I Married My Boss... On a Blind Date

Chapter 1424 Arnold Returns

“I don't want to.” Summer moved past him without hesitation, striding into the bathroom and locking the door behind her. “That place isn't my home. I don't have a home.” Mark wouldn't let her have her way. He ordered his subordinates, “Pry open the door. Bring her back even if you have to tie her up.” The sound of the lock being picked was loud. Summer was terrified. She immediately unlocked her phone and made a call. “Hello, I couldn't reach Arnold, so I could only contact you. Salazar has already returned to Rivodia, and his deal with Dexter is not yet settled. Mark wants to take me away.” Meanwhile, on the pavilion, Morgan was observing the middle-aged woman gracefully feeding the fish before him. After listening to the message on his phone, he flashed a smirk. “All right.” “All right? What about me? Send someone to rescue me!” “Go back with Mark first. I'll send someone to handle it.” “I've been working my life away for you all this time. You must save me. I don't want to stay in Wavery even if it means facing death.”Morgan ended the call, pocketed his phone, and turned to the woman with a smile. “Congratulations, Mrs. Zastrow.” She lazily arched an eyebrow. “What are you congratulating me for?” “The major problem weighing on your heart has been resolved. You won't see that woman again anytime soon.” Felicia scoffed, “What kind of storm can that young lady possibly stir up? I've never taken her seriously. It's Selena Quiroz you mentioned that's interesting.” “What do you intend to do, Mrs. Zastrow?” “That depends on his choice,” Felicia said. She emptied all the fish food from her hand into the lake, watching as the fish swarmed toward it. Morgan stepped out of the main entrance. Ryan, who had been waiting for a good while, swiftly approached. “Arnold has been waiting at La Oriele for quite some time. Do you still need to disguise yourself to meet him?” “Where is Josephine?” “She was sent back to the Yowell residence.” “Perhaps it's best to maintain my disguise. Arnold isn't easily fooled. Now that we have the backing of the Yowell family's military, we need to keep our act convincing.” Ever since Josie redesigned La Oriele, it had lost its previous dark and mysterious ambiance. Instead, it had become bright and spacious. The broad-shouldered man stood in the hallway with a champagne glass in hand, overlooking the bustling traffic below. “It's changed beyond recognition.” Someone respectfully said from behind, “La Oriele has always been your territory. That never changed.” Arnold had been hiding and had been through hell and back for months. His face bore the marks of hardship and he seemed much more mature. The only thing that remained unchanged was the ruthless streak that ran deep in his bones. “Arnold.” A mechanical voice echoed, unmistakably marking Wayne's arrival. Arnold turned around, and there he was, the man with the mask, just as he remembered him. “Mr. Dalton.” Wayne scrutinized him through his mask. “You've lost weight.”Arnold set down his champagne glass. “After enduring so much hardship, one is bound to lose weight. But Mr. Dalton, you seem to have remained the same since the old days.” Wayne laughed heartily. “My greatest pride these past few years has been nurturing you. Do you realize that you alone are a match for all of them?” Arnold, with a sharp gaze, stared at him for a moment. “Years ago, when Dexter had cornered me, I was fortunate to find refuge with you, Mr. Dalton. You taught me how to strategize and how to fight, and that's how I've managed to survive till now.” “Why are you suddenly saying all this?” “Over the past few months, I've done a lot of thinking. There's something I'd like to ask you personally.” “Go ahead.” Arnold studied his masked face for a moment before finally asking, “When we were at a standoff at sea, Dexter said that the person you actually wanted to choose was him. Is that true?”
