Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate

Chapter 93 Harsh Punishments

Winston's p.o.v. “He lost sight of the convoy.” My Beta says as he gets off the phone. “About an hour away from here, he couldn't follow them immediately without exposing himself. He tried finding them again, but no luck.” I stay quiet for a moment, thinking about what to do next. If he can't track them, there is no use in keeping him out there on a wild goose chase. “Send him back to Gold Moon, I need to have more information on what happened and I don't care how they get it.” I tell my Beta. I need to know if any of my captured men talked before they died or if it is still safe for us to stay here, not that we have another place to go to at the moment. I listen to the conversation my Beta is having and I understand that the Warrior did everything he could to pick up the trail again, but didn't succeed. Somehow, they managed to lose him when they were driving down a road that leads to three different Packs, one of them being my own territory. I doubt they came in this direction or my border patrol would have spotted them. Most likely, they went to Frozen Star Pack and that Dipshit that calls himself an Alpha. He is the first on my shitlist and I will make him pay for what his family did to mine. Once I have marked my gifted Mate, I will receive the gifts from the prophecy and destroy Frozen Star Pack. “I checked in with border patrol, nothing suspicious going on.” My Beta responds. Before I can ask him anything, there is a knock on the door to the Alpha floor. Besides my Beta, no one else has a code to enter my floor, not even my Gamma. I still don't trust him, even though his actions and words suggest that we share similar views. “Alpha, the other Warriors checked in. Alpha Lincoln hasn't changed his patrols, nor any activity that indicates placement of cameras along the borders.” My Gamma announces as he walks through the door. I start to wonder if Alpha Lincoln isn't as brilliant as everyone seems to think. I would have changed border patrols and put up cameras after an attack. Especially, if I couldn't find out why they attacked my territory. Could we have missed something during our initial surveillance on Gold Moon territory? “Send another team out there. I want a full report within two days. We have overlooked something major during our first investigation, there is no way that Alpha Lincoln didn’t change a damn thing.” I tell my Gamma and he walks out of the room to convey my orders. My Beta pulls out the reports we have on Gold Moon territory and starts reading through them once again. I don’t believe he will find something in there, but it doesn’t hurt either. We have nothing better to do at the moment than wait for another report. I grab the file on our finances to see what we will be fixing next. So far, we have rebuilt the stairs of the Pack-house and the Alpha floor. A few modifications to the rest of the Pack-house to make sure that it won’t collapse while I live here, but other than that, the Pack-house isn’t a significant concern. The dungeons have been dealt with and now the primary focus is on rebuilding some of the essential buildings surrounding the Pack-house. I will start with the Warrior and Omega buildings to the left and right of the Pack-house; it needs to be done quickly and it will keep my men occupied for a while. My predecessors believed that lower-ranking Pack-members weren’t meant to live in the Pack-house; they each have their own building and only need to be in the Pack-house to do their jobs. I never understood the need for a huge Pack-house to accommodate low-ranking Pack-members. This Pack-house is big enough for me and its purpose: housing the Alpha and his leadership. I don’t need anyone around when my Mate is finally found, nor do I want anyone to understand that my Mate-bond will be a one-way street. I have no intention of giving my Mate a chance to escape, nor do I want someone to put an escape plan into motion for her. My Beta knows my plans and will help me ensure that she has no way of leaving the Pack-house or the territory. We have been working on the suite for my Mate, placing cameras on every escape route we could think of and even placed a passcode-protected lock on it. Now all I am waiting for is the correct file to lead me in the direction of my gifted Mate, after which I will start planning for her abduction. I placed the order for all the materials we need to renovate the Warrior and Omega buildings. It will take one to two days before we can start. As soon as construction is done, we can begin by finding Shifters to join us and move them into the buildings. “There is something interesting here, if only we could talk to someone who had been there. It states that they observed some Pack-members near the border on the first day of their first surveillance, but it was unclear what they were doing. Looked as if they were either taking something down or putting something up.” My Beta says. “Why didn’t we hear about it during their debriefing?” I ask, hoping the answer is that file. “Their leader didn’t find it important enough to mention and whoever wrote it decided to place it at the back of the file, making it impossible to see at first glance.” He responds. It appears that we need to keep a closer eye on our team leaders to ensure we receive all the necessary information in the future. I can’t trust my Pack to tell me all the information they have; they even think they can decide what I need to know or not. “Make an announcement to all the teams, personally. I want all the information they come across and I will decide whether it is essential or not. Anyone withholding information will be dealt with accordingly.” I tell my Beta. My Pack is smart enough to know what those consequences will be, they also know that I will be harsh in my punishments. Some of them have witnessed it in the past.
