Revenge of the Rejected
“Finally got his whereabouts, and that of his wife, and kids.” Andrew chuckled, and folded his arms while he raised his chin in pride and satisfaction. Charles looked towards his side, and walked towards him. “So, he has wife and kids and acts so wicked? Or does he think he would never be conquered?” Charles spoke as he looked at the map on the system. “Well, some of them who have been in this game for quite some time feel they are kings and queens, and know how to maneuver their way every single time.” Andrew replied. “Well, it’s time I show them that not every day is Christmas, and Longman is going to be a perfect example. Thanks Andrew. I’ll take it from here.” Charles appreciated him, and turned to leave, “Hey, hold on. You should take this with you. He’s a cunning man, so you should know he could have tried something else, and you walking right into his trap would be bad.” Andrew said as he handed over the mother controller to him. “Thanks Andrew. I really appreciate it.” Charles said, and then hugged him. “Sure. Anything for you.” Andrew uttered, with a smile, and then Charles withdrew from Andrew and headed out of his home. As he got out of Andrew’s home, he brought out his phone, and then called James. “Hey boss.” “Hey. I need you to order a few men to get Longman’s wife and kids. I have texted their location to you.” Charles notified. “Uhm… Noted, boss. But then, I’m hoping you’re not trying to play it the way he plays his game too.” James asked, trying to be certain that Charles wasn’t going to endanger a person’s life all because he wanted to get back at an enemy. “I know just what I’m going to do. I have to ensure that he doesn’t try what he did with me, anymore. Just do what I asked you to do, and then you meet me at the next location I send.” Charles said, and then hung up. He didn’t want to feel like James was losing trust in him; although, he knew James trusted him, but he himself didn’t want to hear words like that from James. He just wanted to reject anything that would make him think twice on what he planned to do. “At times, one has to be wicked to defeat the wicked.” He thought to himself, and got into his car.But before he started the car, he dialed Vera’s number. The dial tone rang for a while before the call connected, then he spoke. “Hey Vera. You’ve been unreachable for a while. I hope all is well?” Charles asked. “Yeah… Yeah. I’m okay.” “Alright, you shouldn’t stay too far from your phone. We are at a time when we need to be able to get to each other anytime we need to.” “Alright, noted.” “Alright. So, I need you to meet me at the location which I’ll send to you, soon.” “Is there anything wrong?” “Nothing really. It’s just time for Longman to go down.” “Oh, I see. I’ll be right there.” Vera replied, and then Charles hung up. “Who’s that?” Louis asked, looking really curious. “Uhm… That’s my boss.” “Your boss? So, you mean you’re back to work now?” “Yeah, I am.” “Can’t you just… you know like…maybe take a break or something? You’re always working and I’m certain you’ve never taken a break.” Louis urged, looking desperate to have her by his side. Vera blushed, and smacked her lips. “Well, I wish I could do that. But I can’t. Not even when he called me for something important. If it were to be a time when there’s not much work to do, that can still be considerable. But not now.” Vera said as she dragged her body down to the edge of the bed. “Then what is it exactly that makes it important for you to get to work?” Louis asked, inquisitively. “That’s confidential, Louis. I’ve got to go.” She said, then rose to her feet, and walked up to the mirror, and trying to re-style her hair. Louis scoffed, and then walked up to her, then held her waist. “We’re not meant to hide anything from each other, you know.” “I’m not hiding anything from you, Louis. This is just work, and it’s confidential.”“But nothing should be confidential between us. I’m… I’m your boyfriend, and I love you to an extent that I want to get married to you. You shouldn’t…” “Why are you so bent on knowing what I have told you to be confidential? If this is how this relationship work; telling me what to do and what not to, I’m not sure I’m in for it. I got into a relationship, and not kindergarten.” Vera snapped at him, and picked up her bag, then walked out of his room. Louis followed after her as he wasn’t comfortable with the way she reacted. Although, he had seen her for a fool, but seeing her attitude made him feel he hasn’t gotten to heart yet. “Look. I’m sorry Vera. I…I guess I was taking things too far. I’m sorry. Just overlook that.” Vera sighed as she stopped right at the exit door. “Well, I understand how you really feel about desiring to know anything about me, and what I do, but you took it really far. Moreover, we haven’t gone deep in the relationship. To be honest, you were giving me toxic vibes.” Vera said, shaking her head slowly in disapproval. ‘I’m sorry. I shouldn’t do that at all. Just overlook it this once.” Louis pleaded, and held her hand softly, looking into her eyes.” “Hmm. Alright, but I have to go right now. Talk to you later.” She said, then pulled down the door knob, and walked out of his house. Louis kicked the stool right before him in anger, and shouted in pain as it hurt his right big toe. “I won’t accept defeat. Don’t worry, it won’t be long before I dunk your head into the sea of love.” Louis muttered under his breath, breathing heavily in anger.
