Alpha Nicholas’s Forbidden Little Mate
Bonnie Three months later. After several weeks of sickness, insane fatigue, the worst mood swings, and another doctor's visit that didn't give us any answers, Nick insisted that we see the doctor again. However, unbeknownst to me, this time, he requested a different doctor, and if I'm being honest, I am grateful for it. Something is wrong, but for some reason, the normal doctor isn't able to figure out what it is, despite his years of experience with the most insane injuries and illnesses. If he can't figure out what's wrong with me, then maybe a different doctor can, because I'm starting to get worried now and so is Nick. He's not sleeping or eating like he usually does. He's constantly checking in on me, and unless I can go with him, he's cancelling any pack duties that are away from the pack lands, and I hate that I'm putting him through this. We step into the doctor's room and take a seat just as a female doctor walks into the room. "Hi, Harriot. Thank you for coming." Nick stands up and shakes her hand as he talks before turning his attention to me. "Bonnie, this is Harriot. She is a pack member and used to work alongside our doc until she decided to head for a new carrier. She is a qualified doctor and an incredible one at that. I asked her if she could come along to check you out as a second opinion and, luckily for us, she agreed." Looking at Nick, it's clear to see that he thinks a lot of this woman and if he trusts her then I have no reason not to. "Well, in that case, thank you for agreeing to see me." She turns her attention towards me, offering me a warm smile. "It is my honour, Luna." I instantly like this doctor and felt at ease with her which is great considering how I still struggle with feeling at ease around any new people that I meet. It is something that I'm working on every day, but I know that it's not going to be easy. After spending the next several minutes telling the doctor about my symptoms and explaining everything that has been going on, including the appointments that we have already had with the normal doctor, Harriot gives us both a confused look that instantly has me on edge. "OK, so based on what you have told me, I would also assume that you are pregnant but despite a positive pregnancy test, the doctor couldn't find a baby or heartbeat. "Is that correct?" She asks as she goes over the notes that she's made while we have been talking. "That's right," Nick answers, sounding slightly pissed. This whole situation is stressful for both of us. Even when I try to tell Nick that I'm ok, he feels my emotions through our bond and is instantly back to stressing. As much as I wanted to be pregnant at this point, I would just be happy to find out exactly what is going on with me, so I can reduce the stress I'm putting on Nick. He already deals with enough stress every day due to being an Alpha, he doesn't need me adding to it. "So when he did the scan he couldn't find anything. What about when he did an enteral examination?" "A what?" Nick asks, taking the words right out of my mouth. Hariot once again looks confused as she looks back and forth between Nick and me. "An enteral examination. Usually, when someone has a positive pregnancy test, but the doctor is unable to find a baby or heartbeat through a normal scan, they will perform an internal vaginal examination. It's a good way to pick up a pregnancy that is in its very early stages." "He didn't mention one of those exams," Nick says, now looking more pissed than ever, and I'm starting to get right there with him. "That is strange. OK, I would like to perform another scan on you if that is OK. I think we need to double-check that you are not in fact pregnant before moving forward with any other tests. I nod more than happy to get things started as Nick helps me lay back on the bed while the doctor gets the machine set up. Just a couple of minutes later the doc has gel on my stomach and her eyes are glued to the screen as she scans my stomach. "Holly goddess!" She gasps. "How is this... How didn't he..." "What's going on, doc?" Nick asks, his voice laced with anxiety. "Please, tell us what you see," He pleads as his grip on my hand tightens. "Well.... Alpha... Luna. I can confirm that you are indeed pregnant. Very pregnant." "Very pregnant?" I manage to ask all while still processing the news. I'm pregnant. I'm actually pregnant. She turns to face us, giving us both a nod as her wide eyes keep going between us and the screen in front of her. "Yes, Luna. Given the size of the baby and the dates that you have given me, you look to be around 5 months pregnant." "You what!" Both Nick and I shout at the same time. 5 months... "Are you sure, doc? 5 months.... that would mean that I only have a few more weeks left till the baby would be due." She nods as she once again looks at the screen, shock covering her face before bringing her attention back to me. "Yes, I'm sure, Luna. In fact, I can see what the sex of the baby is." "What is the sex?" Nick asks. When we first thought that we were pregnant, we had both agreed that we would want to know the sex of the baby, so I'm not surprised that he's asking. "Would you both like to know?" She asks and lets out a little laugh at how quickly we both nod our heads. Despite the shock of finding out that I'm pregnant and almost ready to give birth, I can already feel excitement setting in, and I'm pretty sure that Nick feels the same. "It's a baby boy." Tears stream down my eyes as I feel Nick's excitement rush through his body as he takes in the small shape that's on the screen. After a moment, he turns his attention to me, looking a little worried. "Are you OK, sweetheart? Do you not want a boy?" For a second I get slightly annoyed that he's even asking me that question, but then the reality of what has happened in the last few minutes hits me once more, and I take a moment to think about the fact that he's probably feeling just as confused as me right now, and I know that deep inside that he wouldn't ever mean it in a nasty way. "Of course, I want a boy, a girl, or a boy. As long as the baby is healthy, then I don't mind what sex they are." He gives me a warm beaming smile as I watch the pride in his eyes shine through. He already has a daughter and as much as I know that he wouldn't care if he was to have another girl, I also know that having a boy is something different for male wolves and given that Nick is the Alpha of this pack, our son will now be a future Alpha and that's something that I know that Nick will hold with pride. He won't love his son more than his daughter, nor will he have a better bond with him but it's just... it's just going to be different and I'm glad that he's going to get to experience it. As the doc continues to give us some basic details about our baby and checks for all the necessary things my mind starts to whirl with questions that I blurt out before I can stop myself. "Is the pup ok? I don't smoke and haven't had a drink since the night I arrived here but I haven't had any checkups. What if I have hurt him in some way? Is there anything that I should be doing or maybe any kind of medication that I should be taking? Wait... why am I still the same size? You say that I'm 5 months pregnant, just a few weeks away from giving birth but I'm not any bigger than normal." "Breathe, sweetheart." Nick places his hand on my cheek sending sparks souring through my body as he turns my head until I'm facing him. "You're ok. Everything is going to be ok. Just breathe." I let out a long slow breath as I try to calm the raging anxiety that is trying to claw its way through my body. "The pup looks perfectly healthy, Luna." The doc's voice grabs my attention as she says the words that I'm longing to hear. "From everything that I can see on here, he seems right on track for where he should be. As for taking any medication. there are some pre-natal pills that you can take to help keep him healthy, but honestly, you're already doing a great job." "And lastly, to answer your question about your lack of weight gain again, there isn't anything wrong. The baby is lying on your back which is why you haven't put on any weight. It happens more than you think and he should move himself soon enough and you will find that your stomach will pop out instantly when he does this." Neither Nick nor I say a word as we both listen to every single word that she says causing her to smile. "I know that it is a lot to take in so how about we stop this appointment here and allow you both some time to let the news sink in, and then I will arrange an appointment with the doc in a few days so that you can go back over everything and ask any questions that you make think of in the meantime." "I think that is a great idea. Thank you, Hariot. Thank you for this." Nick speaks for both of us as I remain silent and lost in my own world. Hariot soon leaves us alone and before I know it Nick has me tucked up in our bed and is telling me to take a nap. I've been so lost in my thoughts that I don't even remember leaving the hospital never mind getting to our bedroom, but as usual, Nick has looked after me and soon his words lull me to sleep as darkness quickly takes over. Alpha NicholasAs soon as I get my mate to take a nap I head to my office, some things ain't sitting right with me right now and I need to figure out what's going on. If there's one thing my father taught me growing up it's to always listen to my gut feeling and right now it's burning with accusations against someone I never thought it would. But after everything that has gone on recently, no one could blame me for feeling how I do. As I turn the corner to reach my office door I bump into Hariot who is standing outside seemingly waiting for me. "Is everything ok, Hariot?" She shakes her head and I feel dread settling in the pit of my stomach. "We need to talk, Alpha and you're not going to like it." Fuck what is it now?
