I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date
All economic matters in Wavery were left to Preston to handle. Dexter's private jet took off from Wavery International Airport. Inside, only a select few accompanied him, among them were Selena and Ashton. Dexter closed the book he was reading and asked the child, “Are you nervous? You're about to have a father soon.” Ashton was quite composed. “I don't believe that man is my father. I agreed to go because you all wanted me to.” Dexter's eyes were filled with amusement. “You have a promising future with your personality. However, being too precocious at this age isn't good.” “Why not? I believe when you were young, you must have been quite like me.” Reflecting on the past, Dexter said, “Indeed, which is why I know that being precocious is an inevitable choice.” “What about Grape?”A hint of warmth seeped through Dexter's tense demeanor. “It's fine as long as she's happy. She doesn't need to be smart.” The boy was taken aback, feeling as if something had struck him internally, leaving him speechless. Meanwhile, a plane that had taken off from Rivodia landed in Wavery. As soon as Angel disembarked from the plane, she hailed a cab to Olsen Group. She'd seen the news that Josie had already started working there. “Hello, I'd like to meet Josie Warren, though she might go by Liana Olsen now. Regardless, I need to see her. Please let her know my name is Angel Teneson. She will agree to see me.” The receptionist watched as she quickly spewed a flurry of words and revealed a curious expression. “Ms. Warren... has been taken away by the Securities and Exchange Commission.” Angel was surprised. “Does Dexter not care about such a big thing?” The receptionist wasn't sure how to respond. Angel didn't stay long. She clutched her stomach and quickly ran outside. She hailed a cab and instructed, “To Russell Mansion.” She had practically no time to spare. Outside Russell Mansion, she felt a sudden pang in her abdomen. “I need to see Mr. Russell! It's urgent.” “Mr. Russell has just left.” Despite being under the warm sunlight, Angel felt as if she was in the bitter cold of deep winter. She stood there in utter despair, momentarily at a loss for what to do next. Just then, a black car emerged from the courtyard. It was none other than Preston. He rolled down the car window, his face impassive as he asked, “What's going on?” The guard said, “She said she wanted to see Mr. Russell.” Angel turned her head, exchanging a distant gaze with Preston. Half an hour later, Angel had finally clarified her intentions. “So I must see Josie to tell her what I know.” Preston was fiddling with the ring on his thumb, narrowing his eyes. “You claim to be Ryan's wife, so you should be on his side. Why are you helping us?” “Precisely because I'm his wife, I can't bear to watch him descend into hell. Josie has been kind to me. I don't want to see her in trouble either.”“Mr. Kaufman, what do I need to say for you to believe me? We're running out of time!” Preston believed in most of what she said, but Dexter had insisted that they could only rescue Josie the following day. “Forget it.” He pulled out the slip of paper and dialed the number quickly. “Is this Mr. Shaw? I'm Kaufman. Mr. Russell asked me to get in touch with you.” Dexter was right. Finding Zachariah was indeed the key to securing Josie's release. The speed at which everything happened took even Josie by surprise. “Remember, you only have one day,” Zachariah reminded his long-lost friend as he released her from captivity. “When you return, you'll still need to undergo an investigation.” A sense of foreboding intensified within Josie when she saw Angel waiting outside.
