Revenge of the Rejected
Charles halted in his steps, and wondered who exactly was in there with her, or if she wasn’t the second person he was seeing, then who were the two people there? He wanted to wait to eavesdrop on anything they could be saying, but then, he feared that Rosaline could be in danger at that moment. So, he walked inside, and to his surprise, it was Rosaline, and her landlady. Charles gave a look like he was wondering why the landlady came over again, but he hoped there was no problem. “Is there any problem?” He asked, out of curiosity. “Oh! Nothing. I only came to check up on her as I do sometimes to my good tenants. I was about leaving when you came in.” The landlady said, with a smile, and walked out of the house. Charles’ gaze didn’t go off her until she was totally out of the house, and then he turned his gaze back to Rosaline. “I do hope there’s nothing wrong.” He asked again, out of concern. “No. There’s no problem. Come over, I prepared something for you.” Rosaline urged as he walked to the dining room, and waited for me to sit. Charles never expected that she was going to cook him dinner when he was about having his at home. But then, he felt it couldn’t be only because of the dinner that she called him. “So, what’s the occasion?” Charles asked as he stared at her while she sat. “Well, I heard of what you did for me, and I decided to thank you. Although, I feel somewhat uncomfortable, and it also feels like I got this privilege because I have your mother’s face.” “No. I kind of expected you to think this way, but I just decided to help, and there’s nothing bad in I, helping you. So, it’s fine.” “Thank you so much. I’ll look for a way to repay you. Do not reject it.” Rosaline said, with a smile. “I won’t. By the way, we can go on an outing, sometime right? You don’t mind, right?” “Yes, I don’t mind.” Charles and Rosaline talked for a while before he finally decided to leave, and their conversation left Charles a bit peaceful in his heart. He was aware he was getting attached to Rosaline, almost the way he would, to his mother. “Bye. Be careful!” Rosaline voiced out as she bade hum goodbye the moment he got into his car. Charles waved back, and drove back home. He got back home full, and walked into the room, then pulled off his clothes, and wore something comfortable. He placed his arms on his waist, and stared at his calendar. He had recorded all he wanted to do, and those people he wanted to take down little by little, so he marked the Governor, and left Angela. “I know you’re still going to come at me, so let’s not mark you.” He said, under his breath. Charles exhaled, and felt a bit fulfilled, then laid down on the bed to sleep. The next day, he woke up, feeling energetic. So, everything he had to do to get ready, he did it in a fast mode until he got to the sitting room where his two guards were waiting for him. “Alright, let’s leave.” Charles urged them as he adjusted his tie. They got into the car, and were driven off to a car company. Charles smirked, and scoffed. He went in with his guards, and everyone who saw him greeted him until he went into the elevator where only he and his guards were in. Charles stared at his phone, and Vera’s call came in. “Good. So, what’s the update.” “He has a free schedule right now, and in about thirty minutes, your target will arrive.” Vera reported to me, professionally. “Alright, got it.” Soon, the elevator reached their destination, and they walked out. Charles walked up to the reception on this floor, and the secretary stood up immediately she sighted him. “Good day, Governor. What brings you here?” She asked politely, with a slight smile on her face. “I came here to see Mr. Darwin. Is he in?” Charles requested as he slid his right hand into his pocket. “Yes…Yes. But…” Charles could tell she was nervous, and didn’t know what exactly to do. He didn’t have an appointment with Mr. Darwin, and it was also rude for her to take a decision which wasn’t hers in the first place. “It’s alright. You won’t be scolded on.” Charles assured her, and walked right into Mr. Darwin’s office. His guards stayed back, looking like stone-built men whom bullets, and other harmful things could not shake them from protecting Charles. As Charles walked in, Mr. Darwin who was sipping his hot coffee while admiring the scenery outside from the glass wall, looked shock as he sighted Charles walk in. “Governor? It’s… It’s a pleasure to meet you. What brings you here?” He asked as he dropped the coffee, and gestured for Charles to have his seat. Charles loved the way he was treated, and he knew that things would go well from the first impression he got. “I came here to settle a deal with you, Mr. Darwin, and I hope you can make me happy.” Charles replied and exhaled as he leaned against the chair. “Oh! As long as it is in my power, I’ll definitely be able to help out, and make such a man like you, happy. After all, you make us all happy, so we have to do so in return.” Mr. Darwin uttered happily. Then he spoke to his secretary over the phone for her to bring Charles a cup of coffee. Although, Charles wasn’t interested, but he had to, so it wouldn’t seem like he only came to use Mr. Darwin because he needed him. As soon as the coffee was served, Charles sipped, and resumed to the situation at hand. “I heard you closed a 50 million deal on partnership. I’m here to give you an information and a chance which would be useful for you.”
