Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 59

Night had fallen, and Charles was at home, feeling relaxed on his bed, but was lost in thoughts on what had happened earlier, which was his meeting with Rosaline. He just couldn’t understand why she just looked so much like his mother, that he could be fooled easily if they told him she was his mother, or if Rosaline herself acted like she was his mother who didn’t die. He sat up, and took a sip from his glass of wine, and then sighed. “What do I do with this change?” He thought to himself as he placed his index finger on his philtrum, and his thumb on his chin. Then a thought popped up in his mind, and he picked up his phone to call James. James’ number rang for about almost 30 seconds before he picked up. “Good evening, boss.” James greeted delightfully. “Evening. I want you to make a research on someone for me.” Charles informed, and gave James all the information he would need to get mor information. “Alright, boss. I’ll do just that. By the way, I got some information about Angela.” James uttered over the phone. “Oh, I’m all ears.” Charles urged James to speak up. “Angela acquired a building a week ago, and started up a salon business. The mind-blowing thing about it is that people seem to be patronizing her a lot.” James informed him. “Which means the governor could have connected her to a lot of people before they lost in the election.” Charles assumed as he rubbed his chin with both his index finger, and thumb. “It looks like it.” “Alright, thanks.” Charles hung up, and smirked. He was ready to destroy that business as well as he was sure she took it like an egg, and would do anything to keep it thriving. Well, now that Charles had his eyes on it, he was going to create a desert for the business to ensure it doesn’t grow. The next day, he got to work, and hired someone who was referred by James. He instructed the person to spread ill news about Angela’s salon, just so people would not be convinced to try her salon again. And the hired man was so good at his job that in a few hours, Angela began to notice that there was something wrong with her salon, today.Angela sat in her salon, with her workers, with no job to do. She had come in to check like she does on a daily basis, but was surprised that she didn’t meet any customer in the salon which was quite unusual. “Are you sure you didn’t offend anyone? Because I really do not understand this.” Angela scolded her workers in anger. “Ma’am, we were kind to all who came here for a hair do. But today, we haven’t seen any customer at all, and it’s quite baffling for us too.” The head worker defended, on everyone’s behalf. Angela bit her lower lip in frustration, then picked up her bag, and stormed out of the salon, heading home. As soon as she got home, she slammed her bag on the chair, and screamed. Her action startled Mark who was on his phone, doing a few things. He looked up at her, and could tell she had just had a bad day. “So, how bad is the situation?” Mark asked, concentrating back on what he was doing. “Really bad that I just want to stop thinking about it. If only time could take us forward to a year’s time or so.” Angela said, and sat down abruptly. She ruffled her hair, and exhaled sharply, looking like she was doomed. “Are you ready to speak now?” Mark asked, still on his phone. “All of a sudden, situations in my salon just got worse. No single customer came in today, and that’s weird, and calls for a deep thought.” Angela poured out her feelings. “Are you sure any of your workers didn’t offend a person?” “They didn’t. They are the best workers I’ve ever seen so far, so I believe them when they say they didn’t offend anyone.” “Hmmm.” “What’s going on here?” Mrs. Adam questioned as she walked down the stairs, slowly. She had not been happy since the moment Charles took her tech company from her, and was not in the mood to settle any affairs or sort. She didn’t show how sad she was about it when she lost it, but when George lost the election, it hit her hard that she knew that she had lost her building totally. There was no way Charles would give them back their company, not after all the things they had planned against him, which he knew about, so all she could do was to wallow in her sadness, and wish none of these happened.“It’s nothing grandma.” Angela mumbled, and looked down at the floor. “You shouldn’t say that. Even if I haven’t been active for a while, it doesn’t mean I do not want to know what’s going on in my grandchildren’s lives.” Mrs. Adam said as she got closer to both Mark and Angela. “Not like you can do something about it, anyways.” Angela muttered under her breath. “what did you say?” Fortunately, Mrs. Adam didn’t make out what she had said, if not, it would have been a total disaster that would make Angela’s day even worser. “Nothing. It’s just about my salon which I purchased last week, and was getting mad sales from it. Now, customers don’t even want to get close to it, and I don’t know why.” “Jeez! Shit! Someone was spreading shitty things about your salon, and that’s why no customer came over.” Mark voiced out with his eyes widened as he looked at the news feed. Angela brought out her phone quickly, and saw the news as well. The person who spread it was anonymous, so there was no way she could get who it was. It also meant she had not built any trust with her customers for them to believe such bullshit. “Who the hell, dared to!” Angela yelled in frustration, then her phone rang out, and she glanced at it. It was George, calling her. “Or could it be this good for nothing who did this?”
