I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date
“If that's the case, why didn't you leave with Mark?” Summer's expression was rather awkward. “I'd rather die than have to spend time with Josie!” Arnold poured her a glass of wine as well. People bustled around them, busy preparing for the adoption ceremony that was to be held at La Oriele the next day. “Summer, have you ever considered looking back?” This statement left Summer completely stunned. “What are you talking about? Is this something Arnold would say?” He stopped at just the right moment. “Let's do it after tomorrow. Once everything is settled, I'll arrange it for you.” Summer was skeptical. She had begun to distrust Arnold all because of what he had said earlier. It was so abrupt as if he had completely changed into a different person. The surrounding area was filled with commotion as several bodyguards were escorting a man with a hood over his head away. Arnold asked, “Who is this?”“Mr. Carter, this is the man who had been following us from Wavery. Mr. Dalton asked us to deal with him.” Arnold narrowed his eyes, finding the silhouette he was looking at somewhat familiar. Not far off, Ryan checked his phone for the third time, his tone laced with impatience as he said, “The baby is already four months old. This is not the time for you to be taking risks.” Angel pleaded, “These past few days, my heart's been pounding non-stop. I've had a bad feeling, so I came to check on you. You... haven't done anything reckless, have you?” “What could I have possibly done? You're overthinking it.” No sooner had the words left his lips than the bodyguard stepped forward, pushing someone ahead of him. “Ryan, Angel, you're here too.” Upon witnessing this scene, Angel stepped back. “You lied to me... What are you trying to do...” She was emotionally scarred, and clearly, this wasn't her first time experiencing such a thing. Ryan's patience was nearly exhausted. “This person was following us first. What's the problem with me dealing with him?”“Why was he following you? Was it from Wavery? Is it because of Josie? You guys still refuse to back down!” Angel grew increasingly emotional. Ryan, at the end of his patience, pulled her aside. “You're carrying our child now. You should know what should be said and what shouldn't unless you want us all to perish.” Tears of fear and shock fell rapidly from Angel's eyes. “Ryan, why must you risk your life for Morgan? If you're caught, you'll be getting a death sentence!” “He saved my life. Without him, I would have been long gone. All I'm doing now is getting revenge for him. Do you understand what revenge is? They started it. They deserve what's coming!” Ryan's eyes were filled with an unnatural shade of crimson. Angel stood frozen. “Josie isn't that kind of person. Her father isn't either... Does what Shawn says mean he's right? There must be some misunderstanding. All we need to do is clear it up.” Ryan felt as if his head was about to split open with a headache. He didn't want to waste his breath arguing. “Men, take her home.” “Ryan! Ryan...”Angel's voice grew fainter and fainter, and only then did Ryan's emotions stabilize. The bodyguard asked, “What should we do about Zach?” “Bury him.” “But Mr. Dalton said—” “Don't you understand what I just said? I said, bury him. We must cut off all future troubles.” From within the black hood came a whimpering sound, marking Zach's final struggle. Morgan was too emotionally involved in this matter. Ryan thought he had to be a bit more ruthless on his behalf to avoid any unexpected incidents. Angel was escorted all the way back to her home in Rivodia. “Angel, taking care of your health is crucial since you're pregnant. It's best not to leave the house for a while.” Unexpectedly compliant, Angel gave a small nod. “I understand. You guys go ahead with your work.” The bodyguard nodded, only driving away after he saw her enter the door. But they didn't see that as soon as they left, Angel dashed out. She clutched her stomach as she ran onto the street to hail a cab. “Hello, take me to the airport as fast as possible!”
