Revenge of the Rejected
It felt as if something huge was dropped on Charles' heart and he somehow found it difficult to breathe. He quickly clicked on the news headline and then his fast beating heart turned into a normal paced one as he realized the situation wasn't what he thought it was. The explosion was actually from a kitchen near the bazaar and it wasn't an explosion that took lives, neither was it one that was very serious. “Oh, my goodness. The media really need to find a way to relay their news in a better way; in a way that won't make someone have a heart attack.” Charles voiced out as he breathed out to express how relieved he was. “What was that?” .”There was an explosion around a grocery bazaar. Not that serious.” Charles responded, still acting relieved. “Oh, i see. Alright then. I need you to sit and relax. I'll see what I can do and how fast I can be. If the arsonist contacts you, play safe with them, so they don't feel pushed to press the button.” Andrew advised. “Alright, noted. I will.” Charles responded, and pursed his lips, hoping that things were going to work out in his favor. Charles rose to his feet and began to look around, just so he could get his mind off the terrifying situation. It even came to his mind that what if this place could also be placed around with bombs. He wouldnt be able to take it because all of Andrew's hard work would be destroyed. And Andrew could feel really discouraged to help him, especially that he had been running from those who are more like enemies. Well, that's if he lived to hate him at least. Then Charles’ phone vibrated and he became really terrified to check his message. “Let's do this. We can't let fear hold us down.” He said to himself as he shut his eyes tight. He knew that one way or the other, he still had to open the text to know what the arsonist was planning and so as not to miss an update that could take lives. He opened his eyes and relief washed through him just the way the beach water washes anything off the sand. The text was from James, so he opened it. But he found out that James’ text was more like opening Pandora's box and finding out the saddening things that are in there. “I just got a threatening text from an unknown sender, saying wherever I walk to, I'm going to still be involved in an explosion that's going to happen anytime soon.” Charles' face went dry and his thoughts escaped his mind for a while that he could not think of what next to do or say. He looked towards the direction in which Andrew left and then shook his head as he connected the heel of his palm to his face. “This is the part where I have to act on my own.” He uttered and then decided to text James back. “Just stay calm wherever you are. Nothing is going to happen to you. I'm currently on it and I assure you things would be fine. Contact Vera and Amelia to be sure they're fine.” Charles tapped his feet impatiently and let out a frustrated sigh as he slid his phone back into his pocket. He brought it out back again so as not to miss anything in case he wouldn't hear it if his phone vibrated while in his pocket. He rose to his feet and began to pace around restlessly, hoping and praying for Andrew to be done and for his people to be safe. James texted back, informing him that both Vera and Amelia were safe and they didn't get any text. “Why is it James they keep targeting? If they know James, then they certainly know Vera, but Vera has not been threatened with an explosion before, so what the hell is going on?” Charles thought deeply to himself. The way he thought deeply, if it were possible, his head was going to become hot and could even turn into a cake. “I'm done… I'm done.” Andrew voiced out as he walked in. Charles quickly moved towards him, looking really expectant of what he had to say. “Charles, can you try to think of who this nemesis is? It sounds to me like it's someone you have come across before and you probably won him or her.” Andrew uttered, trying to juggle Charles’ memory. “Hmmm..” “It is so certain that he's the same person who sent his men to inject you with that dangerous serum. And if you do not find out who it is, this may never end and it could get to a point where he is the one who is going to win.” Andrew said, looking really concerned.Charles sighed deeply and his eyes drifted to the floor as he took a few steps forward. “Or could it be Longman?” He muttered out as he raised his brow up. “Longman? Who is Longman?” Andrew asked, out of curiosity. “He's one of our nemesis. He wanted a partnership with me and to achieve that, he planted a bomb in James' shoulders. But fortunately for us, the bomb was detonated and I guess it was the upgraded system that made that happen.” Charles uttered, then raised his head up to look into Andrew's eyes. “So, he must have been pained that you got away with it because I can see he's not in your books of partnership.” “Yes. And I'm not interested in becoming partners with any other company on my newly founded company.” Charles replied, looking really serious. “But are you certain he's the one?” Andrew asked again for Charles to be sure of it. “Yes I am. He is the one. He's the one who knows how to use bombs, I guess.” Charles responded with an hundred percent surety. “Then let's get to work. Let's show him who's boss!”
