Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 81

Charles was alarmed by Vera’s message, and immediately tried to reach her, but her line wasn’t reachable. “Shit!” He cursed out loud, and ran off to where his car was, then got into his car immediately. He started his car, and dialed Vera’s number again, but it still wasn’t reachable. So, he decided to call James as he didn’t know where Vera’s house was. James phone rang thrice before it was answered, then Charles put it on loudspeaker. “Hey, James. Where’s Vera right now?” Charles inquired immediately. “Hey Charles. It’s me, Vera.” Vera replied, with her voice, a little shaky. “Vera wasn’t that kind of woman who would act feeble, but for her voice to sound this way, then something must have happened to her.” Charles thought to himself. “Vera, I saw your text not long. What’s going on?” Charles asked, out of concern. “James is currently in the hospital. Can you come over to Hope Hospital?” Vera informed. “Wait! What! You know what? I’ll be right there.” Charles assured, and sped up to Hope Hospital. As soon as he got to Hope Hospital, he was ushered in to James’ ward. He was a bit relieved to see that it wasn’t something too serious. “What happened?” Charles asked. “I just had a terrible sprain, so I’m going to have to put on this cast for a while.” James said, trying not to make him worry too much.” “I need you guys to explain what happened to me. Starting from when Vera sent me a text.” Charles said, and turned to look at Vera who smacked her lips. “Alright, the thing is that as I was on my way home, a few men wanted to attack me, or if possible, abduct me in the process. So, I panicked and texted you, almost forgetting the fact that you aren’t around.” “And she called me, and I was able to get there before they were able to surround her. I put up a good fight, and they backed off, but left me with this.” James explained further, and referred to his arm. “Are you okay?” Charles asked Vera. “Yes, I am.”Then he turned to James. “You should have called for back up or sort. You have my guards’ numbers. What if they did more than spraining your ankle?” Charles nagged, out of worry. “I know. I get it. But I’m thankful I’m fine, and that you sealed the deal.” “Let’s not talk about the deal, now. Did you perhaps get any clue on who they were, or who sent them?” Charles questioned, and folded his arms. “Yes. We overheard the leader saying they can’t do much since the real target is not in sight, and they one of the minions said Mark’s name.” James revealed, and exhaled. Anger built up in Charles’ heart, and he almost could shout at the top of his voice. “What the hell! So, Mark is behind this? Even when he is still in hiding? So, he is really bent on taking my life.” “I think we should still trust the cops on it. I’m sure they’ll get him in no time. What’s more important is the court day. Let’s allow no distractions.” Vera interrupted, getting back to the Vera who Charles knew. “The court meeting would be starting tomorrow by 12pm, so before then, I have a meeting with Mr. Grayson.” Charles listed out his schedule. “Okay, I think what you need now is to rest. James is quite better now, as you can see. Tomorrow is a big day.” Vera advised. Charles smacked his lips, and then exhaled sharply. “Alright. But we are still going to work on that son of a bitch. James, I hope you can still make researches, and have someone to tail a person.” Charles asked. “Yes, of course. My sprained ankle isn’t a problem.” James assured, with a smile. “Okay. I need you to put a tail on Angela. Let’s see if she knows where are brother is. The moment you catch sight of that, you need to alert me, especially if it looks like somewhere, he doesn’t stay in.” Charles instructed. “Alright. So, if it is somewhere, he stays, then there’s no need for a very quick action.” “Yes. If it were possible, I’ll place a grenade in that son of a bitch’s house, and blow him up.” Charles, said, in between his teeth. His hatred for Mark had grown, and all he wanted was to destroy him totally without forgiveness. “Calm down, Charles. We will give him what he deserves.” Vera assured, with a slight smile. Charles inhaled and exhaled, then walked out of the ward, and paid James’ hospital bills. After making payment, he walked out of the hospital to his car, then drove home. While driving home, he felt bad that Vera’s life was endangered because of him, and James who saved her, got his ankle severely sprained. He could tell it was severely sprained since he wasn’t out of the hospital yet, and this made him hate the Adam’s family more, wishing he never came across them. But just as they made him wish he never came across them, he was going to do the same to them, and there was no one on earth who could stop him from dealing with them, a thousand-fold. As soon as he got home, he walked up to his bedroom, and pulled off his clothes, then went into the bathroom to have a shower. He was proud of himself that he had achieved something which he had doubts on, before leaving. But he also planned that when he was done with the foundation of the project he had with Mr. Grayson, he was going to start his own project which the system had given to him as an idea. After he was done with bathing, he put on his robe, and laid on the bed comfortably, and his phone beeped. Charles picked up his phone, and noticed it was a text from an unknown number, so he opened it, and it read: “How does it feel to have what’s yours, tampered with? Well, I must have made you angrier. But let me tell you what. There is no fucking way you can get me, and from my hiding place, I will destroy all you have built with your hands.”
