I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date

Chapter 1422 Do Not Alert The Enemy

Josie took a deep breath. “Two years ago, I penned a letter stating that I was leaving Wavery, and if you wished to, you could come to bid me farewell.” Claudia's expression gradually changed when she heard that. She stood there, stunned. Josie asked, “Did you receive the letter I gave to Laura to pass on to you?” Claudia was incredulous. She slowly shook her head. “No.” Two years ago, during the impasse between the Olsen family and Josie, both parties grappled with the intricacies of their own emotions. However, if they had received that letter, perhaps everything could have changed. Claudia couldn't help but grasp Josie's hand, choking up as she said, “It was after you left that Laura told us that you had left Wavery and would never return. Since then, Mark and I have regretted every single day for not taking the initiative to make amends.” Unbeknownst to her, Josie had long made the first move.Josie also choked up, her heart aching as she shook her head. “Before I boarded the plane, I received a check for ten million from Nathan. He told me it was from you.” Claudia opened her mouth wide, shaking her head vigorously. “We've never done such a thing. We couldn't wish for anything more than for you to stay. Why would we give you money to leave?” At this point, Josie believed her words. She let out a sigh and said, “It seems we've all been fooled.” Claudia, in a state of panic, was about to call Nathan, who was in a foreign land, with her phone, but Josie stopped her. “Don't alert the enemy. Act as if you know nothing.” Dexter had been waiting outside for Josie for quite a while, but she never showed up. Unable to contain his impatience any longer, he got out of the car and walked into Olsen Residence, only to witness a heartwarming scene. Josie, holding Claudia's hand, sat down and said, “Actually, I've always been curious. I can't understand why I got lost that year. Although my memory is a bit hazy, no one should know the way from Russell Mansion to Olsen Residence better than I do. There's no reason for anything to go wrong. Think carefully, could it have been someone we know who was responsible?” Claudia couldn't help but become suspicious. “Back then... the Olsen family's business was on the rise. We may have neglected you due to our focus on it, but many details have become hazy. But at that time, Nathan was always with us. Later, something happened to you. He didn't want us to be alone, so he entrusted us with the care of both children. This, indeed, alleviated our sorrow to a great extent. After that, he chose to settle down overseas... Rumors have it that he actually prefers men, which is why he doesn't fancy children. In order to keep this secret, we never revealed the truth to outsiders. Over time, everyone came to believe that Summer and Zach are our children.” Josie lifted her head with a frown, exchanging a distant glance with Dexter, who was standing at the doorway. His expression had turned dark as well. “Didn't you guys ever suspect Nathan?” “There's no evidence,” Claudia choked out. “There's nothing that points to him. All traces have been erased.” “Does Summer know that her father is actually Nathan?” “She does.” Claudia took a deep breath. “But Zach doesn't. He's not exactly a thinker. Though he may seem malicious, that's just on the surface. He doesn't have it in him to think so far.” Dexter, who was standing nearby, said in a calm tone, “Mrs. Olsen, could you please call Nathan? Let him know that Zach has been kidnapped, and there's a constant threat that he could be harmed at any moment.” Although his tone was nonchalant, Josie could discern the undercurrent of violence and a resolution to obliterate everything in his words.
