Chapter 195 Ashur

Ashur I was away from Merna only for three of our days which was the equivalent of a month for Merna. When I first saw Merna she looked tired and exhausted. She had explained to me that with the time that I had been gone, she had managed to take over some territory that was plague by our enemy. While she was doing this, several attempts to kidnap children and adults had been stopped. Since it was summertime a few of the constellation council members had asked if they could take a vacation, utilizing the space that Merna had at her dwelling. In the beginning, Merna did not see any issues with this. Since she had plenty of room, she was only utilizing ten percent of the space. What she did not take into consideration was the noise level from the children. It was not that she had an issue with children; she liked children a lot. The issue that she was having is that she did not have peace and quiet and time to herself. She was not accustomed to the noise level which distracted her from the task at hand. “What is it that you need help with?” I saw her getting frustrated with the children running around in the hallway. Closing the door to her office. “I am trying to get the budget completed. I need to also deal with my personal business, mail off any orders that have been purchased ANDDDDD … I need to go to my other house that I am renting out. There is a leak in the roof that needs to be taken care of. ARG!” Merna dragged her hands down her face. There was a knock at the door. Yelling, “who is it?” Opening the door, “Cancer just called a meeting? He wants everyone to be there!” Sagittarius said. Merna sighed, “I am not going until I get the rest of the human born … mundane things done first. If I do not get this done we are going to end up having more issues.” Sagittarius cleared his throat, “what type of problems that cannot wait until later?” I could sense that my mate was starting to become frustrated. Stressed out with trying to juggle a mundane life along with dealing with multi realm business. “I think what my mate is trying to tell you, is that by focusing solely on Council business Merna is falling behind on things that need to be done in the physical realm. Since she has focused the majority of her energy on everybody else's problems. Solving issues that keep on arising. Completing tasks that come her way plus more on top of that. And in the meetings that happen on a regular basis. She has not completed the tasks that need to be done here. As important as this meeting is also ensuring that other tasks that are personal need to be taken care of as well.“ I spoke for my mate. Sagittarius seemed to be angry, not liking the fact that Merna did not want to go to the meeting. “We are all busy, this is our life!” “Sagittarius it is not that I do not want to go to this meeting, it is the fact that I cannot go to this meeting. I am almost a week behind on shipping off orders that should have been mailed off several days ago. My rental has a leak in the roof that needs to be taken care of. Not once, twice, or three times but five times my tenant has told me about the leak. It is getting worse. She told me about this like five months ago and nothing has been done. If I lose my tenet or the money from selling products, the orphans have no food, no clothing or anything else. Everyone is busy, that is true, but it is a family effort to bring in money. The last time I looked I was the only one that brought in money for this household. I am a major financial contributor for all the costs that this whole group benefits from. Those funds are going to go down fast if I do not get the mundane things here done. So it is correct that I am not going to the meeting … suck it up! Nobody else has stepped in to help me out in the personal human born life. I can not be expected to solve every problem. You expect me to go to every single meeting plus work out on the field plus … Do this and do that and expect me to run a business that takes care of a lot of the financial issues. Where do I get a break?” Sagittarius stepped into the office and closed the door. Sagittarius sighed, “You are right, any personal business is family run. A group effort! You have been involved in every meeting and have also been the one to lead the hunting parties. Any special events you have allowed the parents to attend and you took their place making sure that everyone is happy. You take care of everything! You have been so efficient at everything … I overlooked the fact that when it comes to your personal life, you do not have the regular support that other families have.” The children started yelling in the hallway as their little feet thudded on the floor. Opening the door, “Take it outside!” Sagittarius yelled. “You said there is a leak in your rental! Do you know how to fix a roof?” Taking a deep breath in, “I was going to drive there tomorrow and assess the damage and make several hundred phone calls.” “Buy the material and we will fix it! Give me the address! Tell your tenant that someone will be there tomorrow. If she causes a fuss …” “Oh she wont, she just wants her stuff to remain dry when it rains!” Merna rubbed the side of her head. “It sounds like a bad leak!” “In all honesty the roof has not been fixed in almost twenty five years. Pierre was going to get it done, but nothing happened so he left it.”Sagittarius nodded his head, "what else needs to be done?” “I have to budge things for next month … because I lost business from not sending out the orders. I have been getting bad reviews. What used to be a five star has dropped to three in the last six months. I have lost fifty percent of my personal income. For three months it did not affect anything, next month it will show. I will have to watch how much I use my utilities here.” “One moment!” Sagittarius ran out of the room. “Moments later he was back with two females. “Give the list of things that need to be packed and shipped off! The ladies are heading into the town soon, they will mail it off for you.” Turning her chair around, Merna printed off everything that needed to be packed, the address. The females headed to Merna’s storage area and got to work. Sagittarius looked at Merna, “The budgeting I am going to leave up to you. And do not ask Jennifer … She only knows how to spend money!” I could tell Sagittarius wanted this to be a joke but there was truth behind everything he said. Merna would do a combination of working on the computer only to run to her storage room to make sure that the numbers were adding up. When she was working on the computer she would explain what she was doing. When Jennifer came back, she informed Merna that all the orders that were behind sent them off as express delivery. One hour after that Merna had finished balancing the finances. “How do things look?” I asked. “After all expenses … I am out three hundred dollars. The only thing that will help is if I sell more products. Which … I have looked at that and I am running out. I need to go to the woods and start foraging. I also thought about selling items here that I do not need nor use … like my car!” “What do you need to collect?” Merna pulled out a little black book and started to name off all of the herbs and roots that she needed to restock. Taking the page out of her book, I told her that she will have everything that she needs soon. As much as I wanted to remain with my mate, I knew the sooner I got the serfs to collect what she needed, the better for her. Once I got back I spoke to my father about getting a few serfs to collect the plants that Merna needed for her business. As I have assumed, my father gave me the approval to do so. “How is our mate doing?” I told my father about her struggles. “She is a hard worker. The problem is she wants everything done at the same time. She is working too fast and too hard. Allowing herself to burn out because she did not recharge.” After this conversation, father told Camile that instead of cleaning his personal chamber, she would be going to Merna's place to help Merna with her business. The only thing Merna would have to do was ship the products off. The next thing my father did was get some gold to give to Merna. In my father's words even a hunter gets paid!
