Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 60

Angela felt her anger build up as she felt George certainly had a hand in this. She viewed him as a shameless person since he did such. Just because he linked her with wealthy people who could patronize her doesn’t mean he could take all that away when he pleases. “I’ll be right back.” Angela said as she ignored his call. Mark grabbed her arm out of worry as he didn’t know what she wanted to do next after hearing such dis-heartening news. “Where are you going?” He asked, out of curiosity. “Don’t worry. I’m not off to do something weird or bad. Just let me go.” She said, with determination, and withdrew her hand from his grip, forcefully. Mrs. Adam calmed Mark down when he wanted to follow Angela, and he looked at his grandmother like he meant to say “Are you just watching her leave?” “Don’t worry. Angela is not someone to do something irrational. She might have a plan in mind.” She convinced him, and sat down on the sofa. Mark reluctantly backed down, and resumed his activity on his phone, half-heartedly. Angela drove off to George’s house in anger, and she managed to cool her temper off a bit while driving so she doesn’t get herself involved in an accident, but as soon as she got to George’s mansion, her temper increased. She rang the doorbell consecutively, and arrogantly with the thought that George would feel her rage just from her actions. A maid opened the door, and Angela dashed in angrily. “Where’s George? Where’s he!” She yelled out in anger. The maid wondered what was going on, but it wasn’t her business to find out so she left the scene, knowing that her boss would certainly have heard and could be coming down any moment from now. George, recognizing her voice came down the stairs, wondering what had gone wrong to make her shout at the top of her voice, and to that extent. “Yes, you old troll.” Angela voiced out angrily. George was taken aback to hear such words from Angela, and he couldn’t just take this even when he didn’t know what happened. “What the hell is going on, Angela? What gives you the audacity to barge into my home, and call me names! Have you lost your mind?” George scolded her, looking really angry. Angela was not moved by his anger as she saw him as a powerless man, and no longer as the Governor she used to see him as. “You are shameless, and that’s why I have come here to lash words on you. Just because you gave me a list of wealthy people to patronize me doesn’t mean you should take them back in a silly way.” Angela said sharply, widening her eyes to express how much he disgusted her at that moment. George scoffed, and sniffled, and then rubbed his chin with both his index finger and thumb as if he was pondering hard on the matter. “You don’t have anything to say on it, because you’re the one behind it, and I’m smart enough to know that.” “It’s a pity you’re just showing how much of a fool you are, Angela. I’m not behind this, and I can never stoop so low to take my people back in that manner. I would rather do it directly.” Angela scoffed, and rolled her eyes, not believing a word which George uttered, then he got angry, and slammed her to the wall by pinning her neck to the wall. “Look into my eyes, Angela. Even if I’m not the governor, you should be wise enough to know that I still have power, either through old connections’ sake or sort. Do not overstep your boundaries, or I’ll make you regret it.” He threatened, and pushed her back against the wall again. Angela whose pride had been hurt, and a bit fear put in her, picked up her purse which fell, and walked out of his house. Charles on the other hand who was still in his house, got a call from the party’s president. “We haven’t had a proper meeting since the time you became a Governor, and we still need to discuss about your plan to resign.” He reminded Charles, and Charles sighed. “I apologize. I think we should have the meeting now. I’ll be there in about an hour.” Charles assured him. “That’s much better.” As Charles hung up, he prepared himself for the meeting, and went without Vera. When he got to the meeting, everyone greeted, and congratulated him again. He also exchanged pleasantries with his assistant who also won the election. “I’m so sorry I’ve not been able to have this meeting long before now, but I’m thankful we’re having the meeting right now.” Everyone smiled, and nodded their head.“Alright, getting to business, I’ll be preparing my resignation letter as I said before, but we need to put Daniels in a good light, first.” Charles said, and everyone nodded in agreement to his suggestion. The meeting was a successful one as everyone agreed to all he said, and when he was done, night fell so fast. So much for being a governor. Although, he had not resumed his duties yet, his schedule was full, and tiring. While driving back, his thoughts drifted to Rosaline, and he decided to check up on her house, if he could watch her from a distance, in case she came out. So, he drove off to her neighborhood, and found her on her front porch, with a woman who possibly could be her landlady. “You are taking too long in providing your rent fee which has been long overdue. I’m beginning to get tired of your excuses. It’s wearing me out, Rosaline.” The landlady complained harshly. “I apologize. Please give me more time.” Rosaline pleaded, with teary eyes. “Look! That’s enough, okay! That’s enough! If you do not provide me the pay this weekend, you’re moving out!” The landlady threatened, and walked out on her. Rosaline fell to the ground on her knees, looking miserable. Charles felt pity, and followed the landlady. He stopped her before she got into her house. “And what can I do for you, young man?” She questioned. She didn’t recognize him. Well, not everyone knew who their governor was, and that was fine with Charles. “I overheard you speaking to Rosaline, concerning her rent fee. I’ll like to cover the fee for her.” Charles offered as he brought out his phone. The landlady’s face brightened up, and she delightfully gave Charles her details. After paying up, Charles went back int his car, and placed his head on the steering wheel. “I really do not want to keep getting involved with her, but somehow, I’m finding it hard to resist getting closer to her.” He thought to himself as he bit his lower lip.
