Caught Between Two Alphas

Chapter 222 What Happens Next?

DAWN’S POV I was dragged like a hardened criminal away from my father and mother. We walked for over an hour without stopping for some rest or water and whenever I attempted to take a break it was met with some brutal resistance. I was kicked and beaten for daring to delay them a second longer. Finally, we arrived at an old and deserted house on the outskirts of the Pack when it was almost dark. Throughout my life, I never knew somewhere as this exists. Of course, I know about this part of the Pack, but I have never met this old and rugged house that looked like it was going to collapse the next minute. If my family had ever accepted Scarlet, even if for just a day I would have been able to mind link her as my sister. But now I cannot get to her. Now, who do I call to save me from this fate? The inside of the house was looking even worse than the outside. Compared to the inside, the outside could be described as a castle. The buzzing of bees and flies filled the place. This indeed was the abode of all rodents. The house is dark and I could feel my feet occasionally stepping on cockroaches and the tails of a mouse who wince and run away as soon as I lift my legs. I even fear I might be bitten by a snake here because of how this place is. The whole place was dark and smelly and I could feel the think cobwebs cover my face as we went through. When I tried to pull them off, the men screamed at me and dragged my hands to force me to keep moving. But for the little light held by one of the men, I would not be able to see a thing here. The walls are dirty and black and I could see the traces of some faded colours. Occasionally some white and velvet colours here and there that have not been completely covered by the dust and cobwebs. I continued to follow them until I saw that I was about to be led down some steps and into the underground. I protested vehemently and refused to go on. “Where are you taking me? This is not the Packhouse. If I have done something against the Pack then I must be taken to the alpha” “Shut up, you girl. You are already condemned to death, what right do you have to make any demand?” one of the men yelled. “Take me away from here right away, what do you want to do with me?” I growled and cried profusely. My father was not with us, and neither was my mother. What if none of them know what has become of me, what if these men were not acting under the instruction of my father? Who are they and what do they want with me? “You are a traitor, you have no right at anything” the man yelled and hit my back hard. I winced in pain and let out a loud growl. “You are going to die soon, don’t trouble your wolf anymore. You led her into this” another man fumed. I saw that there was no need to continue to struggle. They are right, I am already about to be condemned by the Pack and even my wolf would not want to stand with me. They were taking me to a dungeon. If I thought the upper part of the house was like nothing that I have seen, then this underground part has no adequate phrase to describe it. Literally and in all sense of the word, this place was hell. I could no longer breathe properly down here and I had to rely on the sixth sense of my wolf to be able to grasp some air. “You are going to leave me here to die, aren’t you?” I murmured. I don’t need them to say it, I already know the answer to that. They don’t think I deserve a humble death. They want to leave my corpse here and let the rodents and reptiles feed on it. They want me to die as an outcast. Now I can tell that some bones I saw up there which I had dismissed as the bone of animals were those of humans, those that suffered the same fate as I am about to suffer. But then, how come I never heard of this place? I am a beta and so should know almost everything about my Pack. I should know that this was a place of extreme torture in the Pack. How come I have never seen anyone punished this way before? The alpha has never made use of this place to execute any of his verdicts. “That seems like a better option, but we would love to watch you die slowly by our hands” one of them giggled. Was he teasing me or is he been serious with his word? Before I could think of an answer to this, another one let out sinister laughter and said. “You can't die here, you are not allowed to. we would love to see your eyes shine wide in terror as we slowly replenish our souls with your blood” I was instantly gripped by fear. I could feel it, the wolves in them were not strong. It seems as if they are werewolves and yet they are not. Who are they...? “What are you and what do you want with me?” I begged as hot tears continued to pour down my eyes.“Just keep quiet” he yelled and threw me into an empty room. I landed on the bare floor in pain and remained there. I couldn’t dare to move an inch further as I don’t know the other occupants of the room. Vampires... That is the answer. I wiped my eyes and stopped crying as the iron door was locked from outside. There was no need to continue crying. If I am meant to die this way, then so be it. How would I have ever imagined that my father would sell me off to vampires, what does he hope to achieve by such an act? I shouldn’t try to patronize myself, if he could do all he did to Scarlet who was his first daughter, then who am I that he cannot do away with in the blink of an eye if he so desires? I looked around my new abode, a cell that would house me for my last day, or minutes on earth. The height of the room was tall, very much taller than an average room. It was about one and a half size of an average room and there was a little hole at the top of the walls which serves as the window and it was shielded by iron pillars. I almost found myself laughing at the sight of the protection on the window. I feel the shield was a waste as no one would ever dare to escape from such a high wall even if the window was left bare. With the windows inside the cell, I was glad that there would be some fresh air here and I would not be left to die of suffocation. However, come to think of it, isn’t suffocation better than having vampires feast on me? “Hey, what sound did I just hear now?” someone flung open the door and used his torch to survey the room. I kept quiet and didn’t say a word. “I just hear someone laugh, what game are you playing?” he asked in anger. I drew back in fear. At the point when he moved the touch around the room it had reflected on his face and I could tell that it was not his face that was there just now, but a zombie’s. “I am alone” I squealed. “Hahaha, it better be” he warned and walked out. “Wait... please hold on” I called. He stopped but did not bother to look at me. “What next? I want to know what to expect” I begged.“Uhhh...” he made some funny sound and walked out, locking the door securing after him. There have never been issues of zombies in this Pack, at least none that I know of. I could not help but wonder about the things that have changed since I left. Now I regret not waiting for Selena to explain when she wanted to.
