Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 80

Josephine screamed so loud in anger that anyone who heard her scream would understand how pained she felt at that moment. She was angered by the way he left without feeling remorse. “How could you not feel remorse for what you did!” She yelled out loud in anger, and stomped her feet. Charles on the other hand, felt accomplished. He watched Josephine, sulk, through his mirror, and smiled. “You decided to cheat on your husband who is willing to give you everything, and you can’t bear when someone cheats you, or play with your feelings. Tch! You must be kidding me.” Charles said as he swerved to the left, through a corner. Then he picked up his phone, and dialed James’ number. James’ phone rang for about three times before he finally answered. “Where did you put your phone, man.” Charles questioned, although with humor. “I actually had it on silent, while working on a few things. Judging from the sound of your voice, it seems something good came up.” James said as he adjusted himself on the couch, with a smile. He was excited to hear what the good news could be, and also hoped that it would be that he had secured the deal. “Well, it is what we have been hoping for. I secured the deal, and the money has been transferred to Mr. Grayson’s company account. It is only about a matter of time before he finds out.” Charles revealed happily. “Wow! That’s good news! You really are amazing and capable of anything. I’m so glad! Mr. Grayson would be highly pleased and respect you even more.” James said, happily. “I know right? Well, his wife made it easy for me.” Charles brought about Josephine’s topic, while driving. “His wife? How did it happen?” James asked, with keen interest. “Well, she had interest in me.” “What! Even after getting married to a very wealthy man who can do about just anything for her?” “Some women are just greedy, and do not know what exactly they want.” Charles added. Exactly! So, what did you do? She just helped you because she had feelings for you?” James questioned, out of curiosity. “Nah. You know it won’t work out that way. I had to play her for a while before she walked into my net.” “Wow, fill me in, boss.” “I acted as if I had feelings for her as well, and she tested me too. Thank goodness, I passed the test.” “She tested you?” James asked, taken by surprise. He wondered how serious Mr. Dane’s wife was, with Charles, for her to test him. “Yes. She made one of her friends, make advances to me, but I ignored it, and they revealed it was just a test. I was actually glad it was a test, because I felt if it was real, her friend was going to be a hindrance to my progress.” “How?” “Josephine would keep thinking there’s something between us, or I like her friend, and that would slow down the progress by making her have doubts about me.” Charles illustrated. “Oh, that’s true. Very true.” James acknowledged, mind-blown by Charles’ intellect. “So, thankfully, she got into my trap, and I got the deal. Immediately I got the deal, she caught on that she had played right into my net, and that was damn funny, and nice.” Charles and James both laughed at this. Although, James was hired by Charles, but they still talked about a few things, and that made Charles more like the perfect boss. “Anyways, I just got to the airport, will talk to you later.” Charles said as he got down from his car. “Alright, boss.” As Charles brought out his luggage, he did the necessary for his car to be transported back to his city. After doing the necessary things, he walked into the airport, and waited until it was time for his flight. He got into the plane and sat beside the window. As soon as he balanced himself, he noticed someone who had a striking resemblance with Vera. He could almost say it was Vera, but he knew very well that Vera was busy working back home, and there was a slight difference in their physique. The lady came over, and sat beside him, then balanced herself as well. After adjusting to everything, she turned to him and smiled.“Hi. My name is Chloe, and you?” Charles was mind-blown with the way she looked so much like Vera. It was as if she stole her smile. If not that he knew Vera so much, he would have mistaken her for Vera, but that also brought back a memory he wished, went dead. It was when Rosaline was still very much alive, and had a striking resemblance with his mother. He cleared his throat, and thought that Chloe could be the bad version of Vera, so he only decided to make their conversation short and simple. “I’m Charles.” He replied, and put on his earpiece to avoid further conversations. Although, Chloe felt quite offended because it looked so obvious that he was trying to prevent further conversation, so she huffed, and put on her earpiece as well. Charles was glad that she got the message, and didn’t care if she was mad about it. He just couldn’t wait to get to the city, and have a meeting with Mr. Grayson. He was glad that he showed how capable he was. “I’m glad I took it up. Who ever knew I was going to ace this?” He thought to himself, and a smile appeared on his face. The cabin attendant came over, and served him juice and cookies as that’s what he asked for. His excitement made his tummy full, so he preferred to take something light. A few hours later, the plane landed, and every passenger got down from the plane. Charles stretched, and sniffed in the air, feeling fulfilled. “Ahh. This is home.” He voiced out, and put off his airplane mode. Messages began to scroll in, and one message out of all messages caught his attention, and sparking a bit worry from him. “I NEED YOUR HELP!” It was a message from Vera.
