Alpha Nicholas’s Forbidden Little Mate

Chapter 115

Alpha Nicholas As if today hadn't already been a mind fuck enough the moment I saw Harriot waiting outside of my office door with the look that she had on her face I just knew that things were about to get so much worse. I swear to every high power out there that the moon goddess has personally been out to test me lately. I mean, seriously, after everything that my mate and I have been through, after everything that my pack has been through, I don't understand why all this bad stuff keeps happening. If the moon goddess is trying to test me then it's about time that she gave it a rest, and if all this shit isn't to do with her then we must be seriously cursed. Fuck, whoever it is that's doing this needs to give it up now because I'm not sure how much more I can take and I'm not sure how much more any of my pack members and family can take. I'm not saying that all of this shit is going to break us or tear us apart because it's not. As a family and as a pack we are so much stronger than that but still... everyone has their breaking point, speaking of break, a break from any shit for just a little while would be a very welcome gift. After ushering Harrot into my office, I wait for her as she takes a seat in front of my desk while I take a seat in my chair behind my desk. Her hands are shaking, and it's clear that she is worried, which only heightens my concern for what she's about to say. "What's going on, Harriot?" She takes a deep breath as she picks up a large brown folder that she's holding in her hands, and as the seconds tick by, I want nothing more than to hurry her along; instead, I use all my strength to give her the time that she so clearly needs. "After the appointment with you and Luna Bonnie, I couldn't help but feel that something wasn't right. Given the stage of pregnancy that Bonnie is at, doc not picking it up at the first scan seems almost impossible, and even if he did somehow manage to miss it on the first scan, there is no way that he would have missed the baby on either of the other two appointments." "I agree, I have been thinking about it since we left the hospital. Bonnie was worn out after the appointment, so I made her take a nap, but I was planning on talking to her about it once she woke up. She was fairly quiet after the appointment, and I'm pretty sure that she's also thinking the same as me." "You are right, too." There's an edge to her voice, along with a look in her eyes that screams that there's more to this. "What ain't you telling me, doc?" She takes a deep breath as her grip tightens on the folder that's in her hands. "Before the appointment, I had asked for Luna Bonnie's records but had been told that they were unavailable. I thought it was a little strange, but I didn't think too much of it. I just figured that they were being cautious, considering how Bonnie is the Luna and I was just a stand-in doctor. However, after the appointment, I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right, so after I left the medical room, I went to the doctor's office to try and find Luna's records myself. I know it was wrong of me to do and that I could be punished for it, but I couldn't shake the horrible feeling that I had inside, still have. " "I'm guessing those are her records?" I ask, pointing to the folder that she's still holding with an iron grip. She nods but has a strange look on her face, almost as if she doesn't want to show them to me, and that just instantly spikes my interest and makes my heart pound at the same time. I hold out my hand, silently asking her to give the documents to me. "Where did you find them?" I ask as she hands them over to me. "They... they were in his filing cabinet only, they weren't filed normally. They were laid down on the bottom of the drawer as if he was..." "As if he was hiding them." My words are a fact, not a question, and Harriot's quick nodding only confirms that. "Have you read these records?" Again, she nods as she shifts uncomfortably in her chair. "I wanted to look them over to see if anything was indeed wrong or if there was a simple explanation to all of this." "And seeing how you have brought them to me, I'm going to go ahead and guess that there wasn't a simple explanation to all of this?" She shakes her head. "No Alpha, I'm afraid there wasn't. I think you should take a look. Oh, and Alpha, I just want to make it clear that everything that I have read will remain confidential." "I know it will, Harriot. I trust you. I wouldn't have asked for your second opinion as a doctor if I didn't trust you." I watch as she visibly lets out a long breath, and relief washes over her face. "Thank you, Alpha. That means more than you know. Would you like me to leave so that you can read the file alone?" "No. You have already read the file, so there is no need for you to leave." She nods but doesn't say another word; instead, she looks down at her lap and respectfully gives me some form of privacy to read my mate's information. I mentally take a deep breath as I watch my hands shake a little as I open the folder, while my heart pounds in my chest. "I don't like this!" Storm growls. He has been as quiet as a mouse this whole time, but the moment that I need him to be quiet more than anything, he decides to pipe up. I get his feelings in this matter too, but right now, I could do without them still, I don't tell him what I'm thinking, even if he probably knows already. "I know, Storm. Me neither, but we need to know what's in this file. The doc is clearly up to something, and we need to find out what it is," He grunts his disapproval, but we both know that I'm right. "Fine, but compare me to a mouse again, and I'm going to drown you in the lake the next time we go for a run!" He huffs, and despite the situation, I find myself smiling at his words. I knew he would know what I was thinking. I shake my head, trying to clear it as I finally open the folder and start working my way through the papers. There aren't many papers in the file, but the more I read, the more I feel, anger rushing through my veins. "I'm going to kill him! I'm going to rip him apart limb from limb!" Strom growls so loudly that the growl of his voice rattles my head. "You and me both!" There are three stacks of papers in the folder. The first stack is from Bonnie's first appointment. The second stack is from her second appointment, and the third stack is from her third appointment, and while I've only had a brief read of the papers and don't know all that he has written yet, one thing is already more than clear. He knew... the doctor knew that Bonnie was pregnant from the very first appointment but what isn't clear is why he lied and kept it a secret, but I'm pretty sure that if I keep reading these papers, I will find out the reason, but I'm not going to like it. A lot of the papers have the usual writing that only another doc would understand but even once you get past that part there are still way too many fancy words being used for me to even attempt to try and figure out so I don't instead, I skim the fancy talk and look for the more basic details but honestly, there's not a lot to go with. There are a lot of fancy notes and some pictures but they are rather grainy and I can't make out what they are supposed to be but even with the difficulty of trying to figure out what has been said it's more than clear that the doc knew about my son and that he was hiding it from me and my mate but the question is why. I don't see anything in the notes to explain why, but one thing's for sure, and that is that the doc's time is up.
