You Were Warned

Chapter 107 Master, Ashur

*Master* The reports were coming in rapidly. Ashur and Zefer worked closely with me as we set everything up. We had extracted as much information out of the captives as we could. That they turned into a food source for the eternals. The recruits were in dire need of nourishment and killed the prisoners without a second thought. I could not blame the act, they haven’t had anything in aeons. It is only normal to think that they would devour their food without saving it for a later time. Out of the forty-two million plus recruitments, I sent eighteen hundred of them out on personal missions. Most of them were well-known among their class as trained assassins. The others were aspiring killers. The name that continued to present itself was Pierre. I knew from the beginning he was more than Sadragon’s mate, he had a nature that was meant for this. As I handed out the tasks to them, I allowed the mated to spend a short amount of time with their spouse before they would have to part. Each assassin was given a picture of the individual that they were to kill. The location of the target was last seen. How they got the task done, I could not care less, I just wanted the job done! The assassin was also given instructions to return here once the task was completed. Ashur Things were becoming hectic and I loved everything about this. I have never felt so alive. I was dealing with more of the reports from the earthly realm plus the recruitments. Zefer was dealing with the reports that flooded to us from the other realms plus working with me with the recruitments when I was out doing a task that needed to be looked after. Millions of heads have been dropped off here and it is steadily growing. Even Zefer was starting to like Merna a little more each time the portal opened. More human borns were starting to be reported missing. Once there was only one human born one Earth day. Reports were coming in stating on an average Earth day, twenty-nine human borns would go missing never to be seen again. All leads brought us to Mannel and his followers. Yet we could still not get the evidence to prove the human borns were with them. As it stands, it was all speculation. It had been a suggestion that I make a list of assassins to be sent out to kill the Mannel and his followers. The issue with that, as fast as our enemies would appear, they would be gone. It was Zefer who started to see a pattern of how Mannel was hunting. We didn’t know the exact point Mannel was hiding, but we could start to survey the terrain and eliminate the threat. Compiling this information, we were able to assign assassins their tasks. While this was all going on there was one face that came to my thoughts. Pierre! The chances of him not returning were high, but I also knew that his target would not survive either. Sadragon would not be pleased with this decision, though if Pierre comes back in one piece, he will have climbed the ranks with just one event. A risk I know Sadragon and Pierre would take. Pierre will have earned the respect of my father and would be treated no differently than myself. Glancing over the initial that was given, I also read the concerns of the other subtitled species also known as mixed breeds. The human borns that were taken were of the elemental chromosome which upset many of their watchers. Placing the reports down on the table everything started to add up. My father's siblings were not just wagering war on us … but all species. Species from A to Z are being targeted. As the leader of all realms, my father did not notice this. Leaving my domain I rushed to our record-keeping department. Entering the location, I spotted the mage of records. “Where are the complaint records that are sent to my father from other leaders?” I inquired. The mage started to stutter, “there are many who send complaints my lord!” “Where are they?” I was determined to solve the thought that was in my mind. “Follow me my lord!” The mage said as he strolled past several shelves full of records that we had collected since we took over leadership here. I glanced at the tag on the shelf, elementals, “these files hold all of the complaints that date back to when your father took over the colonisation of the Western continents. Each shelf is categorised by species.” I nodded my head as I glanced at all of the shelves. Knowing this was going to take a while I called on my sisters to aid me in my investigation. Glancing at the mage, I spoke. “Are these files organised by event in order?” I inquired. “I take great pride in the task your father has graciously bestowed on me, yes my lord, everything is in order!” One at a time my sisters showed up, “we need to go through all of the files that pertain to the last five earth decades. I am looking for missing human-borns!” Aruru was the first to speak, “why would we care about complaints of human borns going missing?” “Oh I know something!” Alma jumped up and down, “mum’s mate … she used to do a lot of work with files and stuff like that … she would know what to look for!” I snapped my fingers, “get her now!” I brought my attention to Aruru, “I believe that our kin have been collecting human borns for a very long time. This is not something that started this season.” I huffed out in frustration. “We did not pay attention to the events because we did not care what happened to the human borns, it didn’t pertain to our lives. Now … we have a lot of work to do … pair up and let's get to work.” Glancing at one box full of complaints, I had already found fourteen missing human borns, each of them having ties with mages, elementals, the fae, and changelings. “You asked for assistance, my lovely!” My mother came to me, giving me her motherly love. I explained briefly what it was that I was searching for. While we were speaking Camile was getting to work. Understanding what it was that she was asked to do. Glancing over at my mother, ‘she is good!’ In a short time, Camile was able to find five hundred and eighty-five missing human borns. They all had gone missing with no trace. Not all of them had magical links to the elementals, some of them had blood ties to the bugbears, dwarfs, and changelings. Sabit still had her hands and eyes focused on the file in front of her, “do you think this is enough evidence for father?” With the search that we had completed, we were about to find over six hundred thousand reports. Gathering up everything that is around me, “I think this is a start!” I glanced at everyone, “grab everything that you have found … father will want the physical proof!” Camile glanced at the mess that we had made, “should I clean this up? The head mage is not going to like this!” We all started to chuckle, we all knew that he wouldn’t be happy but there was not anything he could do about it. My mother kissed the top of her mate's head, “do not worry about small things like this. There are bigger issues at hand that must be looked after first.” Seeing this interaction, a ping of pain hit my chest. The longing to be with Merna had crept its way into my body.
