I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date
She was taken away quite unexpectedly. The reins of the company had once again fallen back into Laura's hands. In the office, Mark sat across from her, his expression extremely serious. “Were you involved in this?” Laura remained calm. “Father, have you forgotten? Josie sought out this project on her own. You were full of praise when it first made the news.” “What I'm asking is, were you involved in this?” Laura took a deep breath and rose to her feet. “You should have asked me that question when you gave her the shares. Don't you think it's a bit late now?” Mark's face turned ashen. In just a few short hours, he had exhausted all his connections trying to get Josie out, but to no avail. Concerning money laundering, it wasn't just Josie who would be ruined; the entire Olsen Group would also go down with her. “I've treated you well.” The winter sun was never quite warm enough. Despite standing directly in its light, the warmth remained elusive.“It wasn't me, Father. I didn't do this,” Laura said bitterly. Yet, she knew who was responsible. What was even more tragic was that she understood why they had done it. Inside the interrogation room, Josie pursed her lips. “I was not aware.” “There's still time to explain now.” “I told you, I wasn't aware. You're welcome to investigate, but could you please speed things up? I have some important matters to attend to.” The adoption ceremony was scheduled for the day after tomorrow. Given the short amount of time, there was no way everything could be wrapped up. “Ms. Warren, let's change the question. Do you happen to know where Morgan might be?” Josie narrowed her eyes. “I don't.” “From what we understand, your connection with him dates back to your university days. Are you really telling us you have no idea?” One by one, background check reports were laid out before her, leaving her struggling to resist. Meanwhile, Preston stumbled into the study at Russell Mansion. “Mr. Russell, Josie has been taken away by the Securities and Exchange Commission, accused of money laundering. I didn't expect Morgan to have this up his sleeve. He's gone mad.” Dexter, however, was not surprised. He had been suspicious ever since he saw Morgan practically spoon-feeding Josie, a gesture that had caught his attention. “Don't worry.” He picked up a fountain pen and jotted down a series of numbers and a name on a piece of paper. “Go see this person the day after tomorrow. He'll get Josie released.” Preston glanced down. “Zachariah Shaw? Isn't he a bank—” “He's been my friend for many years. You can go ahead without any worries.” “Why not go today, then?” “The day after tomorrow it is.” Dexter sighed lightly. Even he understood Morgan's intentions. On the table, there lay a plane ticket for a direct flight to Rivodia the next day. Selena and Ashton were already prepared. She stood to one side. “You're trying to protect her.” “Wavery is safer than Rivodia, after all.” After Dexter finished speaking, he turned to Preston who was standing behind him. “Where's Summer?”“She has safely returned to Salazar's side. She's expected to see Arnold soon.” Their predictions were accurate. Summer did indeed return to Rivodia and successfully met with Arnold, carrying a listening device. “You were the one who dragged me into this mess. Now, it's time for me to step away,” Summer said, looking at him. Arnold was drinking during the day, but he wasn't intoxicated. He scoffed, “You've had enough of the good life, and you're scared to take risks now, so you're thinking of running away.” Summer's face was etched with worry. “I thought Salazar was afraid of Mrs. Zastrow and wouldn't dare to adopt that child. I never expected he'd have the courage to do so. The moment that child returns, I'll lose all my standing. Mrs. Zastrow will ruin me!”
