Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 19

Charles and Vera walked out of Celio fashion house, feeling overwhelmed with joy. Charles was incredibly happy because he put Madame Visa in her place. Vera on the other hand appreciated her job as his personal assistant. “Charles, that was intense,” she said beaming with smiles. “So what’s your next plan? Where are we heading to next?” “Ummmm,” Charles considered his next plan immediately. Having bought a house and car, he needed a company of his own to secure a name in the city. “I need to secure a deal with the manager of Golden State Hotel.” “What kind of deal? Are you talking about partnership?” “No. I want to buy Golden State Hotel.” Initially, Vera was shocked because she didn’t think he would be able to afford the cost of buying an entire hotel. But she didn’t want to doubt him like others. After all, he had accomplished everything he wanted to do previously. “Are you sure you can foot the cost?” She asked. “After all, what if the manager doesn’t want to sell it to you? What would you do then?” Charles smiled, having fully planned what he was going to do. “Don’t worry about it. I have a way of getting the things I want.” They booked a cab to Golden State Hotel after their little conversation and arrived shortly. Unknown to Charles, the CEO of the hotel has just arrived for some inspection. As he and Vera walked in, the receptionist welcomed them politely. “Hello, welcome to Golden State Hotel , would you like to book any of our services?” “I’ll like to see the manager.” Charles answered. “Please what’s your name and state your intentions.” “I have a business deal to discuss with him.” After typing in his name in the computer and talking to the manager, the receptionist showed him the way to the manager’s office. Vera was not allowed to go in with Charles because it was a private business discussion. “Hello, Mr. Charles,” the manager, Mr. John, said immediately he walked in. “Please sit.” “Thank you.” “The receptionist informed you that you’re here to see me for a business deal. I don’t know you neither was I expecting you but I’m eager to learn about this business deal.” Charles nodded and went straight to the point. “I’ll like to buy this hotel and become the CEO.” At first, the manager paused with shock, unable to understand what Charles said initially. Then he burst into laughter. “What did you say? You want to do what?” “I want to buy this hotel.” Charles repeated. The manager shook his head. “I don’t think you understand the meaning of what you’re saying. This is a high capital generating hotel and you think you can just buy like a car?” “Everything and everyone has a price. You just have to name it and I promise I can afford it.” “The hotel is currently not on sale. It’s a ridiculous idea to walk in here to discuss selling a hotel I manage to you. Do you know how much it cost to erect such a magnificent building? You wouldn’t be able to afford quarter the price if it was up for sale.” Charles immediately accessed his system black card points. The screen appeared before his eyes, listing his points and skills he could buy with them. [Gold: Mind reading skill. Silver: Persuasion skill. Bronze: Karate skill. All lasts for 3 hours.] Using his black card points, he purchased the mind reading and persuasion skills. Immediately, the manager’s thoughts were opened to him like a book. Charles immediately knew that the manager wanted to consider his deal because the current CEO was not running the hotel properly but couldn’t sell the hotel without approval from the CEO. “Are you refusing my offer because of the CEO?” Charles asked and the manager’s eyes widened with shock. “No.” He replied firmly. “The CEO has nothing to do with this and he’s not present to debate this outrageous idea with you. Now, please leave.” Charles knew he was lying because the CEO was present in the hotel. As a matter of fact, he came for an inspection of the hotel and its services. “I know you’re lying. The CEO is in the hotel as we speak. Why don’t you take me to him since he’s the man I need to talk to?” Using his persuasion skill, the manager swiftly rose from his seat. “Ok. I’ll take you to the CEO to discuss the matter. Let’s go.” He led Charles out of his office to the CEO’s office. As they walked in, the CEO, Mr. Pascal was seating behind a large black desk. He was a fat man with a crooked smile. His stomach was almost touching the desk as he sat and a large tray of food was placed in front of him. “How may I help you?” Mr. Pascal asked, almost choking on the food he was eating. “I have a business deal to propose but I want to discuss it in private.” Charles answered. “John, you may go back to your office.” Mr. Pascal dismissed the manager. He left immediately without taking a glance back. “Go on!” Mr. Pascal yelled. “Don’t waste my time. I don’t have all day.” He was an impatient man who spent most of his time eating. Most of the revenue generated from the company went to his tummy because of his unhealthy consumption of food and alcohol. Charles was calm as he presented the idea to him. “I want to buy your hotel. I’ve spoken with your manager but he insisted I need to speak with you first.” Immediately, a chicken wing dropped from Mr. Pascal’s hands and he glared at Charles in anger. “Are you crazy? Is this the stupid business deal you have? Now, get out of my office!!” Charles immediately read his mind and realized that Mr. Pascal was in great debt. Due to some of his gambling habits, he lost a great deal of money. Charles knew that if he persuaded him more, he would sell the hotel to pay up his debts. “I know you’re in great debts.” Charles said and Mr. Pascal froze. “This is your chance to be free from those men that are on your neck. Name your price and I’ll pay immediately.” Mr. Pascal wondered within him how Charles knew he was in debt. He didn’t tell anyone, not even his wife or sons. Could it have been that the gambling agency sent him? “Look, I’m not going to sell my hotel to you.” He spat, saliva droplets flying around the air. “I will find a way to settle my debts.” “But your time is running out. I have five million dollars to pay now. Are you going to consider my offer or not?” Mr. Pascal was panicking. On one hand, he knew the money Charles was offering would help him pay off his debts. But on the other hand, he didn’t want to lose his hotel. Also, he was under pressure to pay off the debts like Charles said and he didn’t know why he was so compelled to sell the hotel to him. He didn’t know that Charles was using his strong persuasion skills on him. “You said you have five million dollars?” He asked again, stroking his beards. “Yes.” “Can you pay now?” “Yes. I’ll make a bank transfer of the money.” Mr. Pascal took out a piece of paper and wrote his bank details. “Send the five million dollars to this account and when I confirm it, I’ll hand over the documents affirming you as the owner of the hotel.” “We need a lawyer to confirm the legal process of the transaction. I don’t want you to come back in a few days and claim I don’t own the hotel anymore.” Charles demanded. Mr. Pascal quickly put a call to his lawyer who was present in the hotel and he arrived swiftly. “I’ve made the transaction and you should expect five million dollars in your account soon.” Charles said. After some minutes, Mr. Pascal received a notification that five million dollars had been sent to his bank. “I’ve received the amount you sent.” He confirmed it. “Now, fulfill your own end of the deal.” Charles requested. Mr. Pascal brought out the documents from his safe and handed them to Charles. After Charles examined them and confirmed they were really the ownership rights of the hotel, he passed it to the lawyer to sign. The signing process took less than a minute with Charles beaming with joy as he was handed the official ownership rights of Golden State Hotel. “Now, I must announce you as the new CEO of the hotel,” the lawyer said shaking Charles. “Mr. Pascal will vacate from this office within 24 hours and everything will be yours.” “Thank you. It was nice doing business with you.” The lawyer led Charles out of the office and to the host room where all hotel announcements are made. “It is with great pleasure that we announce that the ownership of this hotel has been transferred from Mr. Pascal to Mr. Charles Lincoln.”
