The Second Love

Chapter 180 Is He The Founder

Dominic came to a stop and turned to me. “Are you delivering lunch to me?” I nodded. “Yes. You love skipping meals, and takeaway food is not that healthy.” To think about it, I didn't even know where Dominic's office was as I had never asked him. As he said nothing, I pondered briefly and added, “I won't disturb you at work. If it bothers you, I'll call Calvin and ask him to come out to take your lunch from me.” “Prepare another serving so we get to eat together.” He finally relented. I beamed at his reply and agreed to his request. That night, when Dominic was taking a shower, I gave Shannon a call. Though I assured her multiple times that I was neither bullied nor suffered, she yapped on for a long time. Her words made my mind dizzy, but I knew she was showing her concern for me and listened to her quietly. I only managed to persuade her to hang up some time after Dominic's shower ended. The next morning, I left the house with Dominic to head to the supermarket. After he was injured, Calvin had been the one driving him around. Before reaching the supermarket, I told Dominic to send me his office address so I can take a cab there. However, he said he'd ask Calvin to pick me up later. That was fine by me, so I agreed readily. After Dominic's car drove away, I entered the supermarket. I pushed the cart around the supermarket. The cart soon piled up with various ingredients. I grew excited at the thought of preparing lunch and eating together with Dominic in his office at noon. After getting the ingredients I needed, I went to the daily necessities department. It took me some time to pick out two lunchboxes. One was pink, and the other was blue. They looked perfect for a couple. I checked and made sure I bought everything I needed. After paying for my items, I headed home. The first thing I did once I got home was to prepare the soup. Otherwise, I might not finish cooking by noon. The morning went by quickly as I prepared lunch happily. Pleasure streaked through me like a comet, and I felt as if my feet barely touched the ground. Beaming, I placed my cooking in the lunchboxes carefully. The adorable lunch boxes made me grin from ear to ear. Then, I placed them in my bag and hopped downstairs joyfully. I couldn’t think of a time I’d ever been happier. As I had called Calvin earlier, he was already waiting by the time I got downstairs. After I entered the car, I offered him a sushi roll. I had prepared it especially for him, for he had to work for Dominic almost all day and night. He deserved to eat something good. I was pretty sure he hadn't taken his lunch as he was here to give me a ride to the company. Calvin seemed startled when I offered him the sushi roll. He didn't even take it from me. Afraid that he wouldn't take it, I stretched my arm further. “Take it. You haven't had lunch yet, right? Don't worry, I can cook pretty well. This will be your lunch.” “Ms. Zanetti—” I interrupted him with a wave and curled my lips into a grin. “All right, you don't have to thank me. I know Dominic must've tortured you a lot. This is my thank you gift for you.” It took Calvin a while to regain his composure and take the sushi roll from me. He seemed touched by my gesture. “Thank you, Ms. Zanetti,” he said gratefully. “Ah, didn't I tell you not to thank me?” After a while, Calvin suddenly said, “Mr. Hartnell didn't torture me. He's a great boss.” I had said that as a joke, but seeing how serious Calvin was at defending Dominic, I nearly burst out laughing. Boy... he is so loyal to Dominic. If he were a woman, I'd certainly suspect that he harbored feelings for Dominic. On the way to Dominic's office, I chatted with Calvin. Though he wasn't a talkative person, he'd answer all of my questions. As we talked, I suddenly got curious as to how he got to know Dominic. “Calvin, did you get to know Dominic in Anglandur?” I asked. “Yes. Mr. Hartnell saved my life.”Oh, that's how he bought Calvin's loyalty. I was about to continue with my questions when the car rolled to a stop. Looking out, I was shocked to realize we had arrived at AI-L's headquarters. AI-L was a fashion brand which had risen to popularity in the country two years ago. There was a rumor circulating on Twitter saying that though the fashion brand was popular overseas, its founder was a Chanaean. The founder seemed to be a patriotic man, for he moved the headquarters back to Chanaea last year. Back then, the news became a trending topic on Twitter. As AI-L's founder remained mysterious, it increased their popularity. Though I had read about the news, I never thought about buying any clothes by that brand. After all, it was pretty expensive—as pricey as other luxurious brands. “Ms. Zanetti, we've arrived,” Calvin said to me. I got out of the car and stared at the high-rise building, which was AI-L's headquarters. Stunned, I asked, “Is Dominic inside? Don't tell me he's that patriotic businessperson who's AI-L's founder?” Calvin nodded in all seriousness. “Yes, Mr. Hartnell did establish AI-L. It's one of Hartnell Group's subsidiary.” I suddenly had difficulty breathing. That popular fashion brand is just a subsidiary? Goddamn it, now I know why Dominic's mother despises me. Camille's slander might've been one of the reasons, but his mother must also think I'm a scheming woman. That thought alone made me realize how difficult my future would be. “Ms. Zanetti, this way, please,” Calvin said and gestured for me to follow him. I entered the skyscraper after Calvin in a hasty manner. He brought me to the top floor. There was only one office on this floor, but there was a secretary sitting outside the office. The male secretary rose to his feet upon spotting us. “Mr. Merchant, Mr. Hartnell has left orders. You can head in once you've arrived.” Calvin nodded, his gaze icy, before turning to me. “Ms. Zanetti, you can head in now. Mr. Hartnell must be waiting for you.” I nodded and relayed my thanks to the secretary before pushing the door open. Dominic was busy with work. He didn't even greet me and merely pointed at a desk beside his. I took a seat and propped my chin on my hand as I stared at him. Pfft, he's crazy rich.
