Caught Between Two Alphas
SCARLET’S POV ...You are with a child, my Chamlar... ...You are with a child, my Chamlar... ...You are with a child, my Chamlar... ...You are with a child, my Chamlar... ...You are with a child, my Chamlar... These words kept echoing in my ears, they would not stop playing? The rhythm continued non-stop. I was almost going to lose consciousness as everywhere was spinning but through the help of lord Nathan who held on to my waist and refused to let go, I was able to remain strong. I led the way out of my Chamlee’s chambers and they all followed behind. This discussion must be done somewhere very far away from my Chamlee. I do need to understand what the witch is talking about. On our way out, I met Lara and Rich but I said no word to them despite their questioning gazes. Maybe I should not have brought this witch here in the first place, but then I saw with my eye how she was able to help my Chamlee to the extent that she could, and I know that she would have done more if it was within her capacity. But what was I even thinking? As the queen of the Pixies, I should know better than everyone else that nothing goes for nothing. It is not every problem that money and wealth can solve, and Chamlee’s case is one of those. The journey to the throne room seems to take forever. I was walking, but each step I took seemed to lead me further away from the throne room. It was as if I was going backward in my steps. I might have to make a very important decision and I will need the symbol of my authority to do so. My throne. When we arrived at the throne room, I walked over to my throne and sat on it. The guard beside me took my crown and place it on my head. “We might have to have that discussion here, away from my Chamlee,” I said to the witch immediately everyone was settled in.The elders are here already and almost every member of the palace has arrived, all waiting to hear the news from the witch that I have invited. “That is okay, my Chamlar” she replied. “Speak now, everyone is listening” I ordered. “The Chamlee, my queen...” she began. I was already impatient and so I flared in anger. “And what about the Chamlee?” “He desires to live but it is not an easy task. The spell guiding the poison is irreversible. Not even the witch that did that can reverse it. It is a surprise that the Chamlee... is still alive” she replied and cast her face downwards. “And now, what can be done?” I asked. I still cannot place my hands on the reason she is still going around in circles. Does she think that I am about to ask for her head for her unimaginable demand? “My Chamlar, in a case like this one, for a life to be saved, a life must give way” she replied quietly. Yes, that is what she said already. But what does that have to do with my pregnancy and how did she even know that I am pregnant? Of course, she is a witch, what do I expect? I did not say a word to her. She can get her demands done with or she leaves my land immediately. The thought of her leaving without achieving the desired result cut my heart like a sharp-edged sword. What more can be done to save my man? A tear dropped from my eyes. Once again, she stared at my stomach but this time, there was no smirk. It was obvious that she was already very scared for her life. “You are with a child, my Chamlar” she murmured. “You are not my physician, and that is not why I invited you here” I retorted. “I am sorry, my Chamlar, but... it’s just that it has a role to play in this” she said. “Let it not be what I am thinking or I will have you beheaded this very minute” Moorso yelled furiously and pointed at the witch in anger. “Hold on, Moorso. Let her finish” I urged. “We brought her here, and that does not mean that she can take us for some cheap jokes” Tensa fumed angrily.I waited for the tension to die down before talking. “Speak, woman. What solution is there to save the Chamlee?” “My... my... Chamlar...” she hesitated to go on. “I am waiting, woman” I yelled. LANDON’S POV Now it has gotten to sacrificing the child in the luna’s stomach for some cheap witchcraft. Just how hilarious would this get. The luna cured Lalic of this same ailment and no life was lost in the process. Now, why should the luna be required to give up her precious fetus? I felt like wrecking this witch. Left for me, she would not have been here in the first place. I already know nothing good can come out of her visit. And why is she hesitating to speak? If she wants to eat some helpless fetus, then she should be proud of it and speak out loud. She should not try to play the good girl with us here. She wants the luna’s fetus to heal the Chamlee as she claimed but that will never be possible. No... the luna will do anything, just anything. What if she agrees to this witch, what if the witch takes her womb in the process? Oh no, there is nothing I can do about this. Should I act now, the luna will believe that it is a result of my already biased mind and she might even misinterpret it to mean that I would rather sacrifice Lalic. Right now, I am in a tight spot, caught between two equal evils and not sure about how to prove that one is better than the other. Oh moon goddess, help us. Help the luna in this situation. May she not fall easy prey to this witch. “My Chamlar, for the Chamlee to live, then the life of his unborn fetus must be sacrificed in his place. He must have to drink the blood of the fetus to live” the witch finally spoke. I was waiting, hoping to see the luna get up angrily from her throne and order for the witch to be immediately beheaded. I was eager to carry out her order once it is given but to my disappointment, the luna remained on her seat and acted as if nothing unusual has been said. Is she really ready to let go of her unborn child? I waited patiently until the luna finally spoke. “Is there a guarantee that the Chamlee will live after this?” she asked.“Yes, my Chamlar, he desires to live. Once the sacrifice is completed, the Chamlee will be as good as new” the witch replied cheerfully. Her guts make me furious. I felt like strangling her. Or maybe the luna is only trying to set a trap for this witch. The luna is definitely not buying this. But the luna’s voice caught me off guard, and I know that it is over, it is already too late. “I am ready to do it, but make sure it works”
