I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date
“That's more like it! This is the Arnold I know!” Wayne said, laughing heartily. “In a few days, Salazar will be hosting an adoption ceremony. You should go when the time comes.” “What is the main task?” “Dexter will show up when the time comes. I'll give you the chance to make a move on him.” When Wayne spoke, his voice was filled with a thrill akin to spotting prey. He patted Arnold's shoulder. “I know you've been longing for this day for a long time. But remember, Josie might be there too. You can't afford to repeat the mistake of going soft for her.” Arnold scoffed, “She's just a woman. She's no longer capable of holding me back.” “That would be best.” After Arnold had left, Ryan approached from behind. “We've got someone.” “Who?” “Zach Olsen had tracked us all the way from Wavery to Rivodia. Most likely, he discovered our whereabouts through Laura.” “You're getting worse with your job.”“He's already been tied up. What do you think we should do with him?” “Bury him.” Ryan nodded, but Morgan suddenly raised his hand, showing a hint of hesitation. “Never mind. Just let him learn his lesson the hard way.” “But there's a high chance he already knows your identity, which could lead to complications later on.” Morgan simply said, “He belongs to the Olsen family.” Ryan was stunned. “Is it because of Josie again?” Since Zach was part of the Olsen family, Morgan still took Josie's feelings into account. He had already made too many compromises for her. Morgan removed his mask to breathe. “You've crossed the line.” “I just don't understand. Back when you were only seventeen, you could easily manipulate that girl as you wished. Why is it that now, you seem more and more hesitant? She's not worth it.” When reflecting on the past, Morgan gazed into the distance. “If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't have carried out that naive plan from back then.” “You...” Ryan was utterly shocked. “Are you regretting it? Regretting orchestrating that collision with Paul? He's the very cause of your sister's death.” Morgan shot him a fierce look. “I can tell you, I do regret it,” he declared. “But what I regret is ever getting to know Josie.” Had he foreseen the heartache it would cause, he would have avoided meeting her in the first place. “Where is Shawn now?” Ryan replied reluctantly, “He's been confined in the suburbs all this while. The doctor said his mental illness is getting progressively worse.” Morgan was clearly pleased with the response. He cautioned again, “Keep an eye on Zach. There can't be any mistakes.” “There's one more thing. Laura has been wanting to see you.” Morgan was momentarily stunned. “Tell her there's no need for that. Also, arrange the follow-up matters with Olsen Group.” And so, as soon as Josie stepped into the company, she received a piece of terrible news.“Something's gone wrong, Josie!” Lawrence rushed toward her. “The project you are working on with Eccentric Corporation has hit a snag. All the funds are suspected of being laundered and transferred abroad. The people from the Securities and Exchange Commission are already waiting for you in the conference room.” Josie's expression drastically changed. “What did you say?” “Money laundering.” The person in uniform carried out his duties professionally as he asked, “Are you in charge of the collaboration with Eccentric Corporation?” “Yes, I am.” “Eccentric Corporation has been confirmed to be involved in money laundering overseas. The involvement of Olsen Group is still under investigation. Your cooperation is requested.” Before she had a chance to react, a pair of silver handcuffs clicked onto her wrists. “A transaction worth billions, Ms. Warren, is punishable by law.” At that moment, Josie had a sudden realization. The reason why the project had gone so smoothly was to prepare her for this very moment.
