wanted to discuss something with me. I came straight from the office. What’s so important that you needed to make it such a big deal?" Emily’s tone was gentle. "Mr. Norman.""You and Vincent are getting married; you should call me Dad," Alex laughed heartily. "You’re almost ready for the wedding, but you keep wanting to wait. If you wait any longer, your child will be born before the wedding! I haven’t even heard you call me Dad yet, and soon enough I might be hearing your child call me Grandpa!"
