You Were Warned

Chapter 165 Merna

Merna I was keeping to the original plan that Pierre and I had made. Sunday at noon I was to drive to the location. Once I have gotten there I would call the police. Getting to where Pierre and the others had set up their tents, everything was a mess. I was sure that there was not one item that had not been destroyed. I personally thought this was an overkill, but Zefer did say, they destroyed everything. Getting back to the truck I pulled out my phone and called the appropriate authorities. I had to prepare myself for an appropriate reaction to a scene. If I was over dramatic it would seem suspicious though if there were no reactions at all, that too would appear out of sorts. So I went with a stunned reaction! I explained to the receiver that my husband was missing along with the other people that he was camping with. Everything that they took was mangled and there was blood everywhere. I informed the receiver of the brand of truck I was driving and the location of where I was. With a lot of yes ma’am, no ma’am and a final okay I will stay until help arrives! I kept the same persona when two cop cruisers arrived at the scene thirty minutes later. Leading the way to the campsite I answered their questions like Pierre and I had practice. We both knew this was the crucial part. If the authorities did not believe me I would have other authorities down my throat and I would not get the money Pierre had intended for me. Officer Waterloo had a string of colourful words flow out of his mouth. Captain Kedabem muttered how no one was supposed to be camping on this side of the road. I had informed Captain Kedabem that Markous had bought the land and hired my husband to bring them here. They were to survey the land and from that point, Pierre was to give them advice. What this all meant I was not sure, but I did know they were to be ready to leave around noon that day. Captian Kedabem had called for back up while Officer Waterloo continued to ask me questions. My sight landed on Pierre’s tent, 'I wonder if Chaos and Ashur felt the aching and pains as I do?' I had lost full concentration on what was going on as I gazed into the distance. "May I get your name?" Officer Waterloo asked me. My tone was robotics as I answered all of the questions again, this time the officer had written everything down. As the area filled with more officers, I was asked to leave the location but not before one of the officers asked me if I was native to this location.“No sir, my husband and I moved here only a month and a bit ago.” The officer whose name I did not get started to snarl at me. Mentioning how outsiders do not have any respect for their ways. "Okay Mrs. Palmer, I will need you to come with me to the road. We will need to take a statement from you!" Softly whispering, Officer Waterloo told me not to pay attention to the old man. That he did not mean what he had said. He continued to inform me that things like this happened when outsiders came along. They did not understand how the wild life behaved and situations like this happen all the time. I nodded my head to let the officer know I was listening. “How long do you think it will take to find my husband alive?” I knew the answer to that, but I had to ask, it was part of the plan. Officer Waterloo forced a smile telling me they would do everything in their power to get my husband back alive and well. He had a few more questions for me, which I answered by pulling out Pierre’s phone. The officer seemed surprised that I was able to get the phone to work in this area. Since there have been so many reports of electronics not working here. Shrugging my shoulders I found Steve's number, it was the only number Pierre had since he did all the business transactions through him. While the officers were asking questions, I could feel Ashur's eyes watching me from the woods. The pain that surged inside of me was making it difficult for me to breathe. Clutching my chest I fell to the ground. It started as silent tears. covering my mouth with my hand I tried to muffle the sounds that begged to be released. Nearby officers glanced at one another not knowing what to do with this scene. Up until now, I was stunned, but then reality hit me like a brick to the head. Glancing up into the tree line, everyone saw the bushes moving with nothing being there. No breeze to cause the movement. "He left me!" I wailed. "He left me!" "Mrs. Palmer ... Mrs. Palmer!" I could hear someone shouting my name. I have only ever cried on Pierre’s shoulder, any other time, I was a closet cryer. Not allowing my emotions to be displayed. Opening my eyes I saw three officers standing over me, "He left me!" I whimpered as more tears flowed down my face.Again the bushes moved. Causing the officers to be more spooked. Officer Waterloo was standing over top of me, "You passed out for a moment!" "He left me!" I glared up at the officer. "I am going to help you back up off the ground and get you to sit in my cruiser!" He placed his hand under my arm, effortlessly lifting me. "Do you have anyone that we could call?" I shook my head no! Opening the door I sat in the passenger seat, "We have a few things that need to be done here. After that do you think you will be fine to get yourself home?" “If I can not drive, it is only a hour walk from here!” My voice was shaky. Not because I was scared of the situation but from the effects of being separated from my mates. As long as I buried my emotions I was able to deal with the loss and longing. There was something about one thought of their names that sent me over the dam. It was Officer Lopaz who was now questioning me. One thing Pierre and I discussed was not saying everything the same way. To keep the main points but to purposefully omit or add new information. This time I stuttered and I would mix the names up. When asked why I moved here, the first time I said to get away from city life. This time I told Officer Lopaz that I wanted a new start. Everything I told to them was similar but not the same words. “I think I have enough information here. If we have any more questions we will call you.” I opened the door of my truck. “One more thing Mrs. Palmer … you said that Markous bought this land?” “Yes ma’am!” “Thank you for your time!” I sat in the truck for the longest time. To the officers, it would look as if I was glaring into the abyss. What I was doing was remote viewing. Seeing what the officers were doing. In the far north of this property, they found Pierre's body. It was muffled but I heard over the officer's speaker that they needed someone to transport a body to the nearby hospital. Closing my eyes I allowed my head to rest on the back of the seat. Taking a couple of breaths, I swallowed the lump that was forming in my throat. I allowed tears to fall down my cheek. Wiping the tears away, I turned on the truck engine and started to drive off.
