Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 227

Charles was ready to finish Longman off once and for all and ensure that he would never try such again with him or anyone else, if he ever survives from what he’s going to make him go through. He watched as Andrew did his thing until he remembered James and Vera. He then called James who answered his call immediately. “Hey James. Nothing happened, right?” Charles asked, trying to be certain that the trouble was over. “Nothing happened, boss. How did you go about it?” James asked, out of curiosity. “Well, I somehow got it solved, and then found out that it was Longman’s doing.” Charles replied as he rose to his feet to move around a little. “What! Long man was involved in this?” James exclaimed. “Yes. He is the master mind and I’m going to ensure that he pays for everything. Have you reached out to Amelia and Vera to be certain they’re fine?” Charles inquired, trying to be certain that things were fine, now that the bomb has been detonated. “Alright, I’ll do that now.” James responded, and then Charles hung up. “Is he fine?” Andrew asked from where he was. “Yes, he is. I’m sure the others are fine as well. I just need him to confirm the same way I confirmed with him.” Charles responded, and went back to seat down while Andrew continued with the thorough tracking. On the other hand, James put a call through to Amelia, and she told him she was fine, but when he tried calling Vera, her phone was ringing, but she wasn’t answering her phone. “I hope she’s okay.” He muttered under his breath, then sent her a text. He wasn’t that worried because he knew if the bomb had gone off somewhere, it would surely be on the news. Thankfully, Vera was okay, but she was spending time with Louis who was making her feel really happy, and loved. “You’re so funny.” Vera chuckled hard while playing with Louis’ hair. Louis was resting his head on her lap which made her feel more like a woman, and he kept staring into her eyes, just so she would feel the way he wanted her to feel. “So, what other work do you do?” Vera asked, inquisitively. She was ready to know everything about him, even if it was going to be today. She just wanted to feel closer to him, and like their relationship was heading somewhere. “Well, I’m also into tech. I don’t know if I have ever told you, but I love anything that has to do with tech. it’s cool and awesome.” Louis responded, now holding her hand, and interlocking their fingers. “Hmm… You’re right. It’s quite fun and satisfying to be a problem solver with the use of tech products.” Vera uttered, and smiled widely. “Exactly. This is one of the reasons I love you, because I noticed you’re into tech stuff. We’ll be able to rub minds sometimes, when needed. And I won’t feel like a bore when I begin to talk about tech products.” Vera giggled, and covered her face with her other hand to hide the fact that her cheeks were looking flushed. “You can’t hide how flustered you are, right now, Vera. I can see it.” Louis teased. “Well, you didn’t have to rub it in.” Vera chuckled, and covered her face the more. With Louis, she was like a gentle, innocent lady, and she seemed to love that part of her, rather than the uptight, serious woman she has always been. “So, do you also create ideas for the company you work at, or…” “I’m just Charles Lincoln’s secretary; nothing more than that.” Vera responded, and sat up properly. “That’s also cool. It means you know almost everything about him, if not all.” Louis uttered as he looked into her eyes seductively. “Hold on. Are you trying to get information from me by acting seductive?” Vera questioned as she raised her brows. “Oh, no, babe. Why would you think that? I’m just asking random questions.” Louis defended himself, and sat up as well. “I’m just kidding. Lame, right?” Vera said, with a slight smile. But Louis smiled, and gave her a kiss on her lips. “It doesn’t sound that lame to me, though. Don’t ever think anything about you is lame, okay?” Vera then nodded her head and he placed a hot kiss on her lips. While they were at it, Louis’ phone rang, interrupting them. Then he glanced at the phone, and withdrew from Vera. “Sorry babe. I have to take this call.” He said, and excused himself. Vera nodded, and watched as he picked up his phone, then went out of the room. Then she reached out her hand to take up her phone as well as she needed to know if she had gotten any text or calls from Charles or James. But the first thing she saw was 2 missed calls from James, and a text. She opened the text first, and it read: “I hope you’re fine. Just checking up on you again because of the explosion that happened at a grocery bazaar.” Vera then texted him back to let him know she’s fine because she didn’t want to get on a long call with him or make Louis think she was busy. She just wanted him to finish up what he started before he went ahead to answer his call. When she was done sending the text, she placed her phone on the bedside table, and let out a relieved sigh as she laid back on the headboard, waiting for Louis. At the living room, Louis sat on the sofa, on a call with the person who had interrupted his moment with Vera. “You called me. Is there anything important you need to share with me?” Louis asked, waiting to hear what he had to say. “Boss, I just wanted to ensure that you’re playing it safe. These people are really smart.” “You should know I’m way smarter. I’m going to let them know that they messed with the wrong person, months ago.” Louis said, with a serious expression on his face. “As for her, she is the dumbest woman I’ve ever met. Her outer appearance only deceives one. Well, let’s see how her dumbness can help me?”
