Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 93

“So, Mr. Lincoln, we have as many buildings as you want, but their prices are no longer the same as last week. They have kind of increased.” The manager informed, holding the catalogue. “Alright then. Please show me your catalogue.” Charles requested politely. The manager passed the catalogue to James and James gave it to Charles. Charles went through the catalogue, and was quite pleased with the different buildings he saw there. “Well, if their prices are now hiked, I believe they are all worth it.” Charles spoke, nodding his head in satisfaction. Then his eyes caught a perfect building which he felt he could use for his tech company. Then he checked the price, and it was a whooping sum of 5 billion dollars. Charles thought about how he could get that amount. It was possible if he removed the money from all his accounts. He had made several investments recently, and most of his money, gone. “Alright, I’ll take this one. My manager here, will bring it in cash once I withdraw it from the bank.” Charles said, certain that things would go well. “Alright, no problem. We only give you a claim on it for 3 days when you haven’t paid, but after 3 days, any customer who wants it, will get it.” The manager informed politely. “I understand.” Charles responded. Then the manager brought out a claim form which Charles signed, and then he left with James. “Wow. That’s huge money, boss.” James exclaimed as they both walked out of the company. “I know right? But eyes on the prize, as I said earlier.” “Yeah, sure. So, when do we withdraw this?” James asked, inquisitively. “We can do that tomorrow. We’ll get to the bank as early as we can, and then we’ll start off.” “Alright, noted.” Both Charles and James got into the car, and drove back home. But when Charles got home, he was surprised to see someone he never thought would ever come over to his house. He hid his surprised face, and walked gallantly until he got to him. “What are you doing here?” Charles questioned, without a hint of softness on his face. “I know you are not pleased to meet me right now, but please allow me to see you.” George pleaded, calmly.Charles couldn’t hide this surprise this time. George was totally calm, and unlike the proud person he once was. So, Charles decided to hear him out, and then sat down. “Alright, I’m all ears. You don’t have all time, you know.” “Alright, so the thing is, I have pondered deeply on all I did to people, including you, and I feel so terrible about it. I got into power, and allowed it to mislead me, so I decided to turn a new leaf, and it’s been working out, thanks to you. But there’s something I really need now.” “Which is?” “Please I need my companies back. I have learned my lesson, and I also want to make it right in my company too. Remember you closed them down due to the illegal things I did there.” Charles pondered on what George said, and one thing that made George lucky was that he was not his arch enemy, and he knew that George was just acting the way dirty politicians act. And since he had learned his lesson, it wasn’t bad for him to let him off the hook. “Alright, I’ll see what I can do to that. But in exchange, whenever I need you, you have to be available. You might be useful to me, to at least pay back the mercy I’m showing to you, now.” “Sure, it’s fine. I will.” Both George and Charles stood up, and shook hands, then George left. Charles sat and exhaled, then called his maid to serve him wine. He was glad that someone like George had turned a new leaf, rather than looking for a way to get back at him like the others were bent on doing that. His maid walked up to him and served him his wine, and dropped the bottle with him as well, then left. But then, someone rang the doorbell again. “Oh, goodness. Who is it again?” He muttered under his breath. His maid opened the door, and when Charles set his eyes on Angela, he felt disgusted. “What has she come here to do, again?” He thought to himself. He would have stopped Angela from coming, a long time ago, but he just felt he might have a use for her, anytime. She could mistakenly drop secrets she isn’t supposed to, or when he has his mind reading skills, he could use it on her. Although, she had never visited at that moment, so he allowed her to keep coming even all she had ever come to say, was trash. He watched as she walked in, and could tell she seemed to have a plan or sort. “What are you here for?” He asked her as she got closer to him. “I just need you to hear me out, Charles.” She said as she sat down opposite him, and stared at the wine he was drinking. “Can’t you offer your guest a glass of wine, at least?” “Why should I? You are no guest to me, Angela.” Charles said, calmly, trying not to flare up. “I know right? But I’m here, calm, to speak, so you should at least, offer me a drink, even if it is out of sarcasm.” Charles’ palm’s heel connected to his forehead, and he decided to permit her annoying behavior for now, just to hear what she had to say. Then he signaled to his maid to get another glass of wine. Angela on the other hand, was thinking of the perfect way she could do what Mark asked her to do, because it was seeming difficult. When she brought the glass cup, he thanked her, but before he could face Angela again, he was interrupted by numerous beeps from his phone. “Excuse me.” He uttered, then checked his phone. To his horror, they were messages of debits from all his bank accounts.
