Golden Moon: The Beta Twins' Contracted Mate
A few hours ago…. What the fuck just happened? My entire body hurts, but I don’t smell blood and I seem to be able to move all my limbs. I can hear voices around me, but they are so far away that I can’t hear what they are saying. My Wolf isn’t responding when I try to reach him and it almost feels as if he is asleep, somewhere deep in the back of my mind. “Rory?” I hear a whispered question. The voice is familiar, but I can’t say who it belongs to at this time. I can feel that I'm being lifted off the ground, but it doesn’t seem gentle and the soft voice from earlier sounds angry. Not that I can hear what is being said, it all sounds muffled. I keep floating in and out of I don’t know what and every time I try to open my eyes, I fail. Minutes or maybe even hours pass and no matter how hard I try, my eyes refuse to open. My ears seem to be stuffed with cotton because I can hear voices, but I can’t hear what they are saying. Somewhere during all this, I must have drifted off to sleep because I can feel my Wolf slowly coming back to me. He doesn’t say anything, but I can feel his presence getting stronger. I nearly jump out of my skin when I hear him ask, “Where is our Mate?” Damn, that little piece of information had escaped my mind. We finally found our Mate and she rejected us on the spot. Only because I had introduced Sarah as my future Luna, but her Wolf should have been able to scent the lack of a Mate-bond. When I finally have the strength to get out of bed, I realise that only a few hours have passed since midnight. “Let’s get our Mate.” My Wolf says and moments later we sneak out of the Pack-house. I know she rejected us, but she is my only chance of getting an Alpha position. She has to accept us as her Mate, one way or the other, because I deserve to be an Alpha. “Why didn’t Sarah back off when we called out Mate?” My Wolf asks. He is right, Sarah should have backed off the moment she heard I found my Mate. Dad gave her an Alpha order never to tell anyone I hadn’t marked her and to back off when I found my fated Mate. He gave her a few more orders, but I can’t remember them exactly. “Fuck. When Dad died, the orders were broken. She must have thought I would accept her over my fated Mate.” I tell my Wolf when I finally understand why she disobeyed an order from her Alpha. I approach the borders of Light Ridge Pack at a point I have crossed into the territory on numerous occasions. A spot that not many know is a weak spot in their border patrols. When I see the back door to the Packhouse open, I smile. It will be easy to get to the Alpha floor. I bet you that she is up there with or without someone present. Using the Omega stairwell, I get up to the Alpha floor and quietly walk down the hall as I open every door along the way. I don’t have to open the door to my Mate’s room, because it is left ajar and I can hear someone softly whispering. I see our Mate lying on the bed and her breathing tells me she is sleeping. A sound from the bathroom tells me she isn’t alone as I predicted. Standing beside the bed, I am about to pick up my Mate when the bathroom door opens. You don’t have to be a genius to understand that whoever walks out has alerted Alpha Damon. What I wasn’t expecting was to get punched in the face by a woman. I have her pinned against the wall before I get a good look at her. Fuck, it is Luna Isabel. She tries to get out of the hold I have on her neck, but I slam her head against the wall and drop her once she is unconscious. I walk down the Omega stairwell with my Mate hanging over my shoulder. I follow the route I have taken several times over the years and wait until the dust settles. It still looks the same and drop my Mate on the bed in the corner of the room. She still hasn’t woken up, but our broken bond would have impacted her severely. I have seen men and women passed out for days after a rejection, so this might take a while. Only moments after settling down, I can hear people running around while screaming my Mate’s name. Not that she would be able to respond if she had been conscious, not with duct tape covering her mouth. I even injected her with some Wolfsbane to keep her from mind-linking anyone for help, if she figures out where we are after waking up. If I remember correctly, only one person in the territory knew about this place and she died a few months ago. The sounds of people shouting and running around fade away and I don’t have to tell you where her Father went. It would be the next logical place to look for us, but I am not a complete Idiot. I will wait until dinner time or so to take my Mate away and show her that I am the right choice for her. My Mate never gave me a chance, even though I have waited years to find her. I will make an incredible Alpha and with my Mate being the Alpha’s Daughter, I get to lead a Pack as my Father wanted me to. Alpha Lincoln will never allow me to take over Gold Moon Pack because he wouldn’t want to tear up his son's bond with the Beta and Gamma twins. I just hope that this future leadership is capable or I might have to ask Rufus to become my Gamma and ask the Elders for another Beta. Once I have taken over Light Ridge Pack, I will show Alpha Lincoln what his territory is missing. My Father was an excellent Alpha and I have always kept a close eye on his methods to familiarize myself with them. I did one thing differently from my Father: I train as often as possible, never missing morning training and occasionally joining evening training.
