Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 54

The sound of the birds chirping woke Charles up from his sleep, and the warm sun rays that shone on his skin made him feel good. Birds rarely came to perch on the tree beside his room, so to Charles, it felt like a good day. He stretched, and yawned, then stood up from the bed. He was ready for today’s agenda as he had rested enough, yesterday. Charles walked into the bathroom to have his bath, and after that, he dressed up. After he was done dressing up, he strode down the stairs to meet James who stood in the sitting room with an I pad in his hand. Charles had decided to go with James this time as he wanted to switch between, he and Vera on occasions like this. “Good morning.” James greeted with a slight smile. It was obvious that he was also ready for the day, and that he supported Charles in everything he planned to do. “Morning. Alright, let’s go.” Charles said as he walked over to the door. As they got outside, he was pleased to meet the men who stood in front of two dark cars behind him. “I already arranged them for the work. They are good to go.” James reported, formally. “Well done.” Charles acknowledged him as he nodded his head. They got into the car, and the driver drove them off to G Cement. When Charles got to the entrance, he adjusted his suit, and looked upright at the name of the cement industry. It was George’s cement industry. Charles and James walked in, and the workers welcomed them. Obviously, they wouldn’t question him harshly on why he appeared there as he was the Governor. “Where is the manager here? I’ll like to speak with him.” Charles requested, with a straight face. In a few minutes, the manager came down to see Charles, and greeted him respectfully. “Governor, what brings you to our industry?” The manager asked politely. “I am here to inspect personally on how this industry carry out their work. I have heard some complaints, and I’m here to confirm them.” Charles responded and slid his right hand into his pocket. Before he became who, he was, he had once heard some ugly comments about G Cement, so now, he was going to use that against them. He knew there was no way George would have changed his ways, and operated in a different order, so he was confident about his search.“A…alright sir.” The manager stuttered as he made way for Charles to go in to witness how they did things. The manager was not okay with this, because he knew the clash between their boss and Charles, and there might be a possibility that this inspection wasn’t going to go well. “I’ll be with you shortly, Sir.” The manager said, to excuse himself. “No. You have to stick with us. That’s your job.” Charles instructed him, feeling the manager could be up to something. The manager cleared his throat, and an expression of nervousness came on his face. Charles overlooked that, and continued to inspect until he got to the section where they were mixing the cement. The workers in that section looked surprised to see Charles as they were not informed that he was in the building. Unfortunately for them, Charles had caught on that they weren’t mixing for the purpose of the cement to come out strong. And there was his strike. “Aren’t you aware that not mixing the cement well enough to be strong is a big risk? And lives would have been lost, and many injured before it is noticed by the public.” Charles reprimanded them coldly. “Please forgive us, Governor. We were only trying to cover a loss.” The manager pleaded earnestly. “At the detriment of others’ lives? Just because yours and your family’s lives aren’t involved?” Charles raised his voice, angrily, then he turned to the men which James got for him. “Chase every worker out of here, and lock down this place.” He ordered, and walked out of the industry, ignoring their pleas. He had made a video, starting from the time he walked in, so that there could be visible evidence in case of any issue that could come up, needing him to back up his actions. Charles, James and half of the men they brought with them, drove off to George’s second company which was a tech company. As soon as the got there, the workers greeted them. And just as Charles did at the cement industry, he called the attention of the manger. He assumed they had not gotten news from anyone yet regarding whatever malpractice they could be doing. “Take me to the work area. I need to inspect how you create these robots, and commend where I need to.”The manager agreed, and took Charles to the section, and Charles closely looked at the tools they used. They were all good and durable materials, but Charles was not convinced that they didn’t have something dark they were into. “Hand over the record book.” Charles demanded. And then, there was what he was expecting. The manager fidgeted, and looked anxious. “Sir…” “Do not obstruct what I am here for, or you only will go down.” Charles threatened with coldness. The manager, struck with fear, immediately led them to where they kept the record books. Charles and James went through the record books from a few years back until the present time, and that was where Charles found their malpractice. They had purchased good materials, but it was a second hand which looked so much like the original, and they had planned to build the robots in a way that it would only work for three months, and customers would come running to get another one just for them to make money. Certainly, the only way they could have gotten out of complaints arena was they gave excuse to the purchasers which was they weren’t handling it well. “Chase everyone out, and lock this place down.” Charles ordered with an arched brow. “What the hell is happening!” George yelled as he dashed in, walking towards Charles and his people, angrily.
