Revenge of the Rejected

Chapter 136

Charles' brows furrowed as he noticed that corruption had been going on since the last time he thoroughly checked through what was going on in the company. Then he assembled the people who were involved and investigated them, questioning them one by one until they confesssed. “I would have decided to arrest you all because I have the power and right to do so, but I'll let you off the hook to learn your lesson, but from now henceforth, I don't want you in this company anymore.” Charles spoke loudly and then rose to his feet. The four men who were involved in the embezzlement all knelt down, begging Charles. “I have spoken and that's how it should play out. If you anger me, I'll have no choice than to send you to jail.” He threatened and then turned to other staffs who were watching. “I know there are still some people like these men here, but I'll adjure you to change now when you still have the chance or your punishment will be worse than theirs.” He warned, and walked out. Vera followed after him and when Charles got into the car, he hit his wrist on the car seat. “Those men will never change. So, all these while they've been embezzling funds and getting their salaries at the same time.” Charles voiced out as Vera sat comfortably. “I also apologize for this. I should have also been checking it.” Vera spoke with respect. “It's fine. You have too much work load on you, already. Let's head home.” Charles uttered and Vera started the car. Charles’ driver had been given the rest of the day off, so Vera had to do the driving. Charles couldn't even drive, not when they had gotten on his nerves. As he got home, he laid on the bed immediately and watched as the sun went down from his bed. He wasn't ready to move an inch as his body was extremely exhausted from the whole journey he had. But before his eyes and mind went shut, he went through the text of James’ report concerning his conversation with Mr. Lincoln. Charles smiled and then placed his phone beside him, then closed his eyes, feeling really close to sleeping off. The next day, Charles had gotten to the Lincoln's home, and he was also ready for whatever stress they were going to make him go through as well. After all, he left so many work undone and who knows if the maid herself was around yesterday, too. “Welcome, Charles. I see you've gotten much better.” Sandra said, still giving him a look like she was looking down on me. A few days ago, she had this look like she treasured him, and now, it seemed he was nothing to her. While Charles didn't care if he saw her as a treasure or not, he still wanted to make sure that he was still worthy to be working here. He hadn't gotten the important information he wanted to retrieve, from working here. “A few of my friends and respectable people of high position will be coming in a few hours, so I need you to ensure the lawn is looking really amazing. I want them to be wowed when they set their eyes on it.” Charles could have almost rolled his eyes, but in the process of doing that, he cautioned himself and acted like he was cleaning his face. “Do you understand me?” “Yes, ma'am.” Charles responded. “Good. Now, off to work.” In days of working here, Charles understood that the Lincoln's had not taken in more than one person for each position in the house, because they didn't really trust people. Definitely, there were some things they were hiding that they didn't want anyone to find out about, at all. However, Charles was still glad that he didn't have to do the maid's work today. He got to the garden, and thought of new unique styles, and even researched on them. As soon as he was done making his research, he started his work on the garden. It took him a few hours to design something beautiful, but thankfully, he was able to get it done before Sandra's visitors came in. It was more like a mini party and get together as Sandra and her guests talked over their food, and laughed at intervals. Charles watched them from a corner in spite as he really was disgusted by the smile that appeared on everyone's face. He didn't anyone to tell him that everyone sitted were involved in one heavy corruption or the other. After all, birds of the same feathers flock together.“Just keep enjoying while this lasts. Soon, you'll be regretting all of your evil and dirty actions. And for even encouraging my father not to take care of my mother when she really needed his help, you'll suffer greatly.” Charles thought to himself. Then he felt a loud slap at the back of his neck. With anger, he turned to the back to see who had the guts to slap him all of a sudden, but he realized it was none other than Tyson. “You're annoyed? Oh, do you want to give me a slap as well?” Tyson teased, then dragged Charles by the collar and led him to the living room where Sandra and her visitors could see both of them from the dining room if they wished to look. “No… I thought…” “What were you thinking? You are really a disrespectful trash. You should know that everyone in this house is much more influential than you, and no one else would dare do this to you except us. So, your anger was real, and intentionally darted at me.” “No… you don't have to misunderstand.” Charles tried to ensure that this wouldn't turn into a scene. A scene which would reveal his true identity. “Oh, I see. Okay then, so you don't mind me slapping you again?” Tyson said, then raised his hand to slap Charles again, but Charles held his wrist firmly, stopping his hand from getting to his face. “How dare you! Do you know who I am?” Charles yelled, losing it completely.
