I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date

Chapter 1432 Keep You Alive

“The Arnold I know never looks back, nor does he ever persuade others to do so.” Dexter leaned on the couch, his black shirt unbuttoned at the top, exuding an undeniable allure. “It seems that during the several months hiding out in South East Aploth, quite a few interesting things happened between you and Ms. Yowell.” “You knew my whereabouts for a while and had sent people to follow me.” Dexter neither confirmed nor denied it. Arnold stood against the light for a moment before he finally decided to sit down. He picked up the teacup and took a sip, his Adam's apple moving subtly. He looked up. “You know, I was once in love with Josie.” Dexter's expression darkened. This was the one thing he least wanted to admit. “Perhaps there was a moment when she also had feelings for you.” Arnold's normally cold and rigid face showed a hint of emotion. “She told you, didn't she? So you've lost to me before.” His laughter grew louder and louder. He leaned back. “Dexter, you're too confident. Aren't you afraid I might just take you down right here?” He drew a gun from his waist and placed it on the table. The barrel of the gun was pitch black. Dexter smiled slightly, also taking a gun from his waist and placing it on the table. “This is my trump card. If you make a move, I assure you, I won't be any slower than you.” For over two years, they had been sworn enemies. But there came a day when they were completely honest with each other, trusting each other more than anyone else. Arnold's smile faded. “Have you ever considered what would happen out there if you were to die?” “The evidence is currently en route to the federal government.” “What about Josie?” “If I died, the Russell family would take her in. With the protection of the Olsen and Russell families, she would have more than enough to live out the rest of her life in peace.” Arnold nodded, leaning over to pour Dexter a cup of tea. “How long will my sentence be if I plead guilty?” “I will do my utmost to keep you alive,” Dexter said. That was the best guarantee he could make. “Ms. Yowell is a woman of good character. She will wait for you.”“I don't want to come out, nor do I want to keep her waiting. Just give it to me straight.” Dexter narrowed his eyes and repeated, “Life imprisonment is what you'll get.” A while later, Arnold slid his gun across the table toward him. “All you need to do is refrain from defending me.” Meanwhile, Morgan's expression changed on the third floor. It had already been ten minutes past the agreed time, yet everything inside was eerily quiet. “Why is there still no sign of activity?” “I'll send someone to investigate right away! Could something have happened to Arnold?” “It's impossible. I trained him myself. There's no way he could lose to Dexter!” “Then...” Ryan's expression shifted. He was ready to dash downstairs when suddenly the large screen in the banquet hall lit up. Images of Salazar and Selena in bed together began to display on the screen above. The explicitness of the photos was so intense that it was impossible to look away. Gasps of surprise echoed. The color completely drained from Morgan's face, and he stood frozen in place. “How could this be...” Inside a room on the second floor to the left, Selena was seated amidst a pool of blood, clutching a knife in her hand. She had just been through a bloody battle, exerting all her strength to play the VCR. Summer clutched her wound and stammered, “You were going to display your own picture...” Both she and Laura had guessed wrong. Breathing weakly, Selena said, “I'd give myself up to drag him down.” Soon, the voices of the staff echoed from outside, but it was already too late. Salazar wanted to leave immediately, but all the exits were blocked. Only then did he realize that the guards were not his men. “I've treated Mr. Dalton well over the years. How could he do this to me?” The other party stated, “We are not Mr. Dalton's men.” Shocked, Salazar stepped back.
