I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date
Claudia nodded and sprang into action. She put the phone on speaker. Given the time difference, it was already night abroad. Nathan's voice, heavy with sleep, came through. “What did you say? Zach has been kidnapped?” He rose swiftly, moving to the other side. His voice was considerably clearer as he continued, “How could this happen? Given the status of the Olsen family, couldn't it be resolved? What does the other party want?” It seemed that Nathan did have a soft spot for his own son. Claudia hesitated, casting a glance at Dexter. The latter lowered his gaze, quickly scribbling a sentence on a piece of paper that read: He's injured and needs a blood donation from a direct relative. Claudia read it aloud and added, “Nathan, you know we wouldn't bother you unless it was absolutely necessary.” Drawing a deep breath, Nathan declared, “I'll book a flight back to the country right away.” After hanging up the phone, Claudia seemed lost in thought. “Even though Nathan has entrusted us with his child, he is, after all, the biological father. He probably won't completely abandon his responsibilities.” “All that matters is that he's taken the bait.” Josie suddenly remembered something. “Laura is no longer trustworthy. When Grape wakes up, send her to Russell Mansion.” “I know. Laura can be cunning. I noticed it before. Don't worry. I'm prepared.” Josie let out a sigh of relief and addressed a few more things. At the same time, Dexter glanced at his wristwatch. “Salazar has already departed for Rivodia, leaving Summer behind. It must have taken a lot of effort from Mark.” He was right. At that moment, Summer and Mark were standing facing each other, their eyes filled with defiance. “What gives you the right to lecture me? You're not even my real father.” Two hours earlier, Mark had arrived at the hotel. It was Summer who opened the door. Her face stiffened when she saw who it was. “How did you know I was here?” The voice of Salazar echoed from inside. “Who's there?” The room was filled with a smoky haze. Salazar was in a foul mood, a heavy air of tension surrounding him. Despite Summer's attempts to stop him, Mark walked straight in. “What are you doing? Get out!” Salazar lifted his brooding eyes, only to meet the gaze of an elderly man leaning on a cane. “Who might you be?” Mark said politely, “You might not know who I am, but I've seen you in the news. And I believe it is essential for you to get to know me.” The newcomer spelled trouble. Salazar snuffed out his cigarette and glanced at Summer, then at Mark. “Speak your mind.” “My surname is Olsen. I'm Summer's father.” “No, no! He's not my biological father!” Summer hastily clarified. Mark remained stoic. “You should know that nurturing a child is more significant than merely giving birth to one.” Salazar's face contorted. “What are you trying to do?” “I hold some sway in Wavery. What do you think would happen if I were to report your little affair to the federal government?” And so, Summer was forced to stay behind, while Salazar flew straight to Rivodia. Before he left, his last words were, “Wavery truly is a place full of hidden talents.” Summer, who was left behind, knew everything was over. Her face was streaked with tears as she cried, “What are you talking about? Have you ever thought of me as your daughter? Why are you pretending to have a deep father-daughter bond with me when all you think about is Josie?” Mark tapped the floor with his cane. “If I hadn't thought about you, I wouldn't be here. What do you think you're doing, being someone else's lover? You'd be better off dead. But I'm soft-hearted, always believing that you're just a bit arrogant and willful. You shouldn't have ended up like this!” “Was it Dexter who told you I was here?” Mark didn't respond. “Come home with me!”
