Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 92

The next day, Charles woke up to the lovely humming sounds of the birds. He sat up, and stared at his phone’s to-do-list. He was ready to do what he had to do. Then he dialed both James’ and Vera’s number, telling them to come over to his house for a meeting. In an hour, they both got to his house, and he walked downstairs to meet with them. “Good morning. I called you here for a meeting regarding my new business idea.” Charles revealed calmly. “Whoa. That’s really amazing. A new business idea is exciting.” James spoke out, with composed excitement. “I know right? I have actually had this idea for a while now, but this is the right time to actually work on it, before I continue dealing with those annoying people.” “Okay, so what do you need us to do to make this work, and come alive?” vera questioned, with her notepad, and pen in her hand. “Alright, I need people that are into robotics stuff. People who love tech stuff, you know. So, Vera, I’ll need you to publicize that, and the meeting with them has to be today as well. Do you think that’s possible?” “Uhm… Well, it looks sort of challenging, but due to your popularity, and image, I think it can be possible.” Vera responded with enthusiasm. “Alright. As for James, I need us to process getting all the tools, and equipment needed for this project.” “Okay, noted. But don’t you think we might need one or two investors? It sounds like a really big project.” James uttered, with concern. “I do not need investors on this one, James. I want to pull this out all by myself. And if it is resources you’re worried about, all these would be provided for.” Charles assured, and sipped his wine. “Alright then.” James replied respectfully. He hoped that he had not stepped on Charles’ ego by suggesting that they needed investors. James wanted to be the best support to Charles, but he was thankful that Charles didn’t take offense to his suggestion. “Alright, so I placed the ad online, and a lot of people are already turning up.” Vera reported with a smile on her face. “Wow. That’s cool.” James commented, with his mind, blown.Charles smiled, and was satisfied with how things were turning out. He trusted in the skills of both Vera and James, and that’s why he keeps them close like the way a mother hen would keep her eggs close. Although, that was also dependent on their loyalty, but Charles was certain that they were the one for him as they had always been there, and ensuring the best for him, regardless of the hitches and dangers they came across. “So, how many tech pros do you need for this, Charles?” Vera asked, ready to process the admittance. “Well, I might need about 50-100. Like you know, it’s a big project, and we need many hands as we can get.” Charles replied, and nodded his head. “Alright then. On it. I’ll put a pause to the venue we want them to come in since we haven’t talked about where you want them in.” “Alright. Uhm… When James and I sort out what we are going for, I’ll text you on the venue. But make them feel like it is under a probability that we’ll have the meeting today, in case we end up not having it today.” Charles instructed and stood up. Vera wondered what had reduced Charles’ enthusiasm so soon. She knew that whenever he was so certain about something, and his mind was made up on it, he was going to achieve it, so she wondered why he wasn’t so sure. Charles and James headed out of the house, and got into the car. Then they drove off to a real estate manager’s office to get things sorted. Soon, they got to there, and they were welcomed warmly as the workers there, recognized Charles. Charles and James waited in the office, for the boss whom they were to speak to. “Isn’t the manager taking too long?” James voiced out, getting impatient. “Well, eyes on the prize, James.” Charles responded. Then the door opened, and the manager walked in. “Mr. Lincoln, it’s so nice to meet you physically.” The manager said as he extended his hand for a handshake. Charles could already feel the positivity in the air and hoped that he could get things done quickly. AT THE ADAMS’ HOUSE Angela was still thinking about her decision to either wait for her grandmother’s plan to kick out, or to carry out Mark’s plan. Even when her and her brother do fight most times, or sort, she still missed him and wanted him back home. It was certain that if Charles died, it would be easy to dump the case that wants Mark, arrested. So, she decided to check out how her grandmother’s plan was going, so she could have an idea of what to do next. Angela walked downstairs, and met her grandmother on a phone call. She stopped and lingered around to eavesdrop. “Alright, I really do not want too much time wastage. This man seems like the more days we leave him untouched; he gets stronger. Please act fast on it.” Mrs. Adam said, and hung up. Angela sighed, and wondered if their plans were going well at all. To satisfy her curiosity, and to also be certain, she decided to ask her grandmother. “Grandma, did anything go wrong?” She asked as she sat beside her. Mrs. Adam didn’t expect to see her, and she could tell that she had over heard her conversation with the gang, but she was not ready to feel like her plan was a sluggish one. “Nothing. I’m just trying to let them know how urgent this is. Just so they can work on something really fast.” “Oh, I see. Yeah, that’s true. But do you have 100% faith that this would work?” Angela asked, with concern. “Yes. Of course. Just lay back, and rest. Then watch how things play out.” Mrs. Adam uttered, and patted Angela on her hand. But Angela wasn’t so persuaded by that. She was rethinking on her decision to wait for her grandmother, and she could feel the positivity in Mark’s plan.
