Revenge of the Rejected
Her eyelids fluttered to be certain that she saw the right thing, but when she opened her eyes to look at him again, his facial expression had turned back to normal. “Is anything wrong? Why are you staring at me like that?” Louis asked, with a smile on his face. “Uhm… Nothing.” Vera replied as she shook her head and then turned her head to the other side of the car. Louis then chuckled, and bit his lower lip. “I guess since you accepted me to be in your life, you have come to accept your feelings and now, they’re taking over in a rush. You were probably wondering how you came to love me so fast. Well, I’ll tell you.” Vera turned to look at him, interested in what he had to say next. “Well, it’s because it’s fate. Fate brought us together, Vera, and it made both of us fall in love.” He spoke, and then leaned over to kiss her on her forehead. “Come on, Louis.” She chuckled. “Eyes on the road.” She said to him, and let out a breath which was relieving her of all the tension she got while he stared at her, and gave her a kiss on her forehead. Soon, they got to his apartment, and Vera was stunned to see that he was living in a modest apartment. Although, she could tell he was wealthy, but she didn’t know his home could look so humble. It was extravagant in a humble way. Louis opened the door, and Vera walked in, acting so composed and gentle because she was somewhere not familiar with her. Her eyes widened in surprise and awe as she looked around his living room. He had several famous art works hung around his walls, a piano, and a beautiful wine cellar. So many artistic and wonderful things decorated his living room, but they all spelt humility. “Have a seat, babe.” Louis urged her. Vera felt butterflies in her stomach at the word, “babe.” She had never been in a relationship before and had never been called in a way that makes her feel attached to a personal relationship. Then Louis served her wine, and sat very close to her as well. “Look Vera. I’m so happy you chose to be with me, and I promise you, I will never make you cry.” He assured her as he held her hand with love.Vera blushed, and then smiled. “Well, I’ll hold you to that.” She uttered, and Louis hugged her. Hours of the night passed by with Louis and Vera conversing a lot that made both of them laugh and blush until Vera became sleepy, and Louis led her to another room as he didn’t want to seem too fast in their relationship. And he wanted to do things only when Vera was ready. “Goodnight pretty.” “Goodnight.” Vera responded in a low tone as she felt drowsy. Then Louis walked out of the room with a smirk on his face. “So easy.” He uttered in a low tone, and smirked again. The next day, Charles was in the bathroom washing up in a good mood as he was getting prepared for work. He hummed to his favorite song, and even made some dancing moves until he sang out. When he was done having his bath, he danced out of the bathroom and caught the light flash of his phone. Then he walked over to his bed, and reached out his hand to take his phone. He noticed that he had gotten a text from a strange number, so he decided to check it, although, nowadays he has been so skeptical about checking out strange numbers because he knew most of them were only about threatening messages. But he still had to check them in case anyone’s life was on the line, and with what he knows, his enemies are gruesome, not caring about the life they take. All they want is to get Charles on his knees, and make him wag his tail like a dog. Charles opened the text, and his eyes widened in shock as he saw what was written. “WE HAVE PLANTED A LITTLE BOMB SOMEWHERE AROUND SOMETHING YOU OWN AND A LOT OF LIVES ARE AT THE EXPENSE OF THIS. THIS BOMB IS GOING TO EXPLODE, AND THEN I’LL THINK OF MAKING AN AGREEMENT WITH YOU. IF YOU STILL DO NOT COMPLY, THEN YOU’LL SEE WORSE. HAVE A NICE DAY, MR. CHARLES LINCOLN.” Charles was shocked, and didn’t know how to react to this, but he knew that any moment from now, the bomb could blow up.He paced around, thinking of what to do, and at once, Andrew came to his mind. He texted Andrew quickly to inform him of his coming there, and then quickly dressed up before heading out to Andrew’s home. Although, he knew it could take him a while before he gets there, coupled up with the traffic congestion if he wasn’t that lucky, but he saw Andrew as his only hope, and had to risk it. Charles finally got to Andrew’s home, although faster than expected, and he was quite grateful to the heavens for that. “Welcome. So, what’s the matter?” Andrew asked as he welcomed Charles in. Charles then showed Andrew the text, and Andrew sort of looked really taken aback. “Whoa! This is crazy. But thankfully, we have a solution to this.” “Alright, what is it?” Charles asked, impatiently. “Well, I’m sure you might have found out that the system upgrade you once had, had the ability to destroy other technologies, especially those that are way below it.” “Oh, my goodness. It was the system that did that?” “Yes. So, now that it isn’t in you, there’s another way around it. I just need to create another device that would help us fulfill this task.” “Hold on. Doesn’t it take days to make a technological product, especially one like this which could take weeks?” “No. It is going to be done in less than two hours if I focus.” Before Charles could say another word, a notification popped up.
