Revenge of the Rejected
Both Charles and James turned to look at him instantly, eager to know who it was that had come to their rescue. “Who are you?” Charles questioned inquisitively. “I think that’s not important now. But if you must know, I’m Anthony.” The young man revealed himself. “Oh, Anthony, nice to meet you. I’m Charles, and this is James.” Charles introduced he and James to Anthony. “Nice to meet you too.” “So, how did you know we’re in need of help?” Charles asked, trying to be certain that the young man knew what exactly they needed help for. “I watched you from a distance when you were at Mr. Thompson’s door. I thought you were his son who has come here to live for the three years left, but I guess you’re not.” “You live here?” “Yeah. But I also do travel around for a few reasons.” “Alright, so, you said you can help us. In what way?” Charles questioned. “Well, let’s say I know where Mr. Thompson lives.” He uttered with confidence. “What! Are you sure about this? You know where he lives?” Charles exclaimed, feeling hope, bubble in the lower part of his stomach. “Yes, I do. Mr. Thompson and I were actually close pals because I took interest in law, so I went to his place daily to learn and sometimes even followed him to court to see how he does his things.” “Wow, that’s… that’s great.” “I know right? So, before he left, he told me where he stays. I’ll also like to see him briefly, so I can take you to where he stays.” “Oh! That’s not a problem. Do you drive?” Charles asked, politely. “Yes, I do. I can drive to make it easier, rather than directing where to go to and sort.” Charles and James welcomed Anthony in and he took over the driver’s seat while the driver himself sat at the second seat. He was quite happy that someone had come to relieve him of his duties, so he rested well, taking in the beautiful scenery as they drove off.“He actually stays out of this town, so it might be a sort of distance, but we’ll get there by night fall.” “Alright then.” Charles responded, feeling happy. “Can you tell us the address, just so we’ll have it in mind?” James requested for the information. “Yeah sure. It’s at Andrews Ave, Houston Street.” Anthony responded and James wrote it down on his notepad. “Do you really need to do that?” Charles whispered. “Yeah, just in case.” James responded. Back at Sunrise Resort, Sandra, Tyson and Carlos were taking a break when a text popped up on Sandra’s phone. “Finally! Some network.” She uttered happily and looked at both her sons who were sleeping due to how exhausted they were. She rose to her feet, and opened the text message. “There’s an important business I’ll like to speak about with you. Would you be available this evening?” Sandra shrieked when she found out that it was about two days ago, and this was someone she had wished secretly to do business with. “Oh, no.” She muttered under her breath. Then she tried to text the person back, but the network connection failed to send the message. “Shit!” She cursed out loud, but it wasn’t loud enough to wake both Tyson and Carlos up. Sandra walked out of the room and headed to the receptionist. “Look. There has been no network connection for days now, and I’m getting sick and tired of this. I just got an important message which I ought to have responded to, two days ago.” “We’re sorry about that, but none of these is our fault.” Sandra rolled her eyes and could almost grab the ladies by their collar and threaten them, but she knew that would only worsen their situation as she still didn’t have any hope of being rescued from such situation. “You know what? Allow me to go out to settle things while I leave both my sons here. I’ll come back with my payment. Just allow me leave.” Sandra suggested. “I’ll give you all, tips, if you want.” She spiced it up, hoping they would be tempted at the sound of that. “We’re sorry, ma’am. But that can’t be possible. We are following our boss’ orders to keep you here until you’ve completed your term of work.” “What! But your boss isn’t here. I’ll be back before he finds out. And if he fires you, you can always come to work over at my company. I’ll pay you double of what he pays you.” The receptionists shook their head to express the fact that they weren’t interested in her offer. They knew better than anyone that it was better to work for Charles than to work for her. They all knew how ruthless the Lincolns could be, when working with them, and Sandra’s promises and assurance were not something they could bank on. “Shit! Why don’t you people understand that this is an emergency!” Sandra yelled at them, feeling the rage inside of her, grow. She could destroy anything at this point, but before she could lay her hands on anything, Carlos held her back. “Mother, don’t make things worse!” He whispered into her ears, firmly, and then Sandra let out heavy breaths, trying to calm her anger down, and then Carlos led her away from the reception. “Let’s just focus on completing our work term, and we’ll know how to get back at him.” Carlos said to Sandra, hoping that would calm her down. He himself couldn’t wait for an opportunity to crush Charles until there was nothing left of him. ~ A few hours had passed, and the day had turned into night, but Anthony had assured them that they had almost gotten to their destination. “Finally!” Charles uttered firmly under his breath as the browser page finally loaded. James who noticed, moved closer to Charles and they both stared at the meaning of the words together, but to their uttermost shock, it was an address and a text. “Ensure that when you get this, you do not reveal it to anyone. Do not trust anyone either. I’ll be waiting for you, although, I hope you find me soon. -Mr. Thompson Both Charles and James exchanged shocked looks and then both glanced at Anthony. “Then where is he taking us to?” James asked, alerted by the situation. “The question is, who exactly is he?”
