I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date

Chapter 1431 The Day Of The Adoption Ceremony

The adoption ceremony was set to take place at La Oriele. The choice of location alone spoke volumes about its high-profile nature. The added presence of Dexter, making an appearance with the child, drew attention from all sectors of society. When Arnold entered the banquet hall, he glanced at the gift list. The present from Dexter was an umbrella, crafted entirely from pure gold. He flashed a smile, and one could still catch a glimpse of his former charming and suave demeanor. Dexter occupied the most opulent private room on the first floor, positioned directly across from Arnold's. The two men locked eyes, tension simmering in the air between them. When Summer walked in, Salazar was just making an appearance with Ashton. Felicia was by his side, smiling pleasantly. Summer was somewhat taken aback. She hadn't expected her to be present. Summer thought if she were his wife, she would never tolerate such unfaithful behavior from him. But she wasn't. She was merely the third party, a mistress. As she was about to enter the private room, her gaze suddenly landed on a familiar figure. Laura? What is she doing here? She should have no connection to this event whatsoever. As the mother of the child, Selena didn't reveal her identity when she entered the second floor. Laura trailed behind her. As she entered a room, Laura raised her hand to stop the door that was about to close. Selena saw her, and her face drastically changed. “Who are you?” “Ms. Quiroz, I've long heard of you, and now we finally cross paths.” In a private room on the third floor, Ryan trailed behind Morgan. “Even though you're in disguise, being here is still too risky.” Morgan rested his hands on the railing, gazing down at the bustling scene below, a sense of melancholy washing over him. “After years of careful planning, the time has finally come to remove my mask. I want to bear witness to the process.” In the private room, Salazar led Ashton to greet each person at every table. The resemblance between the father and son was strikingly evident to the discerning eye, yet no one dared to comment on it openly. They simply offered their congratulations. Arnold watched it all unfold, casually lighting up a cigarette. A man nearby, oblivious to the situation, suggested, “I heard that Mr. Russell from Russell Group is just next door. How about we go and propose a toast?” Arnold took a puff from his cigarette. “You've never met Mr. Russell?” The man shook his head. “Of course not. I've been in Rivodia for a long time.” “Then have you seen me before?” The man was taken aback. Someone whispered in his ear, and his expression changed. “Mr. Carter... I'm sorry. I didn't know it was you.” Arnold didn't pay him any mind. He picked up his pack of cigarettes, then left the private room and ascended to the second floor. Before long, Dexter also rose from his seat and headed toward the second floor. Ryan took in everything and said, “Summer caught Selena in the act of stealing surveillance footage. She's already dealt with her.” Morgan turned his head. “Arnold sure knows how to deal with Dexter.”“You trust Arnold that much?” “He has no choice but to act, with his father and Josie in Dexter's hands,” Morgan said with utmost certainty. The door closed, and the two parties came together, but what they discussed was not the matter at hand. “Within a ten-mile radius, there are plain-clothes police officers arranged by the Yowell family. They are more than enough to stir up a storm.” Dexter sat in the shadows. He reached for a pot of tea and said without any change in his expression, “I've brought you your favorite chamomile tea. I've never been able to get used to this tea. Good tea should be left to those who appreciate it.” The hot water began to bubble, allowing the tea leaves to unfurl. Arnold leaned against the window, remaining silent for a moment before he finally asked, “What makes you so sure that I will help you?” “I was unsure at first, but after hearing your conversation with Summer, I became certain.” Arnold was taken aback for a moment before he realized something. “Summer is also on your side.” Dexter handed him a cup of tea.“You're even more meticulous than I thought,” Arnold said, a hint of admiration in his tone.
