Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 94 No One

Magnus’ p.o.v. “Duck down and don’t move. Someone is approaching the front door.” I hear Meadow say through the mind-link. We wait until Meadow gives us the all clear to check the next window, slowly making our way to the front of the Pack-house. She doesn’t have to warn us when whoever went into the Pack-house is coming back out again, because we can hear him coming down the stairs. “No way to enter through the windows. There are holes in the floors and I doubt they could stand the weight of the lightest in our team.” Maryan states through the mind-link, after we checked the living room, the last room on our side. “Only two Shifters on the Alpha floor, we will take the front door to get in.” Meadow says and we quietly make our way to the front door. It is clear to see that work has been done to the front of the Pack-house, giving me the answer on how it is possible for anyone to be on the Alpha floor. The stairs have been replaced and you can see reinforcements in various places to keep the Pack-house from crumbling down. I take the first step onto the stairs and am surprised to find it sturdier than expected. I gesture for the rest to follow me as I keep an eye on the steps leading up, making sure to look for any weak spots. “They are still on the Alpha floor. Living room would be my best guess.” Meadow states, as I reach the landing.I look up the next flight of stairs, which looks as sturdy as the first. Meadow sends Maryan to investigate the floor we’re on, the Gamma floor, if I had to take a guess. We are halfway up the flight of stairs when Maryan rejoins us, “Unlivable, the floor has many weaknesses. There are supplies on the floor to make repairs, but nothing else.” Maryan reports. The Beta floor is in a similar state, with supplies for repairs, but there is no indication that they have already begun them. When we reach the landing of the Alpha floor, I curse softly. There is a keypad next to the door, similar to the one we use in Black Valley Pack and Gold Moon Pack. “Let’s split up. Our lightest members will head back to the Beta floor and try to find a way up to the Alpha floor.” Meadow says. “I will tell you if anyone approaches the Pack-house, we will wait here.” Seconds later, it is just Gold Moon’s future leadership on the stairs, watching the door to the Alpha floor. “We managed to reach a room to your right, if my calculations are correct, it will be near the kitchen on the Alpha floor. Tia is on her way up. She will follow up with information soon.” Maryan says through the mind-link. It took them twenty minutes to cover a hallway that, under normal circumstances, would take a minute or two. Now, all we can do is wait for Tia to provide an update and hopefully, we can proceed quickly with this mission. “Uhm, guys. We might have a problem.” We hear through the mind-link. “This might have been just a kitchen once, right now it is some suite with cameras and other security measures in place. None of them are working yet, but they might make our plan more difficult.” It takes another five minutes for Tia to get back to us again. “We found another way out, theliving room is down the hall from where we are. How do you want to proceed?” We hear through the mind-link. If it were up to me, I would knock on the door and try to overpower whoever answers the door. “What about we go through the door?” Myka asks and I do not hesitate to go to the door. I knock on the door with a loud bang, making it sound like an emergency and hopefully, the men behind the door won’t use their brains too much. “What the fuck….” Whoever opened the door stops mid-sentence when he sees me and I grab his throat to back him into the Alpha floor. From the only picture still out there, I know that this isn’t Winston and I keep walking toward the living room. “Hello, Winston.” I say as I step into the living room, followed by the rest of our team. Each of them spreads across the room to surround Winston and I finally drop the man to the floor. Winston is looking at each woman in the room and I smile the moment that Myka and Makay step next to Meadow, growling in Winston’s direction. “Are you the one I have been looking for?” Winston asks as he looks at Meadow. “I hadn’t expected you to show up on my doorstep; you just made this a lot easier for me.”Myka and Makay haven’t stopped growling and Meadow isn’t doing anything to calm them down. Almost as if she wants to keep them on edge for some reason, this isn’t making sense to me at all. I would try to keep my Mate calm during something like this. “Yeah, I am the one you were looking for. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I found my Mates and they don’t like you.” Meadow states. Oh, damn. She is really good. She is keeping them angry on purpose; she needs them on edge to take on Winston and whoever this guy is. Gilliam is growling in my head too, he hates the way Winston is looking at Meadow as much as her Mates. “Meadow, there are files here on every attack. Even something that looks like a story or a fairytale.” Maryan says. “Those are mine, stay away from them.” Winston says. “This is my family’s prophecy and you are my ticket to get what I deserve. You will be mine, one way or the other.” The moment he is finished speaking, the room is filled with two angry Bears and I hear the floor squeaking under their weight. Let’s hope that the repairs they made can hold up; otherwise, we're going to go down a few floors. By the looks of it, neither one of them was expecting to be confronted with Bears. “My Mates don’t like you threatening me and I am going to step back to watch them take you down.” Meadow says as she takes a step back. “Guys, don’t kill him. I want him to answer for his crimes.”Suddenly, Winston is starting to look uncomfortable. It isn’t until Meadow starts smiling that I get an idea of what is going on. “Oh, you were counting on some backup.” Meadow says. “Sorry, our team is taking care of your Pack-members. So, no one is coming to your aid.”
