The Second Love

Chapter 181 Pandering To Dominic

I thought Dominic was busy with his work and wouldn't notice that I was staring at him. His hair was coiffed to perfection. His eyes had the same startling clarity as a mountain stream and the lineaments of his face were in perfect proportion to each other. Without warning, he turned to look at me and stated, “Liliana, if you're horny, just take the initiative. I won't mind.” I nearly tumbled off the chair upon hearing that. “You b*stard, you're the horny one! Can't you be more serious?” I scolded him Dominic chuckled, his low voice sounding gruff to my ears. He did not comment further. I stopped staring at him. I didn't know if he would blurt out something ridiculous any minute. As he wasn't about to have lunch anytime soon, I got bored and pulled out my phone to text Shannon. Shannon, I'm at Dominic's office to deliver lunch to him. Soon, Shannon's reply came: So what? PDA much? Don't rub it in my face! I giggled and typed in a furious manner: I am definitely not rubbing it in your face. Look at the lunch I prepared. After opening the lunchboxes, I took a few photos and sent them to her. Shannon didn't send me anything but a knife emoji in return. Nearly dying from laughing, I replied with a grinning emoji. “Why are you laughing? Be careful not to knock off your tooth.” I looked at Dominic who had taken his seat across from me and replied in a sarcastic manner, “You're the one who'll knock off your tooth!” Dominic's lips curved into a teasing grin and stopped bickering with me. “Where's my lunch?” I pushed the blue lunchbox to him. “Here, this is yours. Eat up. The lunchbox isn't at all insulated. The food is getting cold.” Dominic took one look at the bear lunchbox and frowned with disdain. “Can't you use a more normal lunchbox?” I glared at him and retorted, “It's perfectly normal! Look how adorable it is! Are you going to eat your food?” Dominic opened his lunchbox and started eating without a word. I took the soup out and said, “I've googled about it and found out that it's easy to suffer from gastric pain in winter. Therefore, please drink some chicken soup to warm up your stomach.” “I have made you some chicken broth.” Dominic grunted in acknowledgment. “Got it. You should eat up, too.” I nodded and began eating my lunch. After taking two bites, I couldn't help but steal glances at him as I was extremely curious about AI-L. I couldn't help but study his gorgeous looks, for he seemed moulded from a different cast as he had an androgynous look uncommon to most people. Lacquered and enameled by the sun, he radiated energy and brio. His mountain peak cheekbones appeared chiseled into shape by God himself. They were of such sharp contours, it looked as if they were sculpted and pared to perfection. With eyes as bright and spellbinding as lodestars, they bewitched all those who fell under his steady gaze. They were a-sparkle with mirth and shone like two eternity-blue jewels enwrought in snow. “I know I'm a handsome man, but you don't have to stare at me in a longing manner, do you?” he blurted out of nowhere. At once, I rolled my eyes. “Stop it! You are such a narcissist.” Dominic winked at me. “Don't you think I'm handsome?” I felt my cheeks burning at his flirtatious gaze.Poof... he's flirting with me! “Right, you're handsome. The most handsome man in the world.” Ugh, that's enough. I balked inwardly. “Since you're honest, I shall reward you with a piece of meat,” he declared and placed a piece of meat into my lunchbox. Without saying anything else, I stuffed the meat into my mouth and chewed it forcefully before swallowing it down. He's really thick-skinned... Refusing to continue our previous conversation, I changed the topic. “Dominic, Calvin told me you are the founder of AI-L, and it's now a subsidiary of your company. Is that true?” Instead of answering my question, Dominic asked, “Why? Do you not trust him?” I shook my head. “Of course not. I was just surprised to learn that. If you reveal that piece of information to the public, women would flock to you.”“Remember to pander to me,” he answered in a smug tone. Seeing how arrogant and boastful he was, I chuckled aloud. Picking the chicken drumstick from the soup, I put it into his lunchbox and said, “Mm, I shall do just that. You won't be able to escape from my clutches.” Dominic arched a brow and grinned, seemingly pleased with my response. Lunch was a pleasant affair. As Dominic finished his portion and drank half of the chicken soup, I felt pleased. Gazing at him, I tried to fish for a compliment. “Isn't lunch delicious?” The corners of his mouth turned up. “Mm, it's not bad.” I nodded, satisfied with his reply. “Since you're so supportive, I shall prepare ravioli for dinner.” Pasta was a good choice for dinner after all. Glancing at the time, I realized there was some time before he started working in the afternoon. I cleared the table and prepared to head back. “You should take a short nap. I'll take my leave.” I was planning to read the script James gave me a while ago. It had been lying there for days but I had not touched it. Initially, Dominic wanted Calvin to give me a ride home, but I refused his offer. It would be easier for me to hail a cab. However, when I stepped out of the building, Dominic called and asked me to wait. I sat down on the bench, and he soon showed up. “What's wrong?” Taking my hand, Dominic said, “I'll give you a ride home. I won't be back for dinner.” “Oh.” I thought he had a dinner appointment and didn't question further. A few minutes later, Calvin showed up in the car. I got into the car and heard Calvin ask, “Mr. Hartnell, are we heading to the airport now?” Baffled, I froze. The airport? Is Dominic going on an outstation trip? “Head home first.” Calvin nodded and focused on driving. I turned to him. “Why are you going to the airport? Are you going somewhere?” Dominic shook his head. “Camille's parents are back. I'm going to pick them up.” Oh, that's fast. Her backup is back. I thought about it and inquired, “Will you be back tonight? What if they reprimand you? Why don't you take me along? I can explain how Camille got injured.” Noticing how worried I was, he patted my shoulder. “I can explain it myself. There's something else I need to tell them, anyway. Of course, I'll be back tonight. Otherwise where would I sleep?” I could guess what he wanted to say, and quiet contentment spread through. However, I was still worried. In an anxious manner, I raised my voice. “Calvin, remember to stay by Mr. Hartnell's side at all times. Make sure no one bullies him.” Calvin replied solemnly, “Got it.” Dominic seemed relaxed as he could even tease me. “It's fun seeing how nervous you are. I'm not going to a battle.” I pinched his waist in annoyance. “I'm worried they'll think of you as a cheater and beat you up.” Dominic chuckled. “If they beat me up, will you feel bad for me?”
