Revenge of the Rejected
“Mr. Charles?” The officer called his attention again. Soon, Vera showed up, and James was right beside her. Charles was so glad that he could almost jump up, but he comported himself. “I have evidence, and my people will show you the evidence.” Charles replied as he leaned back in his chair. Mark stepped down from the podium, hoping it wasn’t something which the audience would believe. Vera climbed up to the podium, and played a recorder of both Angela and George’s chat, using the microphone. Angela glared at Mark who was now standing beside her. “Are you for real? So, those months you spent getting closer to him, you didn’t get rid of that one evidence?” Angela said, through her teeth. “I…I didn’t think he was going to be able to use this, because he spoke like he wasn’t going to use this evidence publicly.” Mark tried to defend himself. “Oh, goodness. Stop acting like you’re a child, Mark. What the hell!” Angela snapped, although in a low tone. “Let’s just hope things go our way.” “It has to. I still have one more trick up my sleeves.” Angela smirked, still feeling like she had everything under control. She recalled she still had a reporter who was going to keep pushing away all the evidences which Charles had against them until her own evidence against him trumps. She dialed his number, and then he picked up after his phone rang thrice. “Are you ready?” Angela asked as she pinned her hair which was at the left side of her face, to the back of her ear. “Yes, ma’am.” The reporter answered politely. “This isn’t what we expected on a day like this. Are you saying both our candidates are not reliable people?” The officer stood up, and addressed the audience and the testifiers. Both Charles and George were now on the hot seat. It was quite embarrassing for a scene such as this to play out in public on election day. But even when Charles recognized that, he couldn’t stand back and allow his opposition party to trample on him just like that. Soon, the reporter started spreading news against Angela, photos and recordings of their plans together against Charles. People were shocked to see it as the headline and this election was becoming a mess. Angela was already burning in anger, and couldn’t contain it that she screamed and people glanced at her, shaking their head in disdain. “I guess we both can’t match up to Charles, after all.” Mark said under his breath, but Angela heard him and stomped her feet. “We still have the public to cast in their votes, so let’s not give up now that there’s still hope.” Angela snapped at him in anger. “Decorum please.” The officer voiced out, and a few people in charge tried to retain order back. Soon, there was silence. “Now, we have all seen all that has been said about them, so it’s left for you all to vote for whoever you feel is suitable or is saying the truth.” The presiding officer announced. Charles was back home, and he was pacing around, feeling angry. Although, he knew that Mark was coming around just to put him into trouble, and not because he wanted to atone for any mistake, but he didn’t know that letting him in would still cause chaos for him. “You need to calm down. I believe we are going to win.” Vera tried to assure him. “If you ask me, I’m not so certain. The public were visibly angered, and shocked. And that means they believed every trash which Angela, and her people made up against me.” Charles voiced out, still feeling angered. “But…” “Look vera, you don’t have to make everything seem like it’s going to be okay, when you aren’t certain yourself. To be honest, if I wasn’t Charles, but some random man in the audience, listening to things that were framed up against Charles, I would believe it because it just sounded so real.” Charles snapped, and placed both his hands on his waist. He was nervous, and didn’t know how he was going to feel if George won. He was certain that George was going to take him down totally. The results were going to come out this evening, and the tension was everywhere. “I understand how you feel, but the good always conquer evil. You know what, just have a drink and try to relax if possible.” Vera suggested, with a look of concern on her face. Charles sighed, and sat down, then opened up a bottle of whiskey, and poured into a glass cup. He was hoping that things would go well, at least for him to hold his head up high, and not go through suffering and ridicule again. Soon, it was evening, and the tension increased. Vera and Charles patiently waited for the results to be announced. “Mr. George Washington has 4000 number of votes while Mr. Charles Lincoln is leading with a number of 10000 votes.” Charles and Vera stood up and shouted in joy. “Oh, my goodness! We won! We won, Vera!” Charles shouted in joy as he walked around in a fast pace. He went online, and was seeing different posts on the reason why they had chosen their candidate. Charles scrolled up to see the reasons he was chosen, and they were all touching. “I voted this man because since he emerged, all I have noticed him doing has never been against the people. This is a man for the people.” A man expressed. “He has never shown any sign of being proud, and misusing his power on anyone, and that’s why I prefer him to the past governor.” A female wrote. “I almost ran into him with my car, and in that situation, it is justifiable if he presses charges against me, but he didn’t, and only advised me to always check my car before driving out. That’s the man we need to lead us as he would not jump into punishing us without understanding a fact.” Charles was so touched by all these, and after reading a few of them, he smirked. “Now, it’s time to show those brats who they are dealing with.”
