You Were Warned

Chapter 106 Merna, Kudiya

*Merna* Whoever said there is nothing in the darkness, obviously does not understand that matter is not biased, it exists everywhere. If you know what you are looking for, finding the portal to Chaos’s void is easy. Getting out of the void is a whole different thing though. As you can imagine, the area is the literal definition of its master's name. There seems to be no order to this domain. Avoiding the matter so that I stay conscious was tricky. It doesn’t matter how many times I came here, I still found myself dodging this and that. There was also the issue of the void absorbing energy. It took me a lot to learn how to move my legs without using a great deal of energy. I also had to learn how to hold my energy in so that the void wouldn’t take away everything from me. It almost felt like the void was feeding off of my energy. After the twenty- sixth time of my portal here, I had to take a break. With everything that I was doing, I could not keep up with the demand. I think in a small way Kudiya and Dath were thankful that I had asked for a break. Trying to have a polite conversation for once. “By the way Kudiya, you never told me how you and Dath were able to find me.” Kudiya gave me a toothy grin, “that is because I never told you!” I tried again, “So are you not going to tell me? It was not like it was an easy thing to do, I already had a head start plus I had jumped locations six times before you found me!” Keeping to his rotten temperament, “Is this your cheap way of trying to have a conversation?” I pointed out, trying to keep things civil, “How long have we been working together? It is not like I am a threat to you!” Hissing, “I do not like you!” Kudiya snarled at me. I huffed out and accepted the fact that he was going to remain cold and silent towards me. I glanced at Dath, “what about you?” He was a male of few words. The majority of the time remained silent as Kudiya and I bickered about everything. Snarling, “Why do females have this overwhelming need to talk when the males only want to rest in silence?” Gave me a nasty glare. I took the hint and resorted to doing my own little thing. Kudiya had learned fast not to question my actions. I did the work and they followed along for the ride. I manifested my map of the universe that I had created. It was not conventional like what others have seen. I didn’t name any moons, suns or planets, they were only landmarks for me. At first glance, the three- dimensional map appears with several tiny dots that are white. Using my mind to focus, I distinguish the difference between objects that produce light and matter that reflects light. The objects that reflect light, I will zone in on those objects. I will hunt for energy. The theory is that if matter repels light, it would mean that it shouldn’t be producing any significant amount of energy. It had happened that I had mistaken a rogue gas giant for a prison, which sent Kudiya into a frenzy. It was a mistake, a gas giant produces the same amount of energy as a floating prison. Since a gas giant floats freely without the gravitational pull of a solar system, in my eyes it is easy to mistake one for the other. The only way to figure it out is to go and investigate. Too bad Kudiya could not figure that out. What I was searching for was irregularities, objects that moved freely with no balance at all. They were the energies that broke the rules. Once I found an irregularity I would use my mind to see what was there. If it was of interest I would gather my things up and head on out. Seconds turned into minutes, hours then I found what I was searching for. It was not far from here. It would be a hop skip and jump. Using my mind, I studied the area around this object. Watching how the object interacted with the location. As far as I could tell it was the same idea as the other irregularities. A mass of matter bound into a rock that would jump location when it was cast to do so. Measuring the size of this mass, it could easily house nineteen to twenty-two thousand entities. This would be my first big find! If it proved to be what I believed it to be. I snapped my head toward Kudiya, “Are you two done sitting around?” I said as I stood up from the ground. “Let’s go!” Kudiya said not to be impressed. One glance at him I could tell that he probably would have preferred to relax longer, but when I wanted to move, we moved. “Tired?” I snapped, giving Kudiya the same tone he was giving me. Head held high, “I am not weak like you!” He spat out at me. “Could have fooled me!” I said as I made a mental note of the desired location. Opening the portal we were off again. *Kudiya* ‘This female is a slave driver!’ Dath was complaining to me. ‘Does she not need to take a break? I thought you said she was weak!’ I snorted, ‘The rabbit is weak!’I was not about to admit that I was tired of going from one place to the next without a break. This female was worse than my father. Even he allowed the serfs and workers breaks in between shifts. Dath was not happy, I figured that most of his displeasure was directed towards me. Though I was having a hard time understanding why, I had a higher rank over this hybrid. She should be doing my bidding, not the other way around. ‘We have jumped from one location to the next. Unlocked one prison and another, recruited over forty million heads for your fathers army. And continued to the next task … think you are misusing the term weak.’ Dath barked at me as if I were still a child. Gnarring at Dath, "Remember your place Dath!’ ‘Yes sir!’ His tone was sarcastic. When she suggested we take a break, Dath was happy and I had a smile on my face knowing I was right. The rabbit did have a point where she needed to rest. While sitting down and getting a quick bite to eat she tried to make small talk. I shot her down as fast as possible. Pointing out an observation, ‘The look on her face tells me she is pissed!’ Dath commented. I snorted, ‘I do not care and do not dare start making small talk with her either.’ I hissed at Dath. ‘She is to perform a task, not make small talk with us!’ She might have been tired but that did not stop her next action. Like the other times, the rabbit studied a map. After her doing this several times I was starting to understand her ways. And judging by the way she was doing her throat noise she was planning on moving again. Dath was glaring daggers my way, he caught on to what the rabbit was going to do. ‘I curse you Kudiya … all you had to do was be a little nicer and we could have had a longer break.’ He snorted at me, ‘you might not be tired BUT I AM!’ I was starting to regret my short temper. ‘Shut it!’ I was not happy about this situation. I thought for sure she was going to need a break. I was not about to admit I miscalculated this hybrid. “Have you had long enough of a break?” She had her hands on her hip, “I am leaving to check out another location. If you need to stay, I am sure Dath will be able to find me in no time.” She said the last part as she glanced at Dath. “Why did your father send you Kudiya again?” She tapped her chin with her finger, “ah that is right you’re the translator! The only thing you seem to be good at, besides being a dick!” Snapping her last bit of words at me. She opened the portal and was heading on out again. Grumbling Dath got up and rushed after the rabbit.‘SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!’ I cursed, ‘I really do hate these human born!’ Correcting me, ‘Hybrid … The daughter of Pirapancam, you mean! She might be partially human born, but she is proving to be more than just what individuals want to see!’ Dath snarled in my mind. ‘Father is going to hear about this!’ I thought to myself.
