BETA TIM’S POV As I was walking through the streets when suddenly I heard someone call out my name angrily. “Hey, beta Tim, stop right there” the voice screamed. “Yes, yes he is beta Tim, look at him” another voice added. There are the lads of our Pack wanting to take out their already built-up anger on me. They believe that I am the cause of all the evil that has befallen the three brother Packs, now they all see me as an enemy, their foe and now, seeing me they are ready to verge their anger on me. What can I do? I have been avoiding them ever since I returned. I know that I have failed them, but then, all I have been doing is just so as to make it up to them. Why don’t they appreciate that? “Stop right there, Tim or do you think that we are still afraid of your arrogance? Even the alpha agrees that you are a failure, a big one” the first voice yelled. I ignored them and was going to take another step when a hand dragged me and almost threw me on the floor. “Let go of me, brothers, lynching me is not going to bring any solution” I screamed as I pulled away from the grip. “And what will happen if we don’t? You’ve already brought so much misery upon us. What good is your life worth” someone shouted. I turned around, they were already gathered around me, their faces filled with spite and ready to pounce on me the next second. I took the opportunity to look at each of their faces. They are all members of the Pack, young boys between the ages of eleven to sixteen. They are about ten of them. They are no match for me, but I have caused much damage already unless I want to completely wipe out our Pack myself. Of course, they are still alive and moving around because there are not of the fighting age and so did not join in the battle. The older boys of the Pack are either dead or nursing their wounds. They are still occupied with trying to recover. But the younger boys are eager to deal with me themselves. “See I am going to the Packhouse, the alpha sent for me. I have to go to him now as it is very crucial” I said. “No, we will not allow you to go off so easily. See what harm you have brought among us. Very soon we will be nothing but slaves under the rule of a woman. You have to pay for it” one of them said. From my observation, he should be the smallest, barely more than eleven years old.“Yes, we would leave you a message for the alpha. Since he does not want to act accordingly, we would send your disfigured body to him” another lad said. His eyes were blood red. “See, I know how you all feel, I suffered from the war too” I tried to appeal to them but they were having none of it. “Tell me, what did you suffer?” the lad his eyes were red asked. “I have no mother but a father and two brothers. They all were cajoled to your evil war and I would have joined them too if not that I am just fourteen. But what do I get in return? None of them came back” he stopped, looked at me for a second, and yelled into my face. “They all died in your stupid war and now I am all alone” The story of the lad is pitiful but what can I do? we all suffered from this war, this stupid idea of mine. “See, take it easy...” before I could finish, a lad pulled me back with force and tried to fling me away as if I was some piece of cloth, but I was too heavy for him to fling. “You keep quiet, you know nothing. You don’t know the pains that we have to go through. What do you know?” the lad that was pulling at me angrily yelled in frustration as he was not able to get his desired result. He was the one flinging instead. He is so lean that his weight is nothing compared to mine. One of the lads walked up to my front and looked me straight in the eyes and said. “You have no idea what we are all going through, beta Tim. We are cursed to have you as our beta. Where did you even emanate from? Those that have not lost their fathers lost their brothers...” “And many lost their fathers and brothers and even uncles. Many lost their lives all thanks to your stupidity” another lad yelled angrily from the side. He is the youngest among them. “Now what do you have to say, how do you remedy this unfortunate disaster that you have brought upon us?” the lad in my front asked aggressively. “No, we will not give him an opportunity to explain. He has never done anything right his whole life and we are done placing our fate in his hand. I say will kill him now and send his remains to the alpha and get a trophy” the lad with red eyes suggested. “Huuuu... eyyyyy, yeaaaaa” they all screamed in support. This does not look like a child’s play anymore. If nothing is done now, the lads will not think twice before they rip off my skin. They will not stop when they decide to take out their frustration on me. I must do something. Just when one of them was about to grab me, I screamed. “But my sons... you know them, general Carl and general Hedrick. They are lying in my house, almost lifeless. I suffered from the war too” Hearing what I said, they all pulled away except for the red eyes. They all revered Carl and Hedrick, everyone does and that is my saving grace. The red eyes rushed to my front and spat into my face. “You brought that upon yourself, evil man. You brought these calamities upon us all so don’t act all pity and victimized” he yelled. He looked at the others, but they drew back a little, not ready to support him any longer. However, he was not deterred by their reluctance, he went on. “You don’t deserve to live any longer, Tim, and even your sons should die too. we all lost our loved ones in that useless stunt pulled by you” There were inaudible murmurs in the background. Possibly some argument among the lads. I decided to seize this opportunity. Now that the camp is divided, I will have to establish my reign. No one dares to attack me another day. I grabbed the red eyes lad and pulled him off the ground pressing his neck in the process. “You let go of me, evil man. Do you want to kill me too? Put me down immediately” he screamed and was kicking and pushing but his strength is no match for me. I took the opportunity to give my speech. “Our prestigious Pack was looked down on and I did not sit back but went to defend our right. I did not just go alone but went with my two sons even when the alpha did not get up from his throne. Now I have my sons on the verge of death. I am not sitting by their bedside mourning for them, I am still working for this Pack. I got the great witch to remain on our side and help us fight against the evil queen when she attacks. And even now, thanks to the great witch, the Pixies will soon lose their King. I did all these even now that I am not sure of the survival of my sons, I did this for us, our Pack and what do I get in return? Betrayers, backbiting, and attacks, series of them” Saying this, I pulled out fire from my mouth and set the lad on fire, all thanks to the power from Mildrid. Other lads watch in horror as their accomplice burns right before them. I flung the lad on the floor and allowed him to scream and struggle as he burns. “You will all agree that he should not be suffered to live. He already has enough hate and bitterness in his heart against our Pack and our great Pack does not need folks like him. Leave him to go join the rest of his family” I said. They all nodded in confusion, not sure if to be angry against me or the burning lad. But what do I care? “If you all will allow me, the alpha is waiting for me. I have a duty to this Pack” I said and walked out proudly.This will be the second time I have to do this, next time, I will spare no one. that is a promise.
