Revenge of the Rejected
The next day, Charles prepared to go for his mother’s burial place and when he was done putting on his suit, he sat on the bed, and exhaled. He knew if he went there, feelings of rage could double up, and that could make him act really merciless. At the same time, he couldn’t keep running from visiting his mother at the burial ground. He wanted to change the mood he always felt whenever he was going to visit his mother. Feeling sad, and rage filled, he wanted to take that off the shelf today. “Phew! Charles, you can do this.” He said to himself and exhaled, then stood up. He walked out of the room, and strode down the stairs until he got to the sitting room where Vera was waiting for him. He appreciated Vera for her constant support, and reminder of the right thing he was to do. “To start the day on a good note, I just sent you a million dollars.” Charles said as he walked out of the house. Vera followed him, and thanked him sincerely for his kindness to her. Then she got into the car with him. They drove off to the burial ground, and while Charles was in the car, he repeatedly talked to himself not to feel so downcast. Soon, they got the cemetery, and Vera stayed by the car while he went deeper, and located his mother’s grave. As he located it, he walked towards the grave with a heavy heart. He couldn’t help it. Memories of how they both went through a lot, flooded his mind, and he broke down in his heart. His legs gave way to the ground as they wobbled and made him sit beside her grave. “Mother, I’m here again. Here to stay with you on the saddest day ever.” Charles sniffed, and placed the bouquet of flowers in his hand, on her grave. Charles tried to compose himself so as not to get too sad, and he only stared at the grave. “If you were here right now, I would have taken you to many places, filled your account with trillions of dollars. I would have made those who made you feel miserable, bow before you and plead for your mercy.” Charles paused, and dropped a dollar on her grave. “It’s a pity that you can’t even receive a dollar from me now, not to talk of millions of dollars.” Charles said, under his breath. Then a strong determination came over him. It was also filled with anger. “I am going to ensure that I please you wherever you are in heaven. I will not rest until I crush those who hurt us back then. In fact, those who abuse power, and cross my lane won’t be out of this revenge list, mother. Just watch as I make you proud.” Charles inclined in his heart, then he stood up. Usually, he would have cried hard and felt very bitter like he always does whenever he gets to her grave, but this time, that feeling didn’t linger for long. It was replaced by a stronger determination. After he was done making his vow, he walked back to his car. “Alright, drive us back home.” He instructed the driver, and leaned back to the car seat to have some rest. The ride back home seemed peaceful and all Charles just wanted to do when he gets home was to sleep. At least, his mother’s death anniversary gave him the opportunity to rest, because tomorrow, he was going to bounce back and hard. Soon, they got home and to Charles’ and Vera’s surprise, Angela was in the sitting room, standing and looking around like she was patiently waiting for Charles to get back home. Vera excused them by leaving for her home, and Charles could feel nothing but anger. “What the hell are you doing here, Angela?” Charles questioned as he faced her. Angela went down on her knees as soon as she sighted Charles, and she rubbed her palms together, with pleading eyes. “Angela, don’t you have any shame? The last time you came here, you were threatening me, and even acted proud as well.” “I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. I don’t know what came over me, but I have realized my mistakes now.” Angela pleaded, hoping that Charles would fall for the way she humbled herself. “Please just leave. I have nothing to say or do with you, Angela.” “Please don’t do this to me. Charles, I love you, to be honest. And now, I don’t mind if I become your side chick. Even if it’s Vera you now love, I don’t mind. I just want your love and care, back.” Angela said, moving closer to him, with teary eyes. Charles felt disgusted by her attitude and stomped his feet angrily. “Look Angela, you are only worsening the punishment I have prepared for you by doing this.” “Oh, my goodness! You have prepared a punishment for me? I…I know I deserve this, but kindly look past it just this once.” Angela insisted, and continued pleading. “By now, you should know how serious I am with the words I say, and the promises I make. You should know that your pleas are nothing on me, so stop worsening your situation more than you can bear, and leave!” Charles said sharply, and walked out on her. He got to his bedroom, and pulled of his suit, and put on something more comfortable. To show that Angela really didn’t care about him all this while, she didn’t know today was a special day for him, and she didn’t even know where to find him other than his home. He blamed himself for getting entangled with someone like her, but it wasn’t really his fault anyways. He had the perfect plan for her, a plan that would hurt her deeply, and make her fear not to pull up any stunt on him again. He picked up his phone, and dialed James’ contact, and James picked up after a few seconds. “Hello, boss.” “I need you dig up a few things on Angela.” He was ready to give her what she deserved.
