I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date

Chapter 1426 Inviting You To Your Demise

Salazar returned to Rivodia, continuously gracing the headlines as if nothing had ever changed. The world was calm and peaceful. In the study at Russell Mansion, a candle flickered and danced, casting a warm glow that created a small, separate world—a barrier against the cold outside. Josie was on her laptop, working on the latest project plan, and she was quite frustrated. “All this jumbled data is nowhere near as fun as designing.” The man lifted his wrist, a quill pen in hand, marking the white paper with words. A smile tugged at his lips. “You've already conquered architecture. Wouldn't it be nice to start anew in a different field?” “It's okay to start, but without dedication, you'll eventually go mad.” Josie closed her laptop and carried Grape, who was engrossed in watching cartoons. “That's an hour now. No more watching cartoons.” “Mommy, I like it this way.” Grape leaned on Josie's shoulder, gazing at Dexter in front of her. “What?”“I like being with you and Daddy, just like this.” Josie paused, glancing at the man. His gaze softened as he said, “There will be many more days like this.” Are there? Josie pursed her lips. The hundred-day agreement they had made a while back had long since passed. Everyone was well aware of it, yet no one brought it up. Larry knocked on the door before entering. “We've received a message from Salazar's side. He has agreed.” Dexter set down the quill pen. “Godson?” “Yes, he probably thought it was the best way to save Mrs. Zastrow from being humiliated.” His progress to this day was still largely attributed to the influence of Felicia's family. “Go inform Selena, and while you're at it, tell Salazar that if he wants the whole world to believe that the child is his godson, he should hold an adoption ceremony.” Larry was taken aback. “A ceremony? That's too flashy. He might not agree.” “Convey my exact words to him. He will agree.”Larry exited the study, and Josie, carrying Grape, sauntered over to Dexter. She said in a relaxed tone, “You now hold his fate in your hands.” Dexter picked up the piece of white paper, examining it carefully under the light. Josie narrowed her eyes. His handwriting was elegant. The words written boldly above read: I'm inviting you to your demise. Her heart gave a slight jolt as she glanced at the man's indifferent profile. He exuded a quiet strength, a hint of danger. That was just the kind of man Dexter was. Men with desires were a dime a dozen, yet those who could master their desires and capitalize on them were few and far between. He was one of them. The foreign lands were ravaged by a blizzard, causing Nathan's flight back home to be repeatedly delayed. Despite this, he seemed incredibly anxious. It appeared that even for the sake of his son, he wouldn't run away. Mark had just escorted Summer out of the hotel when they were abruptly accosted by a group of people. They snatched Summer away right there and then. Given they were in a public place, it wasn't suitable to start a conflict, so Summer was successfully taken away. “She knows too much. Would it cause any problems?” Dexter, however, didn't seem too bothered. “There's a bug installed in Summer's phone.” Josie was taken aback, but she quickly recovered from it. “You did this on purpose... You and Mark have been planning this.” Dexter smiled. “Opportunities like this are rare. I have to seize it.” Josie let out a silent sigh. Indeed, the mind behind it all is incredibly meticulous. Two days later, a message of compromise from Salazar arrived. He agreed to proceed with the adoption ceremony but insisted it be held in Rivodia. Dexter did not object. Meanwhile, Arnold sought out Wayne. “You're right. I need to reclaim my pride.”
