Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 245

The next day, Charles had had his bath, and was searching through his wardrobe for something simple to wear. Today was his mother's memorial and as usual, he doesn't do anything on that day. He decided to wear a dark suit as that's how it has always been. After dressing up, and ensuring he was leaving nothing behind, he walked out of his room, with his shoes making tapping sounds which echoed as he walked down the stairs leading to his living room. "Good morning sir." Martha greeted politely. "Good morning." He responded with his hands in his pocket. "Here are the flowers you ordered. They came in an hour ago." Martha informed as she handed the bouquet of flowers to him. Charles removed his hand from his pocket and received the flowers, then sniffed the scent in. "Smells nice." He spoke as he nodded his head in acknowledgement. "Alright then. Until when I get back home." Charles turned towards the door and then halted before he turned back to her. "You should also take the day off." He said to her. "But..." "No. You should take the day off. And that's final." Charles turned towards the door and then walked out. He had even told his driver to also take the day off. So, he drove by himself. While driving, he thought about how things have been for him for a while now and while things haven't seemed fun as when he had started his revenge, but he was glad that he still was at a height that was considered to be a successful point for most people. He also took his time to appreciate the beauty around as he drove until he got to the cemetery. “Good morning, Mr. Lincoln.” The security guard greeted. This was the security guard he sees, most times and Charles never ceased to tip him off as he felt he was doing his job well and even enduring all that comes with it.“Here. Have something for the wife and the kids as well.” Charles said as he handed over an envelope filled with money to him. “Thank you so much. I really do appreciate, sir.” He uttered, with gratitude. “You’re welcome.” Charles replied, then walked into the cemetery. He could already see his mother’s grave from where he was, and while he usually felt heavy whenever he sets his eyes on her grave, this time, he was neutral, and to him, that was still progress. At least, he doesn’t feel any pain. “But I wish you were here with me, though. I wish you could have seen the face of defeat on father’s face.” He said in a low tone as he sat before his mother’s tomb. He placed the flowers on the tomb and stared at it for a while, allowing silence to reign for a while. After spending a silent moment, he looked towards the sky and then back at the things around him. “It’s funny how you see the beauty of things when you’re less bombarded by different important things to work on.” Charles thought to himself. Then he brought out a bottle of wine and poured it into a glass of wine. I had celebration at every road I crossed successfully. Now, I’m going to have that celebration with you; a successful revenge. ~ James stayed back at home as Charles always managed to ensure that he also take the day off when he’s taking the day off for his mother’s memorial. Amelia wasn’t around as she also had some things to do, so he only sat in the living room, watching TV, but also keeping an eye on some business affairs online. While doing both at the same time, a text caught his attention and that was a text from the company. “Good day, sir. We have finally thought about something exclusive to produce, but there’s just one product we’re going to need- Vibranium.” James’ mouth hung open as he read the text. Vibranium was a rare element, but whoever got his or her hand on it was a lucky person. Fortunately, there was that lucky person which some business men knew about, Mr. Jayla. But the only problem about him was that he was so difficult to persuade. Never for once has it been recorded that he gave out a piece of vibranium to someone or even sold it out. It was more like an impossible task.James then texted the production manager. “Is there nothing else you can think of without the use of vibranium?” He texted, waiting patiently for a response. But when he couldn’t wait any longer, he put a call through. “Good day. I asked if there’s nothing else you can think of without the use of vibranium?” James questioned again. “Uhm… No, Mr. James. We’ve tried to think of every other thing, but none beats the fact that using vibranium would give us a huge hit.” The man responded. James sighed and tapped his feet, thinking about the information he just got. “Alright, we’ll get back to you on that. Meanwhile, I need you all to still try to think of other things because I’m certain you know that getting vibranium is more like an impossible task.” “Alright, sir.” James hung up and then rose to feet, thinking of how he could lay the information down to Charles. Charles who has always turned out to make seemingly impossible tasks, become possible didn’t seem to have a chance here. Mr. Jayla was just one hard nut to crack, but still, he had to relay the information to Charles. He then put a call through to Charles and the dial tone rang out loud while he paced around, becoming really impatient for Charles to answer the call. Suddenly, the call beeped. Charles had rejected the call. James had to call back again as he felt it was probably a mistake, or just so Charles could realize that what he was calling him for was really important. “The phone is switched off.” “I hope nothing is going wrong with him over there.” James muttered under his breath, worriedly.
