Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 51

The next day, Charles woke up, feeling happy and in a good mood. He was glad about his achievements, and resilience towards it. A few years ago, he would have never believed if they told him that such a miracle was coming to him. Even as the election was beginning to seem tough, he still won, because of his good heart and skills. He stood up, had his bath while humming a happy song, and got dressed. Charles walked down his stairs like a man of pride and success like he truly was, and his joy couldn’t be measured. Vera who was staring at him from where she was, could feel the happy aura around him. She was also glad that their efforts paid out, and everything good was working out for them. “Surely, the good always win.” Vera voiced out as Charles got closer to her. Charles smiled, and pulled a chair out in the dining, and sat down to a bountiful meal prepared by the maid which they retained after using her. Charles didn’t plan on having a maid before, but ever since he used her to deceive Mark on making him feel welcome and a part of Charles’ league, he found out that she was a good one, knew how to cook and clean, so he retained her. Vera also had her seat to join him in eating the bountiful meal. There Bacon, tomato, chedar casserole breakfast with eggs. It tasted quite unique to them as the maid was so skilled and passionate about cooking. “So, where are we going today?” Vera asked as she munched on her food. “Well, we’ll be going to Auto air Airline to get back the private jet I ought to get, and you know what next would come before that while at Auto Air.” Charles smiled and sipped his juice. Vera smiled in wonder at how Charles doesn’t forget or forgive his enemies, without teaching them a lesson. “I just hope you take it really slow, and don’t exhaust all your strength on teaching them lessons.” Vera advised, hoping that for once, he would let it go. She just felt that the Governor wasn’t really that much of an enemy as it was only pride and misuse of power that got him on Charles’ bad side. The people whom she felt were to be dealt with seriously were his family, and ex-wife’s family. But there was nothing else she could do than to adhere to his rules. After all, he employed her, and he is treating her well in all aspects. Soon, they were done having breakfast, and got into the car. The driver greeted both of them, and started the car, then drove off to Auto Air.Charles was excited for the day, and could not wait to get there to act the way he wanted. “When are you going to see the staff, and their agency and department heads?” Vera asked, reminding him that he had so much on deck now that he was a Governor. “Oh, yeah. I’ll meet with them this week. But I just need to clear up a few things first before it gets cold.” Charles replied as he leaned back to his car seat. “Alright then.” Soon, they got to Auto Air Airline and as soon as they walked in, Charles and Vera stood in line, but the receptionist who disrespected them the other time, recognized them, and left her position to meet them. “Good day, Governor. I see you’re here to purchase a private jet. I also apologize for my rudeness the other time. Please find it in your heart to forgive me. By the way, please come forward so we can attend to you first.” She uttered respectfully. Vera chuckled, and exhaled. It wasn’t her place to speak because she knew Charles would have something to say, so she only looked away. “Well, I’ll like to stand in line. I have time on my hands for now, and as you can see, I’m not like some governor who cheats the people because of his so-called position.” Charles replied, and looked away as well. The attendant was scared with the way he spoke, especially because he didn’t acknowledge her apology. But she still felt safe as he didn’t say anything that harsh and only requested that he waits for his turn. “Why do I feel like you have something in store for her?” Vera spoke as the receptionist went back to her seat. “Well, you just watch and see.” Charles replied as he slid his hands into his pockets. They weren’t that far from the reception while standing in line, so in about half an hour, they got to the spot they had been waiting for. “Good morning, Governor.” The receptionists greeted with a smile on their faces. “Good morning. I hope you’re all having a nice day.” Charles asked, like a gentle man. “Yes.” They responded in unison. “Alright. You, get me your manager.” Charles asked the lady who disrespected him directly that day. Fear struck her heart, and she could hardly respond, but found her voice after a few seconds.“S…sir, is there a problem?” she asked, hoping he wasn’t confirming her fear. “I just requested that I see your manager. Does that mean there is a problem? Alright, you want to know what’s going on, just call me your manager first.” Charles said, his anger revisiting him. The receptionist immediately called for their manager, and he rushed down to see Charles. “Good day, Governor. How may I help you?” He asked politely, and respectfully. “Well, i came to report an issue to you, which might have been short of your knowledge when it happened.” Charles proceeded. “Oh! I’m all ears.” The manager said, keenly. “This lady right here disgraced me three months ago, all because I was just a random business man who came to buy a private jet. I believe everyone here has the right to be treated specially, as long as you’re here to purchase something.” As Charles was speaking, other business men were nodding their heads in agreement, and were glad he was their Governor. “I agree with you, sir. And in fact, these are the things we spoke to them before they were hired.” The manager defended. “Well, this lady in particular here was bold enough to disgrace me totally even when it got to my turn. So, I need you to fire her. She doesn’t deserve to be in a place like this.”
